They want the people who have established an audience, a social media brand, a personal brand. It helps the games sales and credentials every time one of the social media darlings posts a video. Those people really help drive sales.
I agree with one of the people who commented on his video that basically said "the sad part is the fact that you thought it wouldn't be rigged". I knew right when I heard about the league/selection process that some shady stuff would be happening. Anthony may have backtracked and apologized for that tweet, but the timeline in which things occurred certainly look rigged, again it's not surprising.
It's no different from the junk that we hear on the radio most of the time. You think these musicians are the most talented? Give me a break. Lil Xan, Post Malone, Lil Uzi, all those kids who are in the billboard top 100, you think those dudes are the best? Please.
It's who is willing to get the message out that the people behind the scenes want them to get out, it's who they believe will be the best to market towards the youth and young adults. It's the people that have the brand that they want (which is really, really sad).
The best 2K players probably didn't make the cut because they didn't have the same following.
