Those shots wouldn't be counted as misses if you got fouled...

Hmm, I wonder who we should use in EASO?
*cough*Suns*cough*

You know, I haven't played the game with a team that has a "power" superstar or an "inside scorer" and i've found the inside defence pretty reasonable and annoying enough. If you want the problem to go away why not disable the superstar abilities of the players you have

Nope,it aint alarming, u wanna go ahead and keep dunking without calling plays?go ahead lol, u gon keep getting unrealistic results, lemme know wen u hit with 100pts with Yao

Maybe putting the inside shot slider down to the 20s will help a bit.

He aint shooting.....
Hes dunking, put User duck percentage down to 0, that way all the unrealistic dunks over defenders can miss like they would IRL

you should try nba 2k6 I have played live and it does play alot arcade like this year, I didn't even have it set on arcade mode and and I scored like 57 points with pau gasol and 40 with lorezen wright that makes no sense at all I never seen those guys score like that, but nba 2k6 is the truth I bullshit you not teams play just like themselves.... if your an nba fan you will enjoy this game

What you explained from the beginning AIR is fastly becoming an epidemic down at the EA server.
I normaly dont go there only play in leagues but when we have to wait yet again for a saved stats patch other than playing a few practice games online with league buddies i thought id give the EA server a go again.
Yet wasnt surprised by what i was confronted with, the same old cheese no skilled shit.
And yes the inside d is alot harder in this game its way too easy to go inside and dominate on the offensive end.
I loved Live 2005 because it had a pretty good balance inside maybe a bit too easy to block, yet theyve gone overboard in tonning that down and now its bloody hard to block or stop anything.
Ive played in about 3-4 American leagues and 3 seasons in the only aussie league that i know of
http://alo.zoltrix.net/ Aussie Live Online our last 2005 season has just finished.
I finished with the best record in the league 26-3 with the Timberwolves but got knocked out in the secodn round of the playoffs so if you check out my line up and check the season stats out i pitted my good season on solid inside d with KG and Illy and Wright as a back up but would be worthless almost in the new game so now ill have to go run and gun i guess and keep up with the arcady revolution.

this is the most bull post i've read today. Would you mind to tell me how to play live "realistically"?

Thank you guys for all your comments and statements. For those of you who already have the game, is it worth it? I'm still deciding to get the game or not.

I'm 100% sure this problem can be fixed with sliders.

I'm sure Jackal will respond in his own time, but I just thought I'd offer my perspective on the matter.
Most of the games in the NBA Live series have been capable of yielding fairly realistic stats and scores, some of them requiring more work than others. It does depend on how you play the game. If you play an up-tempo game without much defense you are going to have higher scores; just like in real life. If all you do is attempt dunks then yes, there are going to be dunks.
The sliders can combat problems like these. For example, lowering the dunk frequency slider results in more layups, which are more easily challenged. Thus you would find yourself attempting more jumpshots. High shooting percentages can also be lowered through lowering the sliders. Sliders can also be used to make the game more challenging as well as realistic.
There are elements of gameplay that can't really be altered by the sliders or the way you play, but it seems with some tweaks here and there we can enhance the game from the state it is out of the box...which I feel is better than last year but I'm still tweaking to find suitable settings which will tone down some elements for more realism while still allowing for a challenging game.

Its only a pity sliders cant be changed for online play.
Seeing i never play against the PC at all only play the game online, I get into too many bad habits for league games if i play the pc too much or at all really.
I think Andrew will sort out minor game problems with is normal masterly work on a roster patch.

I know there's a Superstar skill button but I haven't as much as tried it.

What's even more stupid is trying to take tough shots on purpose when you can shoot 20 for 26 from the inside.

I'll try that but they will probably miss open dunks then.

Playing my first game, playing casual D and stopping to wait for Yao and Swift on every fast break just to see how easy the game is.

I sure hope so but I doubt it.

This game is a realistic as you play it. If you only play inside and don't take any shots at all, it pretty unrealistic yeah, because you'll never see them do that in real games. But since you control the players, it's your fault.
There are sliders that tone down the shooting %'s and also ones that indicate how tight the defense is, how good they will be able to stop you from getting easy baskets.

There's CPU on-ball physical defence, when you switch it to over 50, your player bounces off the opponent to make space for an easy layup, so in my opinion that doesn't determine how tight the defence is.
But yeah, I've been making some changes. With CPU steals at 100, CPU interceptions at about 70, CPU dunk/layup block at 100 and CPU double team effectiveness at 100 (seriously!) it started to get really challenging. I went to Jermaine O'Neal a couple of times, the CPU saw I was trying to score with him, double-teamed and shut him down. That's what I was looking for and I'll see how it works from here.
I also have adjusted shot and layup percentage at the 30's.

I've noticed that players guarding Amare makes a huge difference. Jermaine O'Neal really shut him down (to 20 pts this time) and adjusting sliders help, especially with lowering the shootings. I'm (surprisingly) enjoying the game so far, although there's some major issues. I'll write a review sometime in the next two weeks.

And here we go with the NBA2k6 fans.

indeed theres an odd balance. I dominate with Rasheed inside, and it's not that i want to...it just happens. His shots just fall in.....but if i lower the sliders (already at 34 for inside) then my other players like McDyess end up missing shots.
It's weird... Billups and Hamilton shoot at a realistic 38-44%, but my bench players (Arroyo, Delfino, Evans) shoot 30, 28 and 20% respectively, whilst attempting the same shots. I find it almost impossible to score with my role players.
Inside defence isn't that bad...what's bad is the rebounding. It's a 50/50 chance on either end. So you might force a miss, but the CPU will rebound and score. The CPU makes too many contested J's as well, but i havent found the appropriate sliders yet. I still get torched by the Athletic guys (Lewis and Hughes each dropped 40+ on me today)
