List of Portraits Updated within SYNC.BIN

These are portraits (chr_rXXXX.iff files) that have been updated with SYNC.BIN

SYNC.BIN files will replace or be used over original game files as well as modded files.

In order to change these you need to edit SYNC.BIN. You need to find and replace every instance within SYNC.BIN. Also every NEW updated SYNC.BIN will need to be modded.

For some people it will not be worth the trouble to have correct updated or personalized portraits.

I will eventually update this with a how-to showing chr_r files as the example if needed.

A very useful program is editpad pro there is a free version. You can use any hex editor that can open and edit SYNC.BIN it is just that editpad pro seems to not have any problem with the size of the file and it's pretty easy to visually find what you are trying to do.

Using search chr_r1013 for LBJ's portrait you can see from the picture there is chr_r1013_a1.TXTR and also chr_r1013_a1.9b0d2d061d708a31.dds. If you find next you will see chr_r1013_a1.iff probably too. The point is there is more than one occasion where you will find this specific "chr_r1013" just use replace all to replace with an equal length of characters. I used "chr_x1013" in this example. chr_x1013 isn't real and will basically break the update and make it so that file specifically will stop overriding the portrait in the modded folder.

Yes! Embiid was one of the reasons I did this to begin with but the amount of players who have played on ~3 teams or so this year and now have incorrect portraits that are locked in because of this was really frustrating. They don't have to do it this way but if they do they could at least keep up with the times there is only a certain period of time and number of players, they could easily handle it.

That's not the same thing. They don't even have cyberfaces.

Pull up Cedi in cheat engine or limnono tool and you'll see cyberface = 1

That should really only be a problem if the file wasn't there to begin with.

Start with updated sync.bin and try it again. Make sure it is replacing and not inserting.

Make sure your new modded chr_r1013.iff in your modded file is working properly too

This earlier quote I found from you clearly indicates that this was not done exactly as the instructions say

Get a new sync.bin from steam and follow exactly as described. Only replace and not insert and the rest of the files that have been updated in sync.bin will work and only the lbj portrait files should now be broken and then the game will revert back to the original one. If anything you should see Lebron's portrait from last year. If it is blank it seems like your chr_r1013.iff is the problem. If you can verify that the old lebron portrait shows up now then place your modded chr_r1013.iff file into your modded folder and then you should see that now replace last years
