I tried finding a tutorial thread on this myself, so I would love to know the answer to this too, I know you guys are experts and I feel stupid for asking the question, but the last time I played 2K, was 2K15 when you were able to simply drag and drop and overwrite files into the 2K folder and that was it...
now reading through a few threads here, there's an explorer tool you use ??

Here's a link to the External File Plugin:
viewtopic.php?f=236&t=104077

Place the contents in the NBA 2K18 directory which is here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\NBA 2K18

Then you're going to need to make a folder called "Modded" in your directory, this is where .iff files go.

Several 3d meshes appear, in the above photo I moved them so each one can be seen individually.

Anyone?

Do not delete anything. This year the hihead.scne file looks for all of the 3d .model files prior to loading.
on another note....

Hair such as 3d beards may be a shared resource for some players (something the ps4 and xbox1 community asked for was to use nba players hair and beards).
I have only had about 30 minutes to look at this stuff so far. This could be wrong but, Kyrie's beard is not present in his 3d model.

I would encourage everyone to make video tutorials when creating mods (not expecting many to do this), if we share our knowledge we may get more help.

If this means anything. I put my Modd 2k17 Iverson in 2k18 and everything came over except for his jersey. I don't have a screenshot but its like his jersey (Torso Im guessing) looks like that scene off of terminator. I was able to select him during freestyle play around and he had the same build as I had him in 2k17 but the jersey was all jacked up.

Ill play around with blender a Lil more. I tried switch some of the files but when I did that he disappeared.

So wait... with a slight tweak.. does that mean we could use the 2K17 faces/bodies in NBA 2K18?..

Anybody know if sleeved jerseys work in this game? It seems 2K eliminated all of them from this game but the hex that determines sleeved vs unsleeved should still be somewhere in the files.

Pretty sure it has something to do with the Explorer not being able to export files correctly. It's the same for jersey textures and uniform previews. It could also be that the texture is a shared lightmap, go into 0C to look at shared files/textures.

s014.iff for example......

look for lightmap files (the non zero size files) LightmapTextureMerged#32a233cc_1360.a35a9074dbbb1b54.dds

They supposed to be a lightmap so you should see stairs and other assets textures...

I think the textures are BC7 you need a newer plugin for photoshop to be able to open and view them https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-texture-works-plugin this one worked for me

look like what you are looking for? Image

Is that a solution to 3D editing a model in 2k18?

A chinese modder shared this

that is one way to do it, although you don't need to delete anything just to load files into blender.

So it works? Does this mean we can mod CF in 2k18?

I'm pretty sure you can mod in CFs in 2K18 even without that video.

Also it is possible to convert 2K17 cyberfaces to NBA 2K18. Its going to take a lot of work but I basicly threw a video together about the proof of concept. I began converting my 2K17 Wilt.

For stadium stuff the custom stanchion TBM thread still works but it is slightly different I think.
In baskets.SCNE
"stanchion_padding_c.tga": {
"Min": [ 0.0722718537, 0.0065120915, 0.0129830325, 1.0 ],
"Max": [ 0.082282722, 0.00699540973, 0.0144438464, 1.0 ],

I changed the min #s to 0 and max #s to 1 and it worked.

Same thing for the vinylseatbackcovers in items.SCNE.
"vinyl_seatback_cover.tga": {
"Min": [ 0.0, 0.0722718537, 0.23455061, 1.0 ],
"Max": [ 0.0, 0.391572505, 0.708375812, 1.0 ]

Idk what that does with that change but it worked

You can copy a hair style from any player to another. It's quite simple and just a play of copy and paste. The only problem (but it's not a real one) is that you have to go to blender to adjust it. I was able to put john wall beard onto Draymon Green :-)
