Like someone said before, there should a record book and the commentators should be able to say something like, "this guy is going for his 500th point of the season today." Something like that would be cool. :P

Some legends are not included due to licensing issues. If EA doesn't have permission to include them in the game, then they aren't in the game. It's not a matter of EA being lazy or not wanting to put those guys in the game. For one reason or another, they legally cannot include them in the rosters.

Can they put him in Live 2006?

Sun Apr 10, 2005 1:08 pm

Not if they don't have him signed to a deal for likeness rights.

Howdy,

I'm new to these posts so if I repeat anything....pard'n me.

The main problem I have with Live 2005 that I would like to see rectified in 2006 is the player models. The faces are ok. But the body models need to look more like Live 2004. The 2005 characters seem to scrawny with exception to a few players like Shaq.

Also, the create player models and head molds in 2006 are terrible. No matter how you mold the head, your player comes out looking like a dime store wooden indian statue. Again, return to the 2004 molds and that will be corrected.

As for everything else......do what you do best.

It would be really awesome if we can play dynasty mode in "direct connect" mode. I know it's on the wishlist, but is it possible to play dynasty in multiplayer? Like, when we play against a friend we shouldn't be able to simulate our games once we reach their team. The game won't allow us to continue until both of us agrees to simulate or play it. While one person waits to catch up we should be able to do other things like look at our scouting reports, stats, or whatever until a message appears informing us that we have an option of simulating or playing. It will be an awesome feature and quite possibly a revolution to the nba live's multiplayer mode. Everything will stay the same as it is in the single player dynasty mode, but then we will be playing it with other players. We just have to wait for our friend whenever we reach his/her team and before ending the season or reaching the nba allstar weekend. I'm convinced that this can be possible, they just have to figure out a way for it to work online.

Nice list, but I've already submitted the Wishlist to EA. Members of the production team do continue to browse our forums though.

Thu May 12, 2005 9:19 am

they should add Cheerleaders and Mascots too!

Thu May 12, 2005 9:27 am

Stealing a ball by the back. Hughes running behind Shaq's fast break should be able to do it...

Sat May 14, 2005 4:20 pm

EA should add an arm length feature. if hakeem warrick is gonna be in the league next year, i need to have him with at least a 206 inch wing span

Thu May 19, 2005 7:02 am

To maybe increase realism in the game, here are a few suggestions that would be useful. I also took one of the things Andrew put in and included more suggestions for that thing.

Add more announcers and commentators, perhaps leaving Marv and Mike for bigger games/designated TNT broadcasts.
With that, I propose that they do something like this. For the less important games, put in guys that are more central towards specifically your team (in Dynasty Mode) maybe it could be called EASN (EA Sports Network). For bigger games/playoff games/all star games, put Marv and Mike in and obviously call that network TNT.

Also, there are almost no trades during the year (maybe 5, not including the users team). Especially at the trading deadline, there should be a flurry of trades. Theres no way in the game that there would be 11 trades involving 36 players and 8 draft picks on one day. In fact that probably wouldn't happen in a year.

FASTBREAK FREESTYLE

Sun May 22, 2005 5:39 pm

I THINK THAT A GREAT NEW ADDITION TO THE LIVE SERIES THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN (IN ANY B-BALL GAME) WOULD BE A "FIRST-PERSON FASTBREAK FREESTYLE"....MUCH LIKE THE "FIRST-PERSON TACKLE VIEW" ON THE FIRST EDITION OF ESPN FOOTBALL. THINK ABOUT IT FOR A SEC.......YOU GET THE REBOUND ON A FASTBREAK AND GO INTO FIRST-PERSON FASTBREAK MODE PUTTING YOU MORE IN THE DRIVER SEAT LIKE NEVER BEFORE! AND THIS ADDITION COULD COINCIDE WITH A NEW FANCIER PASSING, SHOOTING, AND ALLEY-OOP GRAPHIC WHICH IN TURN WOULD LEAD TO BETTER INSTANT REPLAYS (OR BLOOPERS). NATURALLY POOR BALL HANDLERS WOULD NOT HAVE A FASTBREAK AS IMPRESSIVE AS JASON KIDD OR ALLEN IVERSON BUT IN REALITY CENTERS DO START MOST FASTBREAKS WITH THEIR REBOUNDS SO NOBODY SHOULD BE EXCLUDED FROM THIS OPTION IN THE GAME. BUT NATURALLY A FASTBREAK ONLY LASTS SO LONG. SO WHEN YOU ENTER FASTBREAK MODE THERE SHOULD BE A "BAR" MUCH LIKE THE STAMINA BAR THAT SLOWLY DECREASES AS YOU STAY IN THAT MODE AND WOULD REPLENISH AFTER YOU EXIT FASTBREAK MODE OR WHEN THE FASTBREAK IS OVER. IT MIGHT BE TRICKY TO FIND A BUTTON CONFIGURATION TO PULL THIS OFF BUT I THOUGHT THAT POSSIBLY CLICKING BOTH THUMBSTICKS AT THE SAME TIME COULD BRING YOU INTO "FIRST-PERSON FASTBREAK" AS WELL AS GETTING YOU OUT OF IT IF YOU DONT SEE ANY OPTIONS ON THE BREAK. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF MY IDEA AND WAYS THAT IT COULD BE BETTER.

