Seattle Supersonics @ Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers found no answered to Lewis scoring barrage in the 1st period. Lewis tallied 17 points to outscore the whole Lakers team who managed just 16 points in this quarter. But in the 2nd quarter, Lakers tighten up their defense, not just against Lewis but to the whole team. With that defense, Sonics scored only 9 points in this period. Everything going right for the Lakers except a minor injury on Butler midway in the quarter. Lakers now held a 39-33 in a low scoring game.
Lakers brought their momentum in the 2nd half and extended to their biggest lead at 19 points. Bryant scored 17 points in this quarter while Butler came back after that injury to chip in 5 points. Lewis was held scoreless in the last 2 quarter while Allen saw limited minutes due to foul trouble. In the 4th period, Lakers just held on to that big lead and finished the game 88-77 to snap their 3 game losing streaks.

INJURY REPORT
Los Angeles Lakers @ Utah Jazz
With both Butler and Bryant playing with injuries, Lakers were still able to put a good fight against the Jazz. Odom led the Lakers in scoring and rebounds and the Lakers managed to tie the game after 1 quarter. But in the next quarter, the Jazz pull away behind great game from Jazz frontcourt. With Lakers starters struggling due to injuries to key player, they also don’t get much helped from their bench.
Lakers were able to trim the Jazz lead to a more manageable margin in this quarter. Bryant scored 13 points in this quarter but the Jazz frontcourt esp. Boozer successfully protected their lead. Again Lakers struggled in the last period and scored just 14 points. Jazz won this game with Boozer named Player of the Game, 1 rebound shy for a 20-20 performance.

Lakers playing with both Bryant and Butler completely recovered from their respective injury.
After Nuggets scored the 1st basket, Lakers made an 8-0 run to take a 6 point lead. They held on to that lead throughout the quarter. Nene got injured with less than 2 minutes in the quarter. Lakers held a 10 point lead 29-19 at the end of 1st period. In the next quarter, Lenard again torched the Lakers with his outside shooting. He scored 15 points in this period and helped the Nuggets cut the deficit to 6 points at halftime break.
3rd canto showed both team trading baskets. With that Lakers preserved their 6 point lead going to the last quarter. Nuggets gave Lakers some scary moments when they cut the deficit to a single point with less than a minute to play. Lakers put the lead back to 3 points but a follow-up dunk by Martin put them back within 1 point. They fouled Atkins, who made both free-throws. Lakers led 100-97 with 9 seconds left. Without a timeout, Nuggets quickly dribbled the ball to backcourt but before they reached the 3 point area to attempt a basket, Lakers intentionally gave up a foul instead giving the Nuggets a chance to throw desperation 3-point shot, Lakers gamble paid off as Miller missed the 1st free-throw. He made the second and Nuggets trailed by 2. Bryant was fouled and he made both crucial free-throws to make it a 2 possessions ballgame with less than 6 seconds left. Nuggets missed their last shot and Lakers won this one.

Philadelphia 76ers @ Los Angeles Lakers
Just like in their 1st meeting, Aaron McKie done a great job in guarding Bryant and scoring baskets to help the Sixers built a 10 point lead in the 1st period. With Bryant struggling, Lakers found a new guy stepping up for them. Grant had the most productive quarter since he was inserted in the starting line-up due to Mihm’s injury. He led the Lakers in scoring with is 8 points. In the next period, Bryant took over and scoring 11 points but the Sixers extended their lead to 14 at halftime.
Lakers then made some defensive adjustment after halftime break. With their defense in high gear, Lakers limited the Sixers to 10 points while scoring 27 points in this quarter. They now led by 3 points after the 3rd quarter. Lakers continued with their defense, this time limiting the Sixers to 15 points. They win this one and even their season series.

New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers
This game was a high scoring ballgame. Knicks starting backcourt were hot right from the start of the game. Crawford already scored 12 points while Marbury added 11 and Knicks scored 35 points in this quarter. Lakers scored 29 points with Bryant and Butler got 7 points. Next quarter was no difference and both teams played with no defense and full of offense. Knicks still have the lead at halftime.
Knicks extended their lead to 20 points in the 3rd period and was cruising along the game. But midway in this quarter, Lakers made a move and slowly crawled back to the game. Knicks saw their big lead gone and now lead just 1 point. Lakers momentum helped them to take over the Knicks and held a 3 point lead early in the 4th period. Knicks were able to recover from that collapse and the game became a see-saw battle. With less than 10 seconds left and Lakers leading 115-114, Knicks inbound the ball and passed it to Marbury. He made his move toward the basket and attempted a lay-up in front of Odom. The ball hit the rim and bounced off the rim. Lakers grabbed the rebound as time expires. Lakers win.

