Realistic Season Mode Standings !!

Fri Jan 10, 2003 6:10 am

Don't know if someone mentioned it before ...

But i found a way to get realistic Team standings in season mode without editing the players (using DK's last Dec roster)

After simulating a full season in 9 of 10 times in west the top 4 are the lakers , san antonio , dallas and sacramento . Denver and memphis are very poor.
In East most of the times i got pacers , pistons , celtics , nets and hornets on top with cleveland at the bottom.

So i think season mode is alot more interesting .
If you want to know how let me know and i'll post it (doin it not now cuz i dont know if it is already known)

But its really worth it !!

Go ahead and post it. I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

Allright let's start it ....

First you'll need an DBF editor.

What to do:
Go to your save folder , go to teams.dbf scroll right until you're at the mark "HOMEADV" .
Thats the important category it affects the chances for the home team to win their match (only simulation).
So you must change the default settings for each team (default is from about -200 to 1800).

I'll post the records for each team , i simulated about 20 full seasons and got great results altough there are some realistic differents in each season mainly in the tight atlantic division.
Now insert that :

Atlanta -800
Boston 2000
Chicago -1800
Cleveland -4000
Dallas 3800
Denver -4000
Detroit 2800
Golden State -1000
Houston 1300
Indiana 3300
Clippers 1000
Lakers 4500
Memphis -1500
Miami -600
Milwaukee -400
Minnesota 300
New Jersey 3200
New Orleans 1200
New York -500
Orlando 300
Philly 200
Phoenix 200
Portland 2000
Sacramento 5000
San Antonio 4000
Seattle 400
Toronto -500
Utah 500
Washington 500

Note that you reload your roster and that i made this records with DK's last december rosters.
It should work for other rosters too , but maybe you must adjust the records a bit.
Now simulate a full season and see the affect in the standings !

Please respond and let me know what you think !!!!

Good one Dave. I'm a-try this with my custom roster because DK's isn't exactly a sim roster is it.

Great that it worked for you guys , before i found that solution i really could niot play season mode .
Always denver and memphis on top sucks alot.

Note that you can adjust the ratings for yourself if you think one team should be a bit better.

You should stay in the frame of about -4000 to 5000.

Good idea, is there such a stat for away games too? It might be good to involve that one too if so.

I think not but there something called ratingadjust but i dont know what this affects so i changed nothing.

Also i think it's okay how it is because if you tried it you'll see great results.
And for me its not important to have correct home win% or away win % .
I'm just happy now with this solution to get correct overall standings , thats more important in my opinion.

I could be wrong, but I believe Ratingsadjust basically determines how greatly the average overall rating of the team's players affects their overall ranking - or at least, something in that vein.

god job andrew, look, u replied after 40 days, lol. funny. but good point too. with those, some teams like the nuggets and clippers get good seeds and maves and magics get low position.