Mon May 23, 2005 10:25 am

Please don't post in all capital letters, aside from being considered "bad netiquette" it's also very difficult to read. Personally, I don't think the idea is necessary at the moment, I'd prefer TV-style camera angles anyway.

NBA Needs This.................

Wed May 25, 2005 11:37 am

look first of all nba live 2005 and previous nba live's have been pretty average. the game play in most of the years past have been terrible. i'm not tryin to down the nba live franchise, but seriously doesn't anyone agree? look all i'm tryin to say is there is alot of serious improvement demanded for Live 06. I know it won't be easy but here's my list:

1) gameplay should definitely be improved! this meaning you cannot just "slide" past your defender while sprinting or crossing over. i'm not trying to compare with games (bcuz i've been a fan of live games since 97) but the gameplay in 06 should be similar to that of the NBA 2k5 game. in that game you can't just slide past your defender you have to work to get around them. even when you crossover sometimes you'll bump them. ok enough of that just please work on gameplay the most because 05's gameplay wasn't really realisic

2) my second issue is the alley-oops. why is it that when you throw an alley oop the player you throw it to doesn't look when he catches the lob. sometimes he just catches while already facing the hoop. now that is a major screw up. also at least 15 new alley oop dunks should be added. some should be amzing like 360's and windmills and some should just fit the situation of the play. like if jason kidd is runnin the floor with vc trailing it should be thrown off the backboard and i'm tryin to say all the time but occasionlly. but yeah like NBA 2k5 again the player recieveing the lob should look at where the ball is coming from and then catch and finish.

3) the fastbreak and basket cuts are another big issue is the live series. there are none! Live needs to fix the ai like everyone else was sayin and have your computer teamattes and your cpu oppenents run the floor with you and get back on defense with you.

4) passes is something that nba live never had. i'm sorry to say but live 06 should defenitely have jason kidd or steve nash type passes. ex: no looks, behind the backs, around the head, things of streetball type nature, but not to overboard. still try to keep it real! basket cuts should be added as well. you should be able to press a certain button combo to lead your player to the hoop with a pass or a lob.

5) the all star weekend is pretty good, but still needs just a little bit work. like the people in this forum were saying you need to be able to use more props like teamattes for lobs or even ball racks or even a crowd member! but i hope live doesn't change the way to dunk that was great! they should also add more dunks and dunk varations but also try to stay realistic. i don't think the cartwheel gather was really all that great. ok so the point is to add more better dunks, alot more dunks, more lobs, realistic scoring system (not so many 50's and not so many 0's), props, teamattes envolved, more nba stars on the sidelines, more commentary, and more room on the court to move.

6) there should be alot more shoes. simple as that. and there shouldn't be false advertisement. like for example dwyane wade should be wearing generic shoes he should were converse. and shaq doesn't wear generics either he wears his own brand. just have a better more larger variety and selection of shoes

7) more jerseys to choose from

8) team usa from every year and qualifying rounds

9) bring mj back as a legend. (becuz he is) not just an nba legend, should he be a 90's all star?

10) what about 2000-2005 all star teams as a team that you can choose to play with

11) 1 on 1 to 5 on 5 streetball mode

12) make crowd and nba atmosphere more realistic

13) alot more facial expressions, emotions, arguing with refs

14) more cut scenes

15) auto and manual substitution

16) better graphics (i know there will be)

17) summer leagues, street league

18) better practice (drills, situations, etc...)

19) more commentators and more phrases and sentences for certain situations

20) save ball from going out

21)better player intros

22) fix all gliches (behind the backboard shots, missed lobs, shots thru the backboard)

23) realism!

