Grr... Damn that Gilbert Arenas... Shaq will be 36 next year... can he win a title without Kobe... let's see..
Nice job winning X, looks like the Bobcats are trying to become the best expansion team to hit th eleague since the T-Wolverines...
You know I'll be rooting for New York in the next round, for obvious reasons...

Hmm, I'll just say LETS GO CATS and try to win something with my own Knicks.
Very surprised I'm leading the prediction stuff, didn't really think I had anything right, except your series.

PLAYOFFS 1st ROUND RESULTS
WEST
(8) LA Lakers defeats (1) Sacramento 3-1
In a huge upset, the No. 8 seed LA Lakers once again caused a playoff boilover against the Sacramento Kings from a lower seed. The Lakers used strong play by rookie PG Leo "Seraph" Reyes in the 1st 3 games (before he was injured) to take a 2-1 lead, and were able to hold on and take the series in 4.
LA Lakers: L. Reyes - 3 games (injured), 17.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 7.0apg, 1.33spg, 1.0TOpg, 47.4% FG, 31.6% 3Pt, 83.3% FT
Sacramento: M. Bibby - 16.5ppg, 8.5apg, 1.50spg, 39.1% FG, 28.6% 3Pt.
(4) Dallas defeats (5) Houston 3-2
This was a very unusual series for these 2 teams as it was very low scoring and the Mavs found a way to advance. Dallas was able to win this 5 game slugfest without breaking the 90 point barrier. Times have definitely changed I guess.
Dallas: D. Nowitzki - 20.4ppg, 8.6rpg, 1.40bpg, 1.40spg, 96.2% FT
Houston: T. McGrady - 2520ppg, 9.2rpg, 5.6apg, 3.40spg, 53.9% FG, 50.0% 3Pt, 81.8% FT
Houston: H. Glow - 10.4ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.8apg, 1.40spg, 31.7% FG, 31.6% 3Pt, 100.0% FT
(6) Memphis defeats (3) Minnesota 3-1
Another upset as the Grizzlies blew away the Timberwolves in 4 games, including a 44 point drubbing to win the series. So much for MVP Kevin Garnett, who once again choked when it mattered. Gasol and the Grizzlies are moving on as they try to advance to their franchise's 1st NBA Finals appearance in their history.
Memphis: P. Gasol - 18.5ppg, 10.5rpg, 3.0apg, 1.50bpg, 1.50spg, 55.8% FG, 88.9% FT
Minnesota: W. Szczerbiak - 12.8ppg, 7.8rpg, 35.2% FG, 0.0% 3Pt (0/8), 59.1% FT
(2) San Antonio defeats (7) Denver 3-2
For a moment there it looked like the Spurs might lose this one, but they dug deep and won tough games in Games 3 and 5, and their experience was the decisive factor in this one.
San Antonio: T. Duncan - 22.8ppg, 11.8rpg, 3.0apg, 1.40spg, 1.20bpg, 54.1% FG
Denver: C. Anthony - 25.6ppg, 10.4rpg, 5.4apg, 1.80spg, 1.20bpg, 53.5% FG, 57.1% 3Pt, 82.4% FT
EAST
(1) Detroit defeats (8) Indiana 3-2
As with the Spurs, the Pistons needed their backs to be against the wall to wake up. Wake up they did as they easily won the final 2 games of the series to win in 5 games.
Detroit: R. Wallacel - 23.2ppg, 10.4rpg, 2.80bg, 2.60spg
Indiana: J. Tinsley - 11.4ppg, 3.4rpg, 6.0apg, 2.20spg, 32.2% FG, 31.2% 3Pt.
(4) Washington defeats (5) Orlando 3-2
This was a back-and-forth series that was hard to pick. The final 2 games were both decided by one single point, and the Magic have to be crushed with this loss. Sit's going fishing I guess. As for the Wizards, congrats to them as they have had a long playoff drought, and they are finally back in the mix.
Washington: A. Jamison - 24.4ppg, 11.8rpg, 2.00spg, 1.00bpg, 53.1% FG, 90.5% FT
Washington: S. Biason - 2.8ppg, 0.4rpg, 0.6apg, 38.5% FG, 50.0% 3Pt, 60.0% FT
Orlando: S. Francis - 14.8ppg, 4.6rpg, 5.8apg, 2.20spg, 37.7% FG, 18.2% 3Pt
Orlando: W. Sit - 1.0ppg
(3) New York defeats (6) Boston 3-0
Knicks blew the Celtics out of the water in 3 straight games. I had a feeling Knicks would roll of the C's and they did. The Truth's superb series didn't make a difference as Starbury and the Knicks advance to the 2nd Round.
New York: S. Marbury - 20.3ppg, 4.0rpg, 13.3apg, 2.00spg, 1.33TOpg, 35.1% FG, 16.7% 3Pt, 86.4% FT
Boston: P. Pierce - 35.0ppg, 7.0rpg, 6.0apg, 2.00spg, 55.6% FG, 43.5% 3Pt, 83.3% FT
(7) Charlotte defeats (2) Miami 3-2
I think a lot of people had a feeling that this was going to be close with the young Bobcats winning in 5 gruelling games. Unbelievably, the home team did not win a single game in this series. Fortunately for Charlotte, they were the lower seed. Meka was great in this series, but the real question on everyone's lips is if this is the last we will see of Shaq. I hope not.
Charlotte: E. Okafor - 19.6ppg, 12.4rpg, 1.80bpg, 58.2% FG, 28.6% FT (6/21)
Charlotte: A. Watson - 3.3ppg, 33.3% FG, 28.6% 3Pt
Miami: B. Cook - 5.6ppg, 7.6rpg
Thu Jun 23, 2005 8:34 pm
but the real question on everyone's lips is if this is the last we will see of Shaq
You murdered a fine career there... shame on you, X... j/k
Just trade for him next season and get him another ring, presto!

