Allan Houston Rule

Tue Jul 26, 2005 10:42 am

anybody knows if the Allan Houston Rule (amnesty rule) will be in the game?

or the mid-level exception?

I know that most of the news are about the new freestyle...but I´m just wondering....

Knicks please get a good Center...

other thing...does anybody knows where is Keon Clark?

most likly we wont see the MLE this year. i hope we see it some day but i am sure thats another 3-4 years off with the way EA progresses its dynasty.

i dont think that rule will be implemented yet....and keon is still a free agent asking for about 7 mil per year (N)

EDIT: just a thought sauru....why is yer avatar of bird that damn big  i thought the size limit is 90x90

I'm not sure about the MLE, but I'm pretty sure the amnesty clause won't be a part of Dynasty Mode.

I reckon it's because he had that avatar before Andrew implemented the Avatar Size rule.

I dont anything about the "Allan Houston rule" but I do know that Knicks have an agreement with Jerome James and he will prob start at C.

The amnesty rule is a one off. This is the only time that it will exist.

Tue Jul 26, 2005 11:09 pm

what's the point in bringin in the amnesty rule when it only affects the "luxury tax" of the franchise and does not relief any salary cap space?

just fyi: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&id=2112912

Q: Does the contract of an amnesty player drop off a team's payroll?

A: No. And the provision provides only luxury-tax relief, with no salary-cap relief. So a team can't release a player to gain cap space.

Exactly Voxel.

And I agree with Sauru and his feelings about EA's progression of dynasty mode.

MLE could change free agency by leaps and bounds.

na they fixed it, in the 2 new videos q is in a ny jersey (note to self, thank u god 4 getting some1 2 replace allen houston :D )

The Allan Houston rule is only for the luxury tax. They don't have that in Live, so they don't need the rule.

Thu Jul 28, 2005 12:42 am

WTF is Alan Houston rule ?

Thu Jul 28, 2005 12:50 am

It's a nickname for a one-time provision in the new collective bargaining agreement between the league, the owners and the player's association which will allow teams to release a player so his salary doesn't count towards the luxury cap (thus sparing teams from paying an expensive luxury tax). However, the team must still pay out his contract and it continues to count against the salary cap.

As a couple of people have already pointed out, since the luxury cap/tax isn't in NBA Live there's no need for the clause to be part of Dynasty Mode.

Can't get much more basic than that. The reason it's being nicknamed the Allan Houston Rule is because the Knicks are the most likely team to take advantage of it, to waive Allan Houston.

ahhhhh gud to have Andrew woooooww tnx 4 answering my question.
