You dont need a detailed high resolution shot for patching. Just setting a picture on a bhed texture doesnt really make it a patch. The face should be brushed first in photoshop or paint shop pro, and textured using bits and pieces either the subject itself or someone with similar texturing (in ways of cheek-skin or moustaches or eyebrows). All this should be then applied on the brushed face, bringing out the photorealism and making the patch a patch, that is even from every angle, and neutral as a texture. You need puictures of the subject for only the reference itself, seeing the contours that you have to fit along with the headshape model. In graphics industry, straight from photo patching is not used. They can use digital face scanning, or the burshing method but this is the way patches are really made, and this is the way most patches for NBA Live 2005 have been made in EA. Its different than just simple photo pasting, but produces the best results overall.