Round 2 is upon us....check out the playoff brackets below....

X's 2nd ROUND PREDICTIONS:
Here is my 2nd Round predictions. Please click on a team's name to go to their playoff roster.
WEST
(4) Dallas defeats (8) LA Lakers 3-1
Lakers might have been impressive in the 1st Round, but the 2nd Round is a whole another ballgame. Factor in that star rookie PG Leo "Seraph" Reyes is likely to miss the first couple of games of this series and the team has no other PG on the roster, this spells trouble for the Lakers. Meanwhile, the Mavericks did not score 90 points in any game against the Rockets, and are bound to break out of their slump and light up the Lakers. Mavs should take control of this series and by the time Reyes returns for the Lakers, it should be too late. I'm picking the Mavericks in 4 games.
(2) San Antonio defeats (6) Memphis 3-1
Grizzlies played great in the 1st Round against the T'wolves and thoroughly deserved to move on. The same can't be said for the Spurs, who were given fits by the always dangerous Denver Nuggets. Spurs are awake now and should take this one in 4 tough games, with the Grizzlies playing them tough.
EAST
(1) Detroit defeats (4) Washington 3-1
I picked the Pistons to blow away the Pacers, but the Pistons waited until the 11th hour to come through and take the series. I am once again expecting the Pistons to advance comfortably, although I'm allowing them one hicup along the way. Pistons in 4.
(3) New York defeats (7) Charlotte 3-1
Knicks are rolling and the Bobcats won't enjoy the hostility of MSG. Bobcats should be able to steal 1 or possibly even 2 games, but the experience of the Knicks should be too much for the Bobcats as they move with 3 games of their 2nd NBA Finals appearance in the last 3 years. Knicks to advance in 4, but not before they are tested by the young 'Cats.
Get your picks in guys....good luck and you'll need it....

