Since I am going to be at work most of the day tomorrow and a couple of you guys are wanting it ASAP, I figured I would release it tonight although I am still working on fitting accessories and jerseys. I also might edit some of the textures. You will probably have to play around with the appearance_info.RDAT to get your accessories to stop clipping, depending on which accessories you plan to use. But this is no different than you would do for any regular 2K18 CF you are modding.

Otherwise, the eye movements should be normal and everything else is done. Right now, I am posting the unaltered, converted CF and my own modded CF in its current state. But for the modded CF, I will come back later and edit this post when the final version is done, and I will also upload the portrait that goes with it.

When I have converted most or all of the faces from 2K17 that are missing in 2K18, I'd be happy to convert some others. But until then I won't be a be able to get to any other requests. Hopefully you understand me prioritizing the missing faces.

Yes, it is. It is already released in the above attachment that says "Modded CF". I released it a little bit early so there may still be some jersey and accessory clipping. But since I won't be able to work on it today I went ahead and released it since you asked if it could be released ASAP.

I will come back to edit the post and re-upload my finalized modded version, along with its accompanying portrait.

I think the cf of Chris Mullin in 2k17 is much better than 2k18 and should also be converted. Thanks for the works guys!

What area(s) do you think should be thinner: chest, shoulders, abdomen?

The one thing I wouldn't want to thin out is his arms. Those are already pretty thin. But I could see it in some other areas.

If anyone else has input about this, also feel free to share.

I'm sorry, it's not your fault. All players of 2K18 are not in the right shape. That's the whole problem.

Thank you for your work. Please continue your research. :applaud:

When i assign the cyberface, he's invisible when i view Reggie Miller in the roster. Do you know what could be causing this? I downloaded the modded cyberface.

My bad I forgot to say this before the first release on this thread:

The CF ID of a player missing from 2K18 will cause the player to be invisible when you put it in the modded folder. All you have to do is change the ID# to either an empty slot or to the CF ID of a player you don’t mind overwriting, by renaming the png.iff and face.iff files in your modded folder. For example, when I was testing my modded CF I was using the slot 9013.

I use the original ID#’s only to keep track of which file each player I mod is.

Check out the CF ID list in the tools/tutorials section, it is extremely helpful. I’m going to edit the first post and add this for the future.

That is true but we are able to combat that by shrinkwrapping 2K17 models to a 2K18 model that is the most comparable. Can also do it manually in proportional editing mode while using the 2K18 model as a reference, if you want to be more precise. It's little stuff such as the 2K17 model's knees pointing more inward, arms being less bent, etc. in blender.

And we are able to do the same type of thing with the eyes to make them function properly. The majority of figuring out the conversion process was to figure out what we can do AFTER getting them to show up in 2K18, in order to adapt them to 2K18.

But feedback is really helpful and is encouraged - it's not going to hurt my feelings lol.

Finishing up my Modded Miller... I ended up changing the version of him I am doing. Going for his look around 1994-1995 (the span of a couple seasons that he had his 50-40-90 year and the famous 8 points in 9 seconds)

Quick question: Does anybody remember if Reggie Miller got these back/neck tattoos before or after retirement? I think it was after retirement but I could be wrong.

Here's my modded Reggie Miller CF completed from earlier, along with a new portrait that goes with this version.
Mid-90's version

-Made him skinnier, longer, thinned out arms and traps.
-Made the head smaller and less wide
-Updated textures to make him appear bald with just a tiny bit of stubble on the top of his head
-Adjusted the skin tone for the face and the rest of the body

Keep in mind that like the other releases, you may need to adjust for certain accessories or if you want to fit the jersey differently - in blender or in the appearance_info.RDAT file. Most of the accessories fit just fine but a couple might look a little funky. As for the jersey, I tend to go on the safer side with a looser fit to minimize any clipping.

2K17 --> 2K18 Cyberface Conversion Tutorial, Part 1
phpBB [video]

Tutorials aren't really my thing, but I wanted to put one out with all the requests that were coming in and didn't want to hog the discovery. I hope this is helpful.

As the video will mention, this is part 1 of 2 videos I will be doing as part of the walkthrough on CF Conversion into 2K18.
Part 1: Getting the player to show up in the game for the first time
Part 2: Making the adjustments needed to make the player game-ready and looking how they are supposed to

Postby trevorjpt33 on Thu Aug 23, 2018 3:31 am

Part 2 of the tutorial is in progress. I would have liked to have it out sooner - I will post it as soon as I'm done. I know it's getting late in the life cycle for 2K18, but hopefully what I discuss can also be applied to 2K19 or at least help you be better equipped for attempting to convert faces into 2K19.

I spent most of last year learning how to mod so I did not look into CF conversions until pretty late in the game's life cycle. But my plan is to start a thread for 2K19 CF conversions as soon as the game is released to try and figure conversions out and get a tutorial out much sooner. I am going to make that my sole focus starting out and hopefully some other modders will, too.
