So it looks like the coaches salary plays into your Salary cap in Live 2006?

If so this is a neat touch - One thing I hope they add is the GM getting upset with you and calling for your head if you get way over the salary cap, as this does NOT happen in Live 2005 does it? One critcism I have about the Live 2005 resgining engine is that players will always resign if the money is right, and there seem to be no consequences for giving all of your players as much or more money then they are asking for. I preffered it better when players would decide not to resign with you in Live 2003, although if they bring it back, I would hope it appears to be less random and more based on some sort of statistic generated from win-loss record, # of minutes played, etc. compared to the length and money of the contract.

Do coaches count against the salary cap in real life too?
Mon Jul 25, 2005 7:06 am
I don't recognize any of those assistant coaches on the list

No, coaches dont count against your salary cap if they do Isaih can kill himself when he adds 60mill for LB.

another good question is when you hire an assistant coach is the whole team going benefit from his prescense or just an invidual player selected by you?

Some of those coaches are kinda old..... i think one is 64 on that screen. I know it's kinda weird, but do you think a coach on your team could die?

Assuming it's set up to reflect the real NBA, the assistant coaches won't count against the player salary cap but will still count against some kind of budget, sort of like Dynasty Extras. At least that's my understanding.

64 isn't even THAT old,but in any case I think the CPU would make a coach retire before he dies. O_o

Yea, there has to be more offseason movement, more trades, more player improvements (not just their attributes), etc.
The thing is, in LIVE 04, they had some players not signing with their teams even if you offer them max deals. They would just say "not interested", but then they would spend the rest of their lives as free agents because no teams would ever have cap room. Then in LIVE 05, they just stopped doing that and they would pretty much always resign.
Some ways they could improve this:
1) Crappy CPU teams with good young players should trade their star player (like Francis/Hill in Orlando for example) for old expiring contracts to contending teams by trade deadlines. And they would cap players soon while giving more PT to young guys.
2) Maybe, give us an option to select the salary cap and the %increase every year. Some would abuse this, but this would help us because we could at least set it a bit higher so that there are more teams with cap room during free agency.
3) Player offseason improvement should take into account work ethic, potential (a hidden rating, not just "average" or "excellent" which ultimately means nothing), age, health, etc. My dream would be the cpu letting us train our players ourselves in the offseason. Like schedule workout sessions for players (the lengths and frequencies would be determined by their work ethic) and do drills or just individual practices.
This would mean that not everybody in the league would turn into 90 overall guy in 5 years. So not everybody out there needs a HUGE contract.
4) MLE!! So at least teams can sign mid level role players in the off season for their championship runs.
