Shrinkwrap Tutorial - Will possibly work for 2K18 as well

Fri Oct 06, 2017 2:52 am

Hi all,

Importing and exporting may be slightly different, but the shrinkwrap process itself may still be relevant in NBA 2K18. Maybe we can add more muscle to the players, even using the body types from NBA 2K17. (other than the skinny ones, obviously).

Great! I know you had wanted a tutorial like this for awhile. I'm glad it's working well for you.

Balkman is no longer in the game, and no Duhon. At the moment, I can't figure out how to convert from 2K17 to 2K18, but I am trying. However, with the abilities that we have right now with faces, I am sure we could whip up a solid looking Balkman or Duhon.

Yeah we would have to create faces for them, assign them a png, and either overwrite someone in the game or create a player.

I hate the created player thing because of the nicknames. I don't know if you can make them a regular player via cheat engine, you might want to ask on that thread.

Is it normally for the jerseys to clip through if I add a shrinkwrap a big body to a small one? i.e Karl Malone and Zach Lavine.

And is the method for fixing trail and error or is there any other way? Like editing the scene file.

If you export for 2K18 the "hihead", and load the file the way The Goods shows on his tutorial (Changing the hihead file in notepad to be the correct format, and exporting your model into a different location) you won't get any errors.

And yes, if you just shrinkwrap and go right into the game, you may have some clipping. It's your job at that point to use the grab tool, or thumb tool, to move the spots in that are bleeding through the jersey (So say its his chest, move his chest slightly in). Its a trial and error process, you may have to go into the game multiple times.

So just to be sure, because I followed Goods way ( deleting all LOD except for the main on in notepad, exported to desktop whilst original file is in a folder called NBA modding ). Now I have clipping issues predominately in the back and chest areas and some on the pits area, I have to use the grab/thumb tool to move the spots in blender?

Thank you in advance for all the help.

Correct. That way, the clipping will stop. Once you have a body that works in the jersey, make sure you use that as a base moving forward, that way you will never have to make those adjustments again.
