Talk about NBA Live 06 here.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 2:03 am
After watching those 3 gameplay movies- wanted to tell you about 2 things that made me mad.
one- the nets. i'm talkin' about their look and the animation. damn EA! can't you take 5 mins, and make some good lookin' animation at last?!
the nets seem to be very stiff, not soft enough- and their shape- is too roundy. you just don't wanna put the ball inside.
(i'm talking about the nets inda PS2/XBOX version- cause inda 360 they look amazing)
2nd thing- i noticed that the Phoenix Sun's- America West arena- still has the black outbounds (you know what i mean.. ) Didn't they changed the color to yellow/brown?! (i know it's not a problem to patch it for the pc.. but what about the PS2 playaz? I'm a sun's fan- and the brown color gives my a home feeling..)
So.. Let me see what you've to say..

Last year when these type of videos first came out, the nets weren't that good either..
I think they'll improve it.
They probably haven't do much to the courts or stadium. Because in the article, they said they'll have very detailed stadiums... But in the video, they seem like 05's. So I think/hope it'll surely change.

I agree. they should refurbish the net physics and also the players graphics because right now NBA 2K6 already got the perfect Net physics if some of you had seen their FINALS sim movie clip and no question that they are superior in graphics department.
But of course in terms of GAMEPLAY, which is the no. 1 important factor in the game NBA LIVE is ahead especially the entry of the NEW Superstar Mode..
Fri Jun 17, 2005 3:37 am
How do you know NBA Live is ahead when you haven't even played either game?
Fri Jun 17, 2005 6:50 am
Because
that much doesn't change in one year

.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 6:52 am
But he hasn't played either of the two? How did he come to the conclusion that Live is better? That's like saying Bryant > Jordan but I haven't seen them play.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 6:53 am
I know. I was just knocking the history of 2k's gameplay.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 7:17 am
The game isn't coming out in a long, long time. If you see the same thing in September then you should worry.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 2:02 pm
For me, it's not a big deal. Obviously I would appreciate authenticity, but it's something I can overlook if the rest of the graphics are impressive and most importantly, gameplay and Dynasty Mode fulfil my expectations.

ESPN 2K5 was miles better than NBA Live 2005. So you're right,
that much doesn't change in a year
That being said, I really hope Live is better this year... I feel dirty buying ESPN games

Eew, 2k5? Bad graphics by comparison, worst dribbling controls ever, terrible jumpshot animation... Much better Dynasty mode.

You're kidding? I'm assuming you only played it for a few hours because I hated the dribbling controls to begin with... now I'd actually prefer Live's to be more like it.

No dude, I can't stand the IsoDribble thing, it's terrible (IMO, obviously). I much prefer the EA Sports version. I've played it a lot, actually, I just don't like it that much. We'll see. I'm getting really irritated with Live's terrible simulation stats (same with their hockey game), so I'm gonna dig 2k5 out of my drawer and give it another go. The graphics are still ugly by comparison and the jumpshot animation looks like something a 16 year-old put together in computers class at high school though. So bad, so jerky...

Hold your fuckin horses (excuse me).
The Suns court will be fixed, keep in mind its not even half way done, the nets are gonna be fine, don't whine.
ESPN sucks, I use to love it until it started skipping, so fuck that shit by 2K Games, and EA Sports is doing a fantastic job at what they are doing, I brok out Live 96 and I must say, we've come a long fucking way from the insane 2D world.
And the Jumpshots? They are fine, have you seen the beauty of Ray Allen's Jumper in the 3 Ball Competition? If you haven't take another gander buddy.

How many times do we look at the net when we are playing a game? And how many times we look at the court and the fans? I dont care much about that little stuff. But if the EA people have extra time then they should work on it.

IsoDribble is great... for 1 move only lol. The only thing it works with is kind of speeding past your opponent, which isn't really speeding because it launches into some animation of your player driving past him. The rest of it as you said is terrible... alot of things with ESPN need to be worked on definitely, but I find it less arcade-like than Live. It is actually quite smooth when you learn to play it a certain way, also you can hit a player running and it still looks really smooth and fluid.. unlike Live's theory of making it look like Netball 2005 where the player stops as soon as he touches the ball. I'll still get both for next year, the game wit the best Dynasty mode will be the one I play the most.

For me, personally, the nets and the rims, are some of the most important details inda game. call me a freak- but even when i go play inda hood, i can't play when the basket doesn't have a perfect net.
you know- eventually, it comes to puttin' the ball inda rim- and there's nothing better than a realistic swish for me- to get satisfied- that's the only thing that motivates me to try over and make another basket.

I guess everybody has their own things that they feel are important in the game.
Mon Jun 20, 2005 6:42 pm
Jeez why is it posible to see the mesh holes from so far away? They are not that big!

So do I but DAMN that association mode is sweet as hell and offers more depth than any Dynasty.

Yeah, there's ONE move I like, when he goes into that cutting animation and bodies past the player, that's really nice. The one where he uses his left arm to put it around and under his left leg while remaining basically in place is worthless shyte.
Yeah, it does play smooth. As I noted in my recent post, I'm a good dribbling system away from being a total 2k5 slave. It's better in many ways that I didn't realize until recently after some extensive play.
But the dribbling and the crap post controls are really off-putting.
