Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Hi all,
After playing five games in superstar, using some tweaked .dbf which have the steal rating lowered to 60 max., I'm having A LOT of turnovers, 90% of them because of bad passes. Around 26 turnovers I had last game.
Many times I don't know why I lose the ball: I'm in front to my teammate and looking him, then pass him but the ball simply goes to the wrong side and is catched by an opponent or goes out of bounds. This happens whoever is the player that gives the pass.
Does it happen in all-star level? Any ways or tips to improve my passes? Should I raise the ballhandling rating?
Regards,
Felipe.

I've suffered from this as well, Pat Garrity had 10 steals leading the Magic to hand me my first loss of the year

Use Direct Pass.

I also tried DirectPass, but these damn CPU guys still catch my balls too often than desired

Use the direct passing and recognize where the double teams are coming from. The computer will still pick off some that don't seem as though he should have gotten to, but you can reduce some of them by recognizing where the double team is coming from.
Durning the early stages of the game, the double team is usually from the man I just used to feed the post. Let say I use my PG to feed my PF down on a block. The PG's defender will double my PF. So I can just kick it back to my PG.
But as the game wears on, The CPU will start weak side doubling. Kicking back to the PG will end up in a turnover 50% of the time. When the cpu starts doing this I have to look to see which of my players has the clearest passing lane.
Passing to the weakside corner from either block will result in a steal by the computer 75% of the time. This is one of the gripes I have with the game. Weakside skip passes are a big part of all organized bball, but in live 2003 they acct for a large number of the cpu's steals.....

Yeah, the man in the corner is wide open.

The answer is: "Don't let the computer steal your ball!", I was just kidding. I have the same problem too, I think you have to avoid passing too much, just pass no more than 5 times in each play, then there won't be that much steals.

I just found a way, but I don't know if it's useful. Don't let the post up player pass the ball to his oppisite direction; don't pass the ball when your players are running toward their assigned positions.

i like the fact that if you shoot and quickly pass it off --(in more cases than none)--the pass will get stolen, which should be the case because it's last ditch attempt to pass it off and it rewards good defense.
2 words: Icon Passing, my roomate would complain about the steals, then he's gotten use to the icon passing and I don't hear him b!tch so much--you have to see the man you pass it to before you pass--it's weird because it past versions I didn't have to see if the man was open, the ball always went to him regardless of where the defensive man was--now you have to look before you pass--really cool

Is it me or is it weird when playing as the knicks i post up CHARLIE WARD and im IMMEDIATLY double teamed. Cause you know that low post threat known as Charlie Ward can kill ya down there. I would like to post up ONCE and not get double teamed. You cant patch the AI can you? that truly sucks about this game...u can beat the double down low but its just not realistic