INJURY REPORT
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers
Timberwolves started the game on the right foot as they took an early 6 point lead, thanks to Sprewell, who scored Wolves first 7 points. Bryant then led a comeback and the game was close until the end of the quarter. Bryant continued his scoring while Odom made a great job in rebounding and defending Garnett, Lakers held a 7 point lead in the 2nd period.
The game started to slip from the Wolves as Lakers extended their lead to 16 points. Wolves called a timeout then tried to control the pace of the game. They slow the game down which made the Lakers impatient. This resulted to lots of turnover and hurried shots for the Lakers. Wolves made a comeback and the game became close throughout the remaining of the game. The game features several lead changes and deadlocks. Bryant fouled out with still 7 and half minutes left in the last period. And with 16.9 seconds left, Wolves called a timeout and drew a play. The ball was in Garnett’s hand as he melts the clock. He then drove to the basket, Lakers collapse on him which left Olowokandi inside. Kg passed the ball to Kandi and goes for the dunk. He was hack going for that jam, he missed the dunk and split his free-throws. After timeout, Lakers failed to convert on their shot and lost this game.

Los Angeles Lakers @ San Antonio Spurs
Both teams failed to score at lest 20 points. Even though the Spurs trailed by 4 points it the Spurs as it was a defensive game. Odom led the Lakers with his 8 points while Bowen, did a great job in guarding Bryant, and led the spurs with 7 points. Next quarter was no difference, with both teams only scored 17 points each. Again, Lakers were struck again by injury. Brian Cook got injured in this quarter. At halftime, Lakers held a 4 point lead.
In the 3rd period, game shifted from slow-paced, defensive game to a fast and offensive game. Ironically, the Spurs got the advantage in this type of game, cutting the deficit to a single point. In the last period, Spurs displayed one of they best defensive game as they held the Lakers to only 12 points. In result, the Spurs took this game and put themselves in great position to snatch the top position in their division. Lakers, on the other hand, went down from seed # 5 to seed #6.

INJURY REPORT
Los Angeles Lakers @ Memphis Grizzlies
After 2 straight setbacks, Lakers still struggling finding their offense in this game. They scored only 16 points and trailed by 8 points after 1 quarter. in the 2nd period, Lamar Odom became aggressive in going to the baskets and scored 14 points to help the Lakers cut the deficit to 5 points. The score was 51-46 in favor of the Grizzlies.
Lakers continued to make a comeback in the 2nd half. Another injury, this time in Brian Grant, put the Lakers in a bad position not only in this game but to their future games. Grant went down with 1:35 left in this quarter, Grizzlies had a 71-62 lead. An 11-2 run by Lakers to end the quarter and the game was tied at 73-all. But the Lakers didn’t sustain their momentum and the Griz, behind Wells and Posey, put them to the driver’s seat. They managed to hold to that lead and win this game. With that win Grizzlies bumped the Suns down to spot and No.9 and put them in the 8th spot. Lakers were on 6th spot but a lost by Rockets put them back to seed #5.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Phoenix Suns
Lakers were determined to snap their 3 game losing streaks, starting the game very aggressive. They quickly jumped to an early lead. Bryant was aggressive the entire quarter and scored 10 points to pace the Lakers. Suns most point came from second chance points as Lakers failed to control the board. Still Lakers led 25-18 after this quarter. In the next period, Odom took on the scoring load when Bryant was held scoreless in this quarter. Lakers survived the Suns run led by Stoudemire and Johnson. Amare scored 8 points down low while Johnson scored 14 mostly from downtown.
In the 3rd period, the game became a high scoring game were Lakers scored 30 points while the Suns scored 37 points to take a 1-point lead going to the last quarter. Johnson continued to torch the Lakers from outside. But in the final canto, Johnson only scored 7 points and failed to stop Bryant. Bryant caught fire in this quarter, scoring 22 points and single-handedly brought the Lakers to a win. With that win Lakers solidify their hold on 5th spot while the Suns still hold the 9th spot.

Bryant and the Lakers made a great effort not to be swept by the Rockets in their season series. Early in the game, Bryant was on fire not only on offense but also in defense. After 1 quarter Bryant already tallied 15 points and made a great job in guarding T-Mac and Wesley. They led by 7, 24-17 after the 1st period. Rockets then made a great run in the next quarter and tied the game at halftime.
In the 2nd half, the Rockets led by as many as 5 points. Yao was called for his 4th foul and need to sit the remaining of the quarter. Lakers took advantage of that and outscored the Rockets in that stretch and now led by 6 with 1 quarter left. Bryant then took over the game and put the game away, Lakers held their biggest lead at 15 points and protected it until the final buzzer. Lakers’ win put them 1 1/2 game ahead of Rockets.