BOBCATS PLAYOFF COVERAGE
ROUND 2 - (3) New York Knicks
Matched up against the No. 3 seeded New York Knicks, the Charlotte Bobcats once again have their work cut out for them if they are to make an unlikely trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.
RECENT HISTORY:
Season Series: 2-0
April 7, 2007 - Charlotte 96 @ Miami 87 (SIMMED GAME)
April 14, 2007 - Charlotte 129 vs Miami 128 (HUMAN GAME)
Let's take a look at the positional battles in this Eastern Conference Semi-Final matchup.
CENTRES: Guy Dumars vs. Loren Woods
Guy Dumars is what Loren Woods was suppose to be, so this matchup is more interesting than it looks on paper. You would have to favour Dumars in this matchup, as his athleticism and superior offensive ability should aide him in coming out on top of this battle. Although, it should be noted that the Bobcats shouldn't underrate Woods, who is capable of some double-double nights if given the chance. This is the last thing the Bobcats will want to happen, so look for Dumars to play him tough at both ends of the court.
Verdict: Charlotte
FORWARDS: Emeka Okafor/Bobby Simmons vs. Kurt Thomas/Tim Thomas
This is a pretty even matchup with the "doubting Thomases" battling the Bobcats duo that was so great against the Heat. Kurt Thomas will be solid as usual, but it is Tim Thomas who is key for the Knicks. If Timmy gets going, then it could be trouble for the Bobcats. It will be Bobby Simmons' job to battle Thomas to a standstill. As for Okafor, if he is anywhere near as effective against the Knicks as he was against the Heat, then the Knicks are in for a tough series. I do however have a feeling that Kurt Thomas is going to make it tough for Meka. Based on the Heat series, I really do have to give a slight edge to the Bobcats in the frontcourt, although it will come down to who comes out and plays harder as to decide who will end up the victor in this area.
Verdict: Charlotte
GUARDS: Marko Jaric/Gilbert Arenas vs. Jamal Crawford/Stephon Marbury
Arenas and Marbury should play each other to a standstill, so the backcourt battle is not decided at the PG position. Once again, Marko Jaric starts the series as the starting SG, and will hope to continue on his solid play. Jaric is matched up against the Knicks' Jamal Crawford, who like Jaric is another combo guard. However, unlike Jaric, Crawford is more comfortable at the SG spot rather than the PG spot and is capable of huge offensive explosions and can carry this Knicks team on his back. I have a feeling that we will see at least one or two of these explosions. How the Bobcats combat these explosions will go a long way in the outcome of the series.
Verdict: New York
BENCH:
The Charlotte Bobcats will run with a bench lineup primarily consisting of Nene, Nick Van Exel and Luke Walton. The New York Knicks will mainly run with Allan Houston, Michael Sweetney and Penny Hardaway. Houston and Penny were stars in their days, but have been slowed considerably by injuries, but are capable of big nights. Their experience will be vital in this series. As for Sweetney, this bruiser will have to come in and play guys like Okafor and Nene tough. He's got the physicality to do it, it's just a matter of him going out there and doing that. Nene and Van Exel are getting over minor injuries, but they shouldn't hinder their games too much. Van Exel has always like bombing on the Knicks in MSG, and I have a feeling he'll be in his element in this series. Also look for Walton to have an increased role in this series, especially if Simmons has problems containing Tim Thomas.
Verdict: Even
INTANGIBLES:
Knicks are riding high after series sweep of the Boston Celtics. They are also looking at getting their 2nd title in the last 3 seasons. They are experienced in the playoffs and have some bigtime offensive weapons, as well as homecourt advantage. The Bobcats are still under an injury cloud with Nene and Van Exel nursing injuries that they will try to play through. The Bobcats have nothing to lose as no one expected them to get this far, however, in the end I think the pressure of the occasion will get the better of them.
Verdict: New York
RESULT:
This series really could go either way, but I've got a feeling that the Knicks will prove to be too much for the young Bobcats and move onto the Conference Finals.
Prediction: Knicks win 3-1

I think that in the end that you will probably be right....I think the 2 simmed games and 1 intervention game in this series will haunt me, as I believe my luck will run out in that regard....I think this one will go to 4 or 5 games....if it goes to a 5th game, I like my shot to advance as that is a human game....should be a good series either way
