Andrew,
What does "Fakeout Discipline" mean? What happens when it is a higher or lower number?
Is there a link explaining all the gameplay settings?

it determines how effective fakes will be at eluding defenders.

Hi all. I have been playing with these sliders some time. I think they are the most realistic i have played. I challenge you all to test them!

You apply them yourself. They're stored in a .dat file but I believe that file also contains most (if not all) of the other game settings, some of which may not be to your liking (or as far as detail settings are concerned, suitable for your PC's capabilities).

I'm having some problems with the realistic sliders (the one's posted on the main page).

I'm always getting 120+ points games and often over .500 for the team FGA. Fouls aren't too good either as I'm usually getting a 2:1 ratio against me.

I'm playing at All-Star, 12 minutes quarters and usually, I take control of the PG on defense so the shooting fouls rarely comes from me.

So what would be the specific slider to drop down both team FGA and points at the same time?

When I was playing 10 minutes quarters it worked fine but in a season, I do check out the minutes played stat a lot so... :(

Does anyone have any suggestions for my sliders? Currently these are the ones im using:

Quarter Length: 9 mins
Difficulty: All-Star
GLOBAL:

Game Speed: 50
Free Throw Difficulty: 22 (I suck at FT shooting)
Boundary Force Field: 70
Injury Frequency: 100
Fatigue Effect: 50
Charge/Block Foul Frequency: 80
Shooting Foul Frequency: 50
Reach-in Foul Frequency: 55
In-air Collision Foul Frequency: 100

USER:

User Steal Ability: 45
User Interception Ability: 40
User Shot Block Ability: 50
User Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 45
User Freestyle Effectiveness: 55
User Dunk vs. Lay-up Frequency: 50
User Substitution Frequency: 80
User On-ball Defense Assist: 70

User Medium Range Shooting: 50

User Adjusted Shot Percentage: 50
User On-ball Defense: 90
User Poor Release Shot Percent: 50
User Double-team Effectiveness: 100
User Pro Hop Effectiveness: 55
User Drop Step Effectiveness: 55

CPU Steal Ability: 15
CPU Interception Ability: 10
CPU Shot Block Ability: 0
CPU Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 0
CPU Freestyle Effectiveness: 40

CPU Adjusted Shot Frequency: 35
CPU On-ball Physical Defense: 30
CPU Poor Release Shot Percent: 35
CPU Double-team Effectiveness: 30

Usually I get scores that are in the 120s for both teams, not uncommon for me to be playing in a game where the teams combine for 300.

Damn!! 300 combine in a 9 minutes game. Even with my ratings I never went that high in 10 minutes.

So I would suggest putting the Poor Release Shot Percent higher for both the CPU and User (which will force you to release better shots) and lowering range shooting until you can get a realistic FG% for both teams.

Hope this helps!

The reason why the scoring is so high is because of the inside scoring (including the CPU) and low levels of defense. I have made my final adjustment to the sliders and my scores for 12 min quarters are NBA standard. It is hard to score 100 points with them. Hey boss Andrew, I hope you try these too ^^.

Ron's Final All-Star Sliders

Global Sliders

Game Speed: 33
Free Throw Difficulty: 40
Boundary Force Field: 50
Injury Frequency: 60
Fatigue Effect: 55
Charge/Block Foul Frequency: 50
Shooting Foul Frequency: 10
Reach-in Foul Frequency: 15
In-air Collision Foul Frequency: 60

User Sliders

User Steal Ability: 10
User Interception Ability: 10
User Shot Block Ability: 10
User Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 33 (makes it harder to score in the paint)
User Freestyle Effectiveness: 33

User Short Range Shooting: 30
User Medium Range Shooting: 45
User Long Range Shooting: 45

User Adjusted Shot Percentage: 0

You and the CPU will still score on the inside at a regular rate, but not quite as successful as before because of the defense, positioning, etc.

User On-ball Defense: 100
User Poor Release Shot Percent: 10
User Double-team Effectiveness: 100
User Pro Hop Effectiveness: 33

Are these sliders for simulation or action?

Please advice.

Thank you in advance.

I did that using DB Commander, basically lowering everybody 5 points and some others more than 5 that didn't fit my criteria. What I did was averaged the last 3 season from the top blockers and I came up with the following.

Theo 3.51 (last 3 seasons)
Ben Wallace 2.85 bpg
T Duncan 2.75
Kirilenko 2.75
Shaq 2.39

And I gave the following rating:

B Wallace 93
T Duncan 91
Camby and Theo 87
Shaq 85
Z 84
Kato and Brand 82
And so on.

I also took in account the durability of each players and that's why Theo didn't get the highest rating but Big Ben.

You need to save your settings. Sliders aren't stored in a DBF file.

m.k. I use andrew's v.2.0 and made a few tweaks (tweaks that fits you) and it worked fine with me. I play 7 mins all-star and I get an average of 60 ppg whether simulated or not. computer is very competitive. I had a game last night that ended after 2 ot's (I had to admit i'm not that good) I use spurs and it was against detroit in my spurs dynasty. (finals prediction heheh)

try it, (Y) you might enjoy it.

Never encountered that problem, that is one way to save the settings (the game prompting you after changing the sliders). I'd suggest saving them again in Load/Save though.

Friends -

1. Hey guys so what is the answer? are these settings for simulation or action? or both?

2. And what are the sliders are being employed when you just want to watch a game CPU vs CPU?

I'll be looking forward for your inputs.

1. Simulation, though if you were to change the Arcade sliders to these sets it wouldn't make a difference. That toggle option basically allows you to have two sets of sliders, one for realistic gameplay and one for arcade-style gameplay, that you can easily switch between without changing all the sliders.

2. Can't help you there, I only develop User vs CPU sliders.
