Sliders - out or in?

Tue May 31, 2005 4:24 pm

Are you in favor of it? In Nba Live 2005 and the previous ones we had sliders. I think it is too much time consuming and it gets very tedious when you don't get the expected results. I think they didn't have sliders on Nba Live 2000. Live 2000's gameplay was sooo good you didn't need to have them.

Are you in favor of it ? or would you rather not have sliders to work on and have hope EA to create the perfect gameplay atmosphere possible.

i'm still in favor with the sliders..but if the default gameplay is going to be good, i'll just not ticker with em sliders...... 8-)

They should keep it, for the sake of allowing us to change it to each players liking.

Tue May 31, 2005 5:09 pm

If the sliders arent working, why keep it?

Tue May 31, 2005 5:14 pm

why do you say the sliders aint working?

BTW cool sig

Set youre lay-up % to 100 and still you miss lay-ups. Do they know what 100% mean? God..

Without sliders this game becomes redundant.

maybe God is more than 100%

Tue May 31, 2005 7:45 pm

Hmmm. Could it be a combination of sliders and ratings that dictate layup success?, nah that would just be silly.

It's more about the "comeback code", which I'm starting to suspect has more to do with FG% and home team advantage than it does with screwing over the players.

They aren't have you shoot one hundred percent, it just boosts the shot ability and percentage of making shots. That's all.

Definately have sliders, please, what if the original settings aren't good, their should be no question as to whether or not sliders should be put in the game. It's a must have.

Wed Jun 01, 2005 4:10 am

It wouldn't make sense not to have sliders because they are such a big part of the game and there are many people that play the game different. It really wouldn't be right for all of them to have the same type of gameplay settings. I'm really happy that Ea start adding the sliders in 2004. Even though sometimes the block sliders and all of that doesn't work, it's still good to have and I'm glad that added it because it helps some people to play more realistically in the game and if you want to play arcad-ish then you can make your sliders that way.

i think they should keep the sliders but also make preset sliders for each dif level based on how they think the game should be played.

The best thing to happen to the Live series besides them getting the license to use real names etc of the NBA players is sliders. In other words, keep it.

There's a lot of people achieving success with slider tweaks, which suggests they do work. As I said in the other thread, NBA Live 2000's gameplay has got flaws that don't get mentioned today. With such a diverse range of playing styles, sliders are pretty much a necessity. Before NBA Live 2004, if there was something you didn't like about the gameplay it was pretty much impossible to change it.

Of course I'd like the gameplay of NBA Live 06 to be as good as possible, but there are some things that aren't governed by the sliders alone. There's no way sliders should be removed. Look how many people credit the addition of sliders to their enjoyment of the last two games. That suggests while the default sliders may not be tilted far enough in the direction of realism, they serve the purpose.

There is no advantage in making the game less customisable.

customable is a great word to describe it

Sliders are a must... When you are constantly beating the opposition by 40 points, no matter who you're playing against, it just isn't enjoyable anymore.

You can at this point tweak the sliders and lower your scoring sliders a bit and get a more competetive game or just raise the AI scoring sliders and voila... You either get lower scores or your opponent scores more.

This was the biggest problem with Live 2000... After a few games, you just couldn't lose and there was nothing you could do about it.

Wed Jun 01, 2005 3:32 pm

Absolutely. Beyond tweaking the game for realism, sliders can be used to tilt the advantage greatly in favour of the CPU, giving the best and most experienced players a bit more of a challenge.

if the gameplay is good then sliders aren't neccessary. but even if it is improved where they aren't neccessary (which i am highly skeptical of) people would still whine about the fact that it's not there. so keep them for the hell of it so ppl have less to cry about

Different people have different views on what is "good". For you a "good" gameplay could be running back and fourth launching 3's and expecting them to go in. For me a "good" gameplay could mean just dunking back and fourth. To someone else a whole defensive oriented game could be considered as "good".

Given the meaning of "good" gameplay varies from person to person, sliders is a good thing. It lets people customise the game to their own preferance of "good" gameplay.

I for one like the sliders alot, as I am a hard learner (in other words an uber n00b) I like to have 100 on almost all user sliders and a bit less for CPU (I like to have player lock and I want to be able to rely on my teammates often so I don't make them too low)

keep sliders i guess, but some of them dont do anything....like the rebounding, you can toggle however much you want but most of the time the defense will rebound.
