Derek Fisher

Thu Jan 16, 2003 9:51 pm

Whenever I play against the Lakers, Derek Fisher kills me. I end up having to put a big, quick swingman on him and he still hits stupid 3's.

Whenever I play as the Lakers, Derek Fisher can't hit a 4 foot jump shot and bricks the 3's.

Has anyone else noticed this? How do you stop him?

You take him out. Keep intentionally fouling him and hell eventually get injured for several quarters or so or maybe even the whole game. Or have Rick Fox push him.

This also annoys me no end! And what's even more infuriating is that Fisher have two teammates who SHOULD be the primary scorers (Shaq and Kobe) and yet he keeps on hoisting them 3s. What I did is reduce his Primacy rating all the way down to 55 (I think it was 80-something or so) and this partially alleviates the craziness. Fisher will now look to pass to Kobe or Shaq, and will attempt 3s only if he's open, or shot clock is winding down.

Of course during the last few minutes of the 4th, the 3-ball insanity tends to get out of hand...

Primacy ratings... yes! I think the problem with miracle 3 pointers by the CPU team when it's down is impossible to change, but thanks for the tip on the primacy ratings. Maybe raising it a little for Kobe would get him shooting the miracle shots... that at least I could handle.

This is one of the big problems of NBA2003. You can play against some teams and there are one or two players who hit every 3-pointer. My< favourit the a game against the Wizard, Jerry Stackhouse 15-30(!!) 3-Pointer. After that, I would smash the controller. The 3-Points are very unrealistic.

I don't think you need to modify Kobe's Primacy rating -- he'll get more of his share of shots enough. :) And I do agree that I tend to stomach miracle shots better if done by REAL superstars. :D

others:
There are lots of other players that tend to shoot 3balls like layups. However, whenever I encounter those and check their 3pt ratings, they tend to be really high -- like 85 and up. What I really call miracle shots are those that are made but shouldn't have. Like a turn around J in front of 3 7-footers, two of which have VERY HIGH block rating (90+).

And worse, once the CPU gets off two in a row, you're in for a long night. I suggest you try to foul if you think the CPU will hoist a 3ball during a breakaway. Oddly enough, scoring runs cannot be started, nor sustained, by scoring in bunches at the freethrow line.
