I like both Clarkson and Nance actually.

They needed to create more cap space, but I think they let go of a couple solid players. Randle is next, I'm sure.

If they renounce randle and stretch Deng they'll have like 77 million to spend on two guys. We better get PG and not have lost Clarkson and randle for nothing

Cleveland also just aquired George Hill and Rodney Hood, and sent away Crowder and Rose.

Wonder if the Hood/Clarkson aquisitions mean that Korver or Smith are next to go.

And just as I say that, Wade gets traded back to Miami for a heavily protected second round pick.

Not sure that was the thought process, but I will say that I didn't expect it to go quite like this.

I'm just waiting for the Lakers to buy IT out, and the Celtics sign him to complete the full circle of destruction the Celtics caused Cleveland with that trade.

Crowder, Shumpert, Wade, IT, Derrick Rose, Frye, all gone.

Knicks acquire Emmanuel Mudiay from Nuggets in three-way deal. Devin Harris to Denver and Doug McDermott to Dallas, per @wojespn

I think it was a matter of salvaging the situation and getting whatever they could for the ungrateful kyrie Irving

Damn, I'm going to miss Larry Nance Jr. a lot more than I'll miss Clarkson. I wish both guys really well, not too well, but well enough. Larry is such a tough cookie, all hustle and heart that guy. Glad Clarkson is going to specialize in his role in Cleveland, hope he drops some good numbers for them. Didn't dislike him as a player, just his contract was a bit of an overpay for a guy that's basically an off the bench scorer.

I've always felt that Clarkson was good enough to be a starter these last few years. Who says he isn't? Luke Walton? The same guy that started Nance over randle and kuzma and the same guy who started Ennis over anybody else on the team

Cavs roster seems a lot better on paper, then it was yesterday. Hood, Clarkson, Hill & Nance are all quality players, and replace vets that weren't productive. Of course the Cavs won't have much time to gel (none at all with Love), don't have a real head coach, and made it easier for the Lakers to sign LeBron. However, I'd say they did well, especially given that they kept that Nets pick!

It looked like Isaiah would be warranting a max contract after last season, but now he's in danger of Sprewelling himself out of the league entirely.

Kind of reminds me of what happened after Rondo was out of Boston. He started bouncing around the league, his stock fell hard, and so did his max dollar hopes.

to be fair i would not want to come off the bench either if i was him. its a contract year

also my earlier comment was mostly a response to all the posts novu made about how much the celtics gave away to get kyrie and how they would regret it big time

yes! anyone else watch the Cavs-Twolves game yesterday? very interesting hearing the booyah network

and Woj remains the king. Props to Shams this year in his reporting but it was the Woj-man that put on the big boy pants for the trade deadline

The Cavs being the big winners of the deadline seems to be the popular sentiment, but I'm not sure. They have replaced some inconsistent and unproductive veterans with a few younger players, but none of them are on the level of the second and third players LeBron has had in all his Finals appearances and championship seasons. It's a lot of new pieces that they're trying to fit together. I can't recall a team in their position making so many big moves at the deadline, which I guess underscores how much disarray they've been in as of late. They're good acquisitions, I'm just sceptical that it'll actually work out as well as some people are projecting it will.

Wade going back to Miami is a surprise, but it's cool to see.

The Lakers must be pretty confident that they'll be able to land a big name in free agency. I guess given their history and promising future, it's not unfounded, but hopefully Isiah Thomas isn't their Plan B. Injuries and disappointment over being traded have clearly taken their toll on him, and given him a bit of a bad attitude. He's certainly not playing his best basketball right now.

I wonder what's next for Derrick Rose, where he'll end up after the Jazz release him. Could this be it for him? It hasn't seemed like his heart is in the game this year.

Pretty good stuff from the Cavs - very clearly "we're trying to make it look like we care about this season but really preparing for this guy to leave" moves. The icing on top of the cake was to just send Wade packing for nothing to be completely "new-look". You gotta wonder why he even signed with them when he seemed disinterested from the start; it will be completely forgotten that he was ever on the team.

Wish J.R. was sent instead of Frye. They didn't give Frye much of a chance this season - he is money from beyond the arc and this team is sorely lacking in bigs; your rim protection is Kevin Love, TT, Zizic (if they ever play him) and the 6'9/8" Nance. I would've sent the Brooklyn pick for Jordan because whenever you have LeBron you should be in win-now mode; good luck using the Brooklyn pick on Anthony Bennet 2.0.

Getting George Hill is a great fit, but they were a little too obsessed with acquiring a middle of the road PG like him. Also, aren't Hood and J.R. essentially the same player? I know Hood isn't as one-dimensional as J.R. at this point in his career, but that's all the reason to keep Frye over JR. I'm not saying the Lakers would've wanted him, but maybe in another trade.

If they were willing to give up the Brooklyn pick, they probably could've used all these assets before Lou Will's extension to acquire him, DeAndre and Hill, which much more looks like a championship squad, but no - let's settle for this middle of the road team that could get eliminated in the ECF but still has hope for life beyond Bron (not sure if it's better financially to have a great season followed by a shitty one or two average ones in a row).

He pulls a B. Roy and plays his last games in a T'Wolves uniform.
