next gneration question

Sat Jul 09, 2005 8:58 am

the more I think about it, the more confused I am. Is there a difference between next gen and nba live 06? or are they just two different names for the same thing?

It's the same thing. I guess they mean that 06 is the next generation of of Live games.
I don't believe that it is referring to the next gen of consoles.

I think there is a difference, I think the next gen versions will be superiour graphics wise. Although, I could be horribly wrong.

next gen systems will get the next gen LIVE 06. meaning, xbox 360 will get the next gen live 06, while ps2 will get the reg live 06.

-I think.

from what was explained to me, "the next generation" refers to live on next generation video game systems. :D

Does this mean we'll recieve different info as the game approaches its release date. Does this mean will get news on the version for the PS2 and then news on the version for the XBOX360? Like PS2 may have superstar freestyle, but XBOX360 will have that plus like a amazing career mode etc?

Sun Jul 10, 2005 4:30 am

I doubt it... I think the features etc will be the same, I'd say the Xbox360 will have far superior graphics but I doubt they'd add something really cool to the Next Gen versions and leave it out of the current generation games. It could provoke riots, or at least some of those stupid online petitions.

Live for PS2/Xbox/and PC will look identical to last years version. Xbox 360 will look better graphically than all of those three. (Similar to the next-gen commercials)

Look at what happened between Live 2000 and 2001 (PS1 to PS2 switch). 2001 was 'prettier' than any version before it, but quite honestly, it played like a load of cow shit. Even 2002 was a sorry ass game. They finally started to put the pieces together for the 2003 version, and as a matter of opinion, it wasn't until Live 2005 when everything seemed to click. That was a long hard road.

That is my greatest fear for this coming generation of Lives. 4 years is too long to wait for another great Live game, so let's hope that

a)the learning curve is easier for the developers to master this time around and

b)the developers take the time and utilize the tools given to them in an efficient way to maximize the next-gen's potential.

I have the fear that Live 06 for current consoles won't be any improvement from Live 05 since this year, EA developers had to concentrate on two generations of consoles and probably didn't have enough time to develope any break through innovation in the dynasty system, gameplay or whatever...(unless there are two developers teams...but I doubt it)

Regarding current consoles, In my opinion we have reached the point where graphic cannot be improved that much and therefore it would be nice to have the developers concentrating on the dynasty mode and giving us some really deep mode (Madden style), instead of wasting time on revamping the graphic engine or introducing some pretty but unnecessary gimmick.

Let's be honest: freestyle superstar sounds good, but what have we been asking for in the last 2-3 years? Dynasty, dynasty, dynasty....Now, why in the world EA hasn't listened to us so far? We know they have been reading this forum....but why are they always deaf when it comes to dynasty? Yes, I know..there have been new features each year, but the truth is that the franchise mode is still so far from where it could be at this point with a little more of attention and effort. I recently read the topic on the new Madden superstar mode, which looks very interesting, i saw the video....and then I played Live 05 and found the dynasty mode so limited in comparison.....It feels like there is almost nothing to do there but playing..

I am personally getting tired and tired of NBA games recently. The season is long and full of games...so 99% of your time goes into playing 5on5 game after game, while I would prefer giving more space to the management part of it...just to break the boredom.

Here are some key things:
- creation zone has really become a must have for a sport game (for non-pc users). It's a shame we still don't have it....Hello EA? Create a team, create the arena, create the logo, create the jersey, create the court (colors, floor type and so on) are all a MUST in my opinion.

- Reality-like Free agency: why I cannot use the salary cap exceptions? It's in the league rules....why can't my team use it?

- Is it that difficult to add some financing like madden has since many years ago? Game ticket price, parking tickets and so on...

These are just 3 areas of improvement that come to mi mind right now, but I'm sure there are so many others. Possibility are almost endless in these terms

And why not? A more TV-like presentation, with some weekly TV reports on what happend in the league, hot players, major injuries, bug trades (not a mistyping error here)...and even some quick clip or report on next draftees (but maybe I am going too far here...)

All of this I think is possible, like madden (or even NFL 2k) teaches.

My understanding is the features will be the same, the Xbox360 version will simply take advantage of the new console's power with much better graphics.
