v1.04 released...

Fri Feb 07, 2003 5:13 pm

I've released version 1.04 of the roster update. I've tried to satisfy everyone's requests and suggestions, as well as fixing up errors and adding the 2003 All-Star teams. Oh yeah, and the patch has up to date rosters and lineups. :)

You can download the patch here.

Please base all feedback (suggestions, corrections, technical issues) on the new version, chances are I fixed the problem that existed in 1.03 and earlier versions. :)

No need to apologise, it's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thanks for the list. :D

I forgot to mention that i had a BIG help from my friend Oswaldo Thompson on that list.... Thanks O.T. !!

Andrew, the tweaked ratings roster is MADE by D.K. or do you use his coefficients on YOUR roster?

Just wondering,
Eduardo

Sat Feb 08, 2003 11:58 am

DK has given me permission to use his coefficients, which I then apply to my roster patch. However, DK arrived at those coefficients as the result of his work, effort and experimentation, which is why I quite willingly give him credit for the tweaked version of the NLSC rosters (as I credit Kq for the tweaked rosters in the NBA Live 2001 roster patch).

Andrew,

Just wondering. Whenever I start a franchise mode using the first pick in the draft, I always start out not picking Dirk Nowitzki in my team. Being a Dirk fan, I always had to do some player trading before I start my first game.

Dirk's overall rating is '89'. However, on more than one occassion, I'd trade 2-3 of my players for him. When he's finally on my team, I'd notice his overall rating would drop down to '78'. Why is this? Is this a bug or is Dirk just disgruntled with the trade? :P

Mon Feb 10, 2003 5:48 pm

Are you using the tweaked rosters?

Mon Feb 10, 2003 6:04 pm

Yup.

Mon Feb 10, 2003 6:22 pm

I thought so. The tweaked version does behave like that, since I did not recalculate the overall ratings when I applied DK's coefficients. Roster moves cause re-calculation of the overall ratings, which is what you're seeing.

Tue Feb 11, 2003 3:17 am

Is there a way of preventing the re-calculation of the overall ratings after a roster move? If so, can you do that on the next roster release?
On DK's roster, does the same thing happen?

Peace.

Tue Feb 11, 2003 9:51 am

There's no way to prevent re-calculation. I assume the same issue exists in DK's roster, unless he re-calculated the overall ratings before release (in which case, Nowitzki would already be about 78 overall when the patch is installed).

The problem with tweaked ratings has always been the ratings. While they yield better gameplay results, they are not suitable for Franchise mode.

Tue Feb 11, 2003 12:38 pm

Andrew,

Having the overall rating changed is understandable. What bothers me is that the ratings themselves change after the move, usually by a point or two.

ie. From tweaked version, before trade --> 56
Franchise, tweaked, after the trade --> 55

Wed Feb 12, 2003 10:54 am

Another effect of applying the coefficients. Because the ratings are multiplied by a decimal, that kind of thing happens.

hi Andrew...

just wanted to ask if EA will release an official patch for the rosters... just wondered if you know anything about that... noticed that just past nba live games, EA deliberately forgets to update its rosters unlike with for example nhl 2003... updated rosters are always available... but why does EA not update its nba live series? that seems odd don't you think? thank god for patchers like you... gamers like us enjoy updated rosters which makes our nba live games more exciting... keep up the good work!!!!

Thanks for your kind comments, always nice to hear the rosters are being put to good use. :) As far as I know, EA do not plan to release any official roster updates for the PC version. I believe there's been at least a couple of official roster updates for the PS2 version.
