This is a great game, nothing can be more realistic than this game. Imagine you are a player on the court, if your skill is as bad as your NBA Live skill, wouldn't your opponent block most shots you made, wouldn't they dunk everyting over your head????? You can only improve your own Live skill to make the game more enjoyable and more realistic.
By the way, last roster patch I downloaded sucks, 'cause Yao Ming's rating reduced from 78 to 71, is he that bad?????? He scored 20pts in 23min two nights ago, I mean he's only a rookie, and he just moved to here, he has a lot of things to adjust.

Yeah he still sucks he dropped 20 on Serge Medevenko then turns around and gets 9 read it 9 points against the CAVS. Dude sucks right now give him two years a lot of beating and then maybe he'll score ten against the Cavs.

he played 18 minutes only. he was 4/5 from the field with 6 boards.
now imagine if he played more minutes

9pts, 6rebs, 2blks in 18mins. I will take that from my backup center anyday in NBA!!!
gosh, there are just so little center in NBA that even Zydrunas Ilgaukas (spelling anyone?) is considered one of the better center in NBA right now. Yet Ming dropped 9pts on him and have a block on him also, that's is just good play!!!

Oh yeah, and if you defend against Tim Hardaway, he runs around you 13 times, drinks a coffee, gets to the other end of the court in 3 seconds and hits 15 3pointers straight before you can say "Oh". Oh, and all this while you're double-teaming him. Realistic? Sure, if you only like NBA Action, and "Courtside Countdown". But NBA games are not about players flashing around on the court like supermen.

Ming is getting posterized everygame!, anyone see Finley throw that shit down on Yao?
Mon Feb 24, 2003 3:22 pm
i certainly saw kobe put it down on yao, last week i think
Tue Feb 25, 2003 9:18 am
yer, ming is getting posterized everygame but it shows that he is willing to contest shots, wait a year or two for him to adjust to the nba lifestyle and who know's........ we could have "mount ming " shaking his finger at the offence

What I "love" the most in this game is the way the CPU is "setting up" plays. lol Setting up plays means for the AI the following: one of the players, it can be the center, or the pf, it doesn't matter, takes the ball and runs around with it along the three-point line, the the baseline, if it can't find a shot, it turns around, and runs back to the other side, strickly following the three point line, and does it until it finds an open shot. And the funniest thing is that usually 2 or 3 of his teammates are running along with him. lol It's just ridiculous guys, come oooon... Yeah, it is the closest the Live series ever got to realistic, but it's still miles away from it.
Oh, btw... talking about scripted wins and stuff... In the Finals I played against Toronto, I was losing by a couple of points a minute before the end of the game, and the game froze on me. So I played it again, and I lost again. I swept the Mavs before that, so it was kinda surprising, so I decided to play it again, just for fun. Toronto won again. Just out of curiousity I loaded that game again, and of course Toronto won again.
It can be a fun game, but let's not call it a simulation...

lol yeah i love THAT play. Stupid AI. I always curse quietly when they decide to take 2 or 3 of their players and start running around the perimeter along the baseline and then get some lame layup. The funny thing is I CANT stop it. I try to take a charge or something but they just go around and usually get a dunk/layup. Its the lamest looking play but it works because i can't stop it.

i agree with one of the first posts, if u r actualy playing then yes u should loew yao's rating, coz in the game i can get 50 + every game... when yao scores in NBA very rarly he puts a move on you, most of the time he just shoots over a 6'10 F... but in a game he ca score a lot more, so lowering him to 71 if very good...

I believe that stupid overhyped guy on the Rockets is about a 73 in my franchise. I did my own tweaks to certain players that weren't good enough *coughRickyDaviscough,* players that were too good *coughDariusMilescough,* or players I just don't like *coughDirkNowitzkicough.*

.
You're right, it's so realistic that I can score 100+ points playing on 6 minute quarters.

Although it is the best in the Live series so far. It still falls way below my expectations.
What NBA Live needs is some competition. Maybe if other developers release more hoop games (for the PC) then maybe Live will get a much needed facelift.
