Well, you gotta catch the ball as it's coming down. You can't do it off the board (i think, but i've never done it off the board)
It's easiest to go to the corner (left or right) and stand right in the middle between the 3 point line and the paint, move your right analog stick to the left or right and wait for the ball to peak, then 2 foot gather and 2 foot gather trick with dunk modifier. (if u hold dunk modifier for the gather, the player will do a flip)
In the dunk contest though, don't do this dunk if you have already done a normal between the legs twice dunk, cos the judges and commentators think its the same dunk and you will get penalised. dunno why though :?

you can combo almost every dunk with a shot alley oop and you will get a 50.

I stand corrected.. it is possible to do between the legs twice off the backboard, but the timing is more difficult

little off topic but
would it be possible to put all the dunk combos on a webpage for easier reference? i know it would be time consuming but a nice table of the dunks (maybe printable) might be really helpful to many. ( or just the best dunks like MJ's, VC's, DJ's, etc.)

There are three dunks I can't do. They have failed ALWAYS :( . please try them and answer what I have to do to pull correctly these dunks:
L + 2 foot 180 gather - 360° - windmill (that's VC windmill)
L + 2 foot 180 gather - 360° - tomahawk (360° with two hands)
L + 2 foot 180 gather - 360° - pump (inverse 360° with one hand)

my favorite dunk is an off the shot clock sumersault 180 between the legs dunk

you start out at halfway between 3-point line and half court

press R analog stick up while holding down the modifiers for the toss

then press the modifiers and o while running to start the flipafter the flip press triangle and then x to do the dunk

for easier variatins you can try a regular between the legs ant the end or just a windmill trick

(they all are usually 50's)

If you still can't pull the dunks off, I think it has something to do with the direction of the left analog stick rotation.

I think for most of the 360 dunks with the L1 modifier like VC's 360 windmill, you need to rotate the left analog stick clockwise. For most (or all) of the 360 dunks without the modifier, you need to rotate it anti-clockwise.

Thats modify button has NEVER worked for me. im getting frustrated

Are you sure? Hold down the L1 button while the attempting a dunk. For modifiers on tosses, hold down L1 or R1 before tossing the ball. You can hold L1 and R1 together to throw the ball off the shot clock.

Then just hold the backdown button and/or turbo button. I tried it and it works.

i cant do those 360s or 720s

but i did a nice behind the backboard alley oop between the leg slam

i started out of bounds threw the ball behind my back let it bounce jumped grabbed it put it between my legs and slammed it.

not very spectacular on the paper but it looks awsome.

but seriously i cant do those 360s i tried and tried but it won´t work.

do u have to circle the left stick when hes still on the ground or while u jump?

besides: The PC versions dunk contest is also great just buy that logitech dual action pad.

I'm having trouble with the 360's (not to mention 540 & 720) aswell. It's only from time to time I manage to make a 360. And when I go to dunk-practice, I always get the message about that I should rotate the left-stick faster and, even though I do it as fast I damn can, I still can't get it to work. It's pretty much the only of the dunks that I can't do now since I reshuffled my button-assignment and It's starting to become my Shangri-La...
Practice makes perfect, but It hasn't helped me a single bit, so I'll just assume that no one can be perfect and just leave it alone (don't wanna mess with the laws of the universe ).

Are you spinning it in right direction cause for some dunks you need to spin it clockvise and for some counter-clockvise.

Please just edit your post instead of posting several posts after each other. (y)

It depends on how you do with the controller configuration. For PC it's a lot harder if you don't have a gamepad, especially with alley-oops since there's no analogue stick.

No, sorry. I am using a Gravis Wingman Rumble pad...
If you really want to do some cool dunks I would recommend borrowing or buying a gamepad, if not your dunks will be restricted to what the key-board can do, which is from what I know, rather limited.
Although if you just want a gamepad for NBA Live maybe buying is a little to much... Eventually the dunk-competition will get boring for you and then you have a gamepad you no longer use, so maybe borrowing one and see how it is would be the best move.

Can you actually perform ANY toss dunks using just he keyboard.Cause if you can, I'm an idiot for not having found out yet.Or maybe i am an idiot for playing NBA live and other sports and sim games without a controller  . Take your pick. But answer the question first!

My favourite dunk is the 720.. i do it with ease on the pc everytime.. with the ps2 controller and same buttons.. though i still cannot figure out the 540 2 hander.. any tips on the buttons??

dweaver99027.. you can perform toss dunks on the keyboard... all you have to do is locate your nba live 2005 folder in your documents.. then go to configs and open keyboard 1 with notepad or sumthing.. and type this in

bind K_Z RYAXISCHANGE (note that Z is the alley oop button ..change to wateva u want)
bind K_V RXAXISCHANGE (note that V is the other alley oop button ..change to wateva u want)

But your better off getting a controller for it is easy to do the 360 dunks and so..
I recommend a ps/ps2 adapter

Happy alleyooping :D
