The guy who runs .org. He is smart, but gets mad if you argue with him. And starts going insane in proving his point. His name here is/was Benji.

That was a funny read. Just to let you know.. contrary to popular belief, the SF usually does have the best dribbling abilitiies.. if you think, who's the main slasher on the team? the Sf. if the SF can't dribble, how can he slash to the basket? THe best all-around dribbling skills usually.. usually go to the SF>

Not trying to be argumentative just for the sake of it ...

...however( :D ) I always thought slasher reffered to the athletic player who doesnt necessarily have good ball handling skills. He just makes good cuts to the basket and drives well with the ball. The guy is just explosive and doesnt really beat guys of the dribble by crossing them over etc. Just with pure speed and explosiveness. Thats just my understanding of it.

In regards to SF always inbounding the ball in Live, well i dont see a problem with it. If your superstar (LBJ) is the one you want to have the ball you just touch pass it back to him after he inbounds it. It is actually a really good way of getting him the ball in a good position. The inbound defender usually drops of a bit so if you pass it in run in to position and get the return pass you will often get the SF's defender running at him to get back in position. This gives you a great oportunity to blow right by him.

The bulls used to do it all the time with Scottie Pippen during the final seconds of the game to get the ball inbounds. Pippen would inbound it then he can make a cut to get the return pass.

And btw, Darko will pay off in the long run. In fact im predicting he will start to make an impact around midway through this season (and no, i dont mean an impact on the bench  )

Anyways enjoy the game :D

How the crap can you cut to the basket when you can't dribble worth crap? Ugh. Driving the lane requires dribbling abilities, very good abilities.. not just explosiveness. :P

Darko won't make an impact as long as he's with the Pistons - even more now that they have signed Davis.

No it doesnt. If your explosive and you make good cuts you dont even need to put the ball on the floor once. And as i explained im not talking about driving the lane after beating somebody off the dribble. You only need mediocre ball handling fake one way, wrong foot your opponent and then get to the rim. The athletic freaks in the league need no more than 2 dribbles before theyre dunking once they get by you with pure athleticism. That to me is a slasher.

Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:34 pm

Hate to break it to ya, but that's not a slasher, even if it is what it is to you.

A slasher is someone who cuts and drives the lane - he's not on the court for his shooting abilities, he's there to drive and get fouled.. take Kirilenko for example, he's a slasher, although he can shoot 3's - he drives a lot.. Kirilenko can dribble.. very well. You can't be a slasher if you can't dribble. SLASHERS ARE THE ONES WHO DRIVE THE LANE.

I'm a freakin SF - i'm a freakin slasher. I know what i'm talking about. .-. :|

Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:55 pm

You need good ball handling to bring the ball up the floor playing point forward. You need average ball handling to drive to the hoop if you have great athletism.

And just because you like to call yourself a slasher it doesnt mean thats what a slasher really is  I will give you the benifit of the doubt though. To me that has always been a slasher, probably because ive read it in so many scouting reports. "tremendous athlete with outstanding finishing at the rim, average ball handling..." you know the rest, he turns into Andre Emmitt

Tue Sep 27, 2005 3:04 pm

With like 1 second left and my damn 3 point shooter is my SF I have to sub him in under SG. :D

check me is slangin dig alig

Tue Sep 27, 2005 6:25 pm

to cut to the basket doesnt mean your dribbling
the best ones are the ones who use their 2-steps to their full potential, and dont need to dribble

take this for example: http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?c ... video=dotn
dribbling inside the key to cut is asking for trouble

And btw, Darko will pay off in the long run. In fact im predicting he will start to make an impact around midway through this season

hopefully saunders sees something in him rather than brown, but he is still only 20 - still extremely young

Darko won't make an impact as long as he's with the Pistons - even more now that they have signed Davis.

davis = c
darko usually plays forward