24)gameplay

25) real player saleries

26) real trading

i don't know if all this will happen or even get seen by the people of NBA live, but i hope so. and for all those who view this post i hope some people agree with me. if your a real NBA Live fan like me you should be hoping that all the things i listed and missed are fixed or added!

Wed May 25, 2005 7:03 pm

ok, I and everyone would agree that the models in '05 are totally obsolete. The players really look like crap. Here are some additional comments and suggestions:

- Player Models
The biggest glaring flaw is that players don't scale in realistic human anatomic proportions. To illustrate, try this: Get Yao Ming and Spud Webb on the court, get them close and pause the game. Switch to instant replay so you can zoom in. Notice that Yao's head is about the size of the basketball he's holding, while Spud's noggin is barely the size of a peanut. That's because the models scale in the cheap, lazy way: 100% ratio of everything. Anatomy Lesson for the retarded: when a person gets bigger, some body parts of stay the same, some parts get bigger but a slower ratio. Shame on you, EA.

Here are some gameplay mechanics that I think would help on AI and realism:

- Add Jumphot Proficiency slider to Player Stats
This works in conjunction with the off-balance/adjusted shot/freestyle sliders. This slider will have 1) "Technique" on one end, and 2) "Streak" on the other. In a prototypical player, the slider setting is in the middle, but most players will favor one end or the other.

1) If a player favors "Technique" that means he has better chance of making the shot if he is wide open and/or unchallenged. A technique shooter stands a better chance of making the shot even when the whole team is going through a cold streak. The good part is that even if he misses 10 in row, he less likely to perform any worse. The bad part is that if this play is being challenged, he has a disadvantage because he needs to adjust his techique. This type of shooter is better suited when playing a finesse, strategy-based style.

2) A "Streak"-favoring player is influenced more by team as well as personal cold and hot streaks. Being challenged and making adjusted shots are more likley to go in than a "Technique" shooter. However, this player must either establish a personal hot streak or take advantage of the team streak.

You can see how this can really influence gamplay, both for vs. players and vs. AI. When playing vs. player, If you know you opponent is a "Streak" shooter, you can take a chance and leave him open when he's doing not so hot, ever notice how sometimes when a player is SOOOO open for a shot, he misses? But when he's a "Technique" shooter, you you need to constantly apply pressure and think about positioning more.

Against the AI, this means that you will less liklely to see the cheese moves that the Comeback Code produces. For instance, you know that when the AI is on the "unstoppable" mode, the player does the pro-hop and either pulls a fade away or adjusts his shots when he's being challanged. Well, if he's a "Technique" shooter, he is less likely to make that type of shot. If he's a "Streak" shooter and makes it, that means he must've had a high enough personal streak to bybass the team streak, which makes sense in the real world.

Wed May 25, 2005 7:15 pm

Oops, one more thing:

All jumpshots should take into account of whether or not you are squaring your shoulders to the basket, and this should've been a type of adjusted shot. Live '05 totally neglects this and you have players spamming the 180-turnaround 3-pointer. If you don't take a brief pause so your player can sqaure up, you're decreasing your jumpshooting chances.

Streak shooters can get away with this more than a Technique shooter, of course.

Wed May 25, 2005 7:57 pm

Sorry for ranting, but here's another scenerio:

10 seconds left in the game and you're down by two.

You have a star SG with the best jumpshot rated in 90+, through out the game you've relied on him considerably, he's FG is currently something like 11/20, pretty decent, but not spectacular. He's a technique shooter.

On the other hand, your PG, who is a high-60 rating support player, has been racking up some points because your center and fowards have been overwhelmed and he's been your option #2. He's been able to pull in some clutch shots in late in the game. He's a streak shooter.

Who would you go to?

On one hand, you can rely on your star shooter, but you know that your opponent will surely add extra pressure put a center in front of you, making it more difficult. You need to really plan out your inbound play and execute to perfection you give you the best chance of making the shot.

On the other hand, your PG is in the zone and can be hot enough to make a tough, contested shot. The center taking you on will try to block or screw you up as much as he can, but hey, everything is falling for him!

In '05, you will only go to your 90+ rated superstar. But with the streak/technique factor, it makes this choice much more complex. An average-rated player maybe able to perform just as well as a an all-star if either **a) you know how to play your game, or b) try your luck** A streak player is high risk, while a technique player is low risk. Use your logic, plan out your strategy, execute with perfection, ---or--- take a blind roll of the dice and see what happens?

So in the end, it all relies on your gut feeling, which is the way it's supposed to be.
