Graphics on XBOX 360 vs the rest of consoles nd pc

Wed Jun 29, 2005 7:09 pm

i donk know if all of u guys have seen the preview of nba live 06 showing seattle vs detroit but the graphics nd the movements of the players r juss phenominal. the video showcases the next generation module but here's the problem. there's several clips of the game at the nba live homepage nd those preveiws dont even compare close to the clip of the sonics vs pistons. MY QUESTION IS, will the graphics turn out comparabley different between the xbox 360 nd the rest of the consoles nd the pc OR is the SONICS vs PISTONS clip juss another moderation of the actual game to draw costumers????

Xbox720 - good graphics and so on.
PC/PS2/Xbox - bad graphics and so on.

THIS SUCKS !

I believe that the XBox 360 graphics will look almost completely like we've seen in the previews.
The consoles + PC version will most likely be a graphic-wise lighter version. The gameplay should be the same as well as all the features and so on, but the graphics will be greatly reduced. PC could of course look better though (depending on your graphics card) considering it'll have much higher resolutions and perhaps some graphic options.

If you want the next gen Live this year, 2005, you'll have to get it on Xbox 360, period.

Next year, 2006, you'll be able to get next gen Live on PS3, Xbox360, and probably PC by then, but not this year.

I don't see why should the PC game be worse than XBOX 360, it should be conditioned by your graphic card and your micro and motherboard. A guy with a Pentium IV 3.2 Ghz + 1024 RAM + Geforce 6800 Ultra should play the game no different than someone owning an XBOX 360.

That's pretty much true. But what about the people that don't have such a great computer? I doubt that EA will want to loose more than half of their PC market; it goes against why they have the PC version in the first place.

True. They are putting whole lot more time on 360 than on pc/ps2/xbox. I just don't think 06 graphic is better than 05 graphic from what i have seen so far (i'm talking about ps2/xbox/pc). I just can't compare 360 version to pc/ps2/xbox version because 360 looks too good to be compared.

The good thing about PCs is that you can have different level of details in terms of graphics. people with better graphic cards will have better graphics, and so on. EA won't loose the PC market, first because thre's no competiton in such market, second because the graphics are not gonna be worse than in NBA LIve 2005. Gameplay improvements won't be denied by hardware limitations unless those limitations are you are running some Pentium II. ;)
What is really ridiculous is making a better looking game for XBOX 360 and not allowing PC users to enjoy such quality of graphics evn if they have the hardware required to do so. ;)

Well, I see it like this: moving jerseys, highly detailed accessories, pearls of sweat and so on is not something that you can just lowerd the textures and call it good; the XBox 360 version will hold an incredible amount of polygons. And if you want to give the user the abilities to choose from different settings, you need to first make all the captions and movements that the models will have, and then also make 2-3 different variants of them depending on how many polygons the user might be able to handle; and then also incorporate all these versions into the game and it's code... It'll not only take up a lot more space, but also take up a vast amount of code. Also the time it would take for the team to make the 2-3 different variations of movements and detail settings would push the release-date up by, at the very least, a month...
I don't see how it'd be possible for them to do that, without spending a lot of time and money on doing it. Besides, their not going to loose as much money not doing it, as they would doing it. The only thing I see against it, is that people like you will hold it against them for not doing it, thus loosing a few peoples respect. There's always next year...

my main interest relies on the gameplay, graphics are only an accesory, decoration stuff, there's plenty to do in terms of gameplay. Moving jerseys?? I don't care, but it would be nice if I am able to take advantage of my graphic card (Nvidia and ATI won't sell a graphic card if software development companies keep on releasing games you can play at higher detail with a 5 years old graphic card) instead of selling it out to have a PS3 and keep my Pc just for internet navigation and office stuff.

They don't need to make different movements. Textures, advanced inventory (such as real TV screen, maybe croud) and such things as sweat, blur and so on.

Yeah...Andreas they'll have to do it this year or next year. Why not make it sooner? And they would have to do different movements of the jerseys. They should just have options to turn the movement on or off. Which is two different movements in reality...but that's not too bad. Same thing with sweat and so on...just be able to turn on and off, like this year's lighting.

Which system would hold more polygons; XBOX 360 or PS3? I almost definitely will be getting an XBOX 360 just because of this game.
