NLSC Discord?

Thu Feb 15, 2018 10:32 pm

Has the possibility of creating a NLSC or a NBA2K Modding discord ever been discussed... or even just a NBA2K PC discord? I mod a couple of other games and they all have discord servers which allow people to discuss modding a lot easier. Messaging people is completely seamless and discussion is done in a matter of seconds, there's also the voice chat option so maybe that's something people would be interested in. I don't even have a mic so I would probably never use it.

If it's a thing where having a discord server will decrease the traffic on the forum and create other problems than maybe it isn't the best idea.

I see it as something that would decrease traffic and participation in the Forum, which would be counterproductive to efforts to reverse that trend. I wouldn't want to rule it out completely, but at this time, I'd prefer to focus on the facilities and resources we already have.

A shame because I feel as if the old style of forum communication is really slow and slows progress in modding a lot, especially when private messaging someone looking for help or vica versa. But in the interest of keeping the NLSC around I won't complain.

I see the benefit, but also the aggravation. Feeling the pressure whenever you log on to respond to messages that hit you right in the face. I am assuming that's what this would do.

However, it would be a lot easier to communicate using a chat box.

For sure. I don't want to say never, and I have wondered about it, especially as I've seen other communities adopt it in addition to their current resources. However, it would be something else to maintain, and I wouldn't want to lose the traffic and activity here. It's an idea to keep in mind, at the very least.
