I want to find a way around that. I am not okay with the announcers calling players by ridiculous nicknames.

I'll explore all of my options. It sounds really stupid when they call the players by those nicknames.

If I did some investigating through cheat engine I could probably find the address that turns on/off nicknames being used. It would take a lot of comparing though, I don't even know if that would be possible.

Yea, that definitely seems possible.

phpBB [video]

Ugh at 0:42.... 5 fakes on the 07-08 Nuggets and 4 fakes on the 11-12 Thunder. Those are two recent teams.... what a bummer.

I'll have my work cut out for me this year again filling the classic teams. I was hoping for more licenses, especially on the 2000 and up new classic teams.

Me too. I thought the reason why they selected teams like the 05-06 Grizzlies for instance was because they got the whole team licensed, but it won't be the case I guess.

Here is the way I look at it:

We are golden if the faces are in the files (Most of them). Because atleast that won't create more work for all of us, because I don't want to have to ask the community to help me with cyberfaces for a bunch of players. The first thing I am doing when I get the game is going through all the faces. I am going to sit on my couch, have a coffee with a few turbo shots, and go through faces for like 12 hours. I'll also note the faces I find to create a better CF ID list (Ill add to me last years one). Noting the faces we can use is also really helpful, by that I mean the ones we can overwrite.

I don't remember, so sorry for my (stupid) question but why can we edit the roster file off the game ?

I know there's no editor but the file itself is crypted or/and linked to the .exe ?

The game checks if the content within the roster.rdat file matches the checksum, CRC32 or whatever they use to check these things. If they don't match, the game crashes to desktop. We knew what parts of the roster.rdat we had to change to have different accessory colors, jersey types, arena assignments and so forth. But we weren't able to find what bytes are responsible for telling the game if the roster file was alright to be used in-game. So yea, that's pretty much it.

Would you try to license Daequan Cook or Yakhouba Diawara?

For a moment I realized that this kind of guys filled up the rosters, the ones we see are the most relevant guys on the roster. However they failed to get Linas Kleiza who was a major part of late 2000s Nuggets but nowhere else. Or Anthony Carter, a veteran guard who lacked perimeter shooting who played for more than 10 seasons but never played in great classic teams.

What about Nazr Mohammed, who was a part of 2005 NBA Champions Spurs?

Man even I couldn't see the great Kendrick Perkins. MAN. He is the starting center of 2008 Celtics. Also starting center for 2012 Thunder. This shocked me most.

Well after you add Kleiza, Carter, Mohammed and Perkins the fakes are reduced to 3 and 2 respectively for '08 Nuggets and '12 Thunder. Just...

Yes, if I had the funds to do so. Reason being: Looking at a bunch of fakes on the bench ruins the authenticity of the game.

Like most people, I figured that there'd be fewer missing players on the more recent squads. However, the thought occurs that there are still a fair amount of players on those teams who aren't in the league anymore, so they're not automatically licensed. Furthermore, in some cases a player may not be officially retired yet, thus they wouldn't be members of the NBARPA. As such, they might be more difficult to license. Beyond that, there's always the possibility of players asking for too much money, or not wanting to participate for a variety of other reasons. Hopefully their assets will still be hidden away in the game files, and available to be put to use.

If they signed a deal with NBARPA, they would also get Charles Barkley. LOL

I'll deal, I'm still determined to get the job done. I am just hoping that the faces that we had last year in the files, will be in the files this year. That's the biggest thing.

I'm willing to scroll through the portrait IDs if possible. I think we'll have a harder time this time since the MyTeam portraits this year appear to differ from the standard portraits.

That would be amazing. A list of those would be really helpful, that is a lot of work though.

I live an hour outside of Boston, I bleed green. So the 07-08 season is special for me as well.

What will take the most time is ratings and tendencies, second to that would be cyberfaces.

Aight man, I'm still trying to learn how to make cyberfaces, but for the ratings, I think I can help with those :) Anything else that needs some graphic editing, I can do as well.

Once we get a tool for checking those portrait IDs, I'll start up doing that. How long did it take for the Limono modifier to come out last year?
