All-Time Teams predictions / wishes.

Talk about NBA 2K18 here.

All-Time Teams predictions / wishes.

Postby timmyd on Tue Aug 15, 2017 6:24 am

Hey guys,

NBA 2k18 isn't too far away, and I see a lot more negativity being thrown around in the modding pages. I figured, why don't we all jump in and throw in our own choices and wishes for an all-time team of our favorite franchises.

I'll start with my home-town team (not my favorite team, but I've watched these guys since they came into the league).

PG: Lowry, Staudmire, Calderon
SG: DeRozan, Moe Pete, Dell Curry
SF: Vince Carter, T-Mac, Doug Christie / or Terrence Ross
PF: Chris Bosh, Jerome Williams, Amir Johnson
C: Andrea Bargnani (lol), Antonio Davis, JV

Honourable mentions:

TJ Ford, Rasho Nestorovic, Anthony Parker, Kevin Willis, Charles Oakley, Alvin Williams.
Willing to help complete rosters for season/my league use.

Not surprisingly, I'll throw out my predictions for the...

Chicago Bulls

C: Joakim Noah
F: Dennis Rodman
F: Scottie Pippen
G: Michael Jordan
G: Derrick Rose

Bench:

Jimmy Butler
Horace Grant
B.J. Armstrong
Jerry Sloan
Bob Love
Chet Walker
Bill Cartwright
Luol Deng
Toni Kukoc
Steve Kerr

Philadelphia 76ers

Wish:

PG: Allen Iverson, Maurice Cheeks, Jrue Holiday
SG: Hal Greer, Andrew Toney, Hersey Hawkins
SF: Julius Erving, Andre Iguodala, Chet Walker
PF: Charles Barkley, Billy Cunningham, Dolph Schayes
C: Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone, Joel Embiid

The tricky part to predict this is which players they got the license. At least 7 of those players are not currently available to put on All-time teams

With current license:

PG: Allen Iverson, Maurice Cheeks, Jrue Holiday
SG: Hersey Hawkins, Aaron McKie, Lou Williams
SF: Julius Erving, Andre Iguodala, Robert Covington
PF: Bobby Jones, Thaddeus Young, Dario Saric
C: Wilt Chamberlain, Joel Embiid, Dikembe Mutombo

Heat:

PG: Tim Hardaway, Gary Payton, Goran Dragic
SG: Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen
SF: LeBron James, Keith Askins, Shane Battier
PF: Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem
C: Alonzo Mourning, Shaquille O'Neal, Hassan Whiteside

Pretty hard for to do for a 1987 expansion team...

Had to go not only with skill, but also meaning for the team (like Askins and Haslem).

That's why I left Gasol off my suggestion for the Bulls. On talent, you could definitely put him there, but he only played two seasons for them and one of those years, they missed the Playoffs.

I was hesitant with Ray Allen, but I was missing a solid SG and he did made the Game 6 3pt shot, which is one of the most memorable moments in Heat history...

Yeah, he had an impact. It also comes down to the available names.

I would also suggest Glen Rice and Steve Smith for the Heat, though.

Agreed with the above, not really being about skill but impact or tenure.

For the Raptors, Amir Johnson, Morris Peterson, JYD are like all-timers. In the sense, they are more beloved than any other Raptor and are still local celebrities.

Here is my attempt at guessing at the Houston Rockets.

PG: Calvin Murphy, Steve Francis, Kenny Smith
SG: James Harden, Clyde Drexler, Vernon Maxwell
SF: Tracy McGrady, Mario Elie
PF: Ralph Sampson, Rudy Tomjanovich, Robert Horry
C: Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Yao Ming

14 of 15 possible. More than a few are Championship year players, not that they are necessarily great players. I could easily add Sam Cassell or Otis Thorpe.

Time will tell if any of these will be replaced.

Other candidates: Shane Battier, Luis Scola, Aaron Brooks.

Edit: So I may need to turn in my Rockets fan credentials for omitting Elven Hayes. Pencil him into PF and 15 is in...

I think those are good picks for the Rockets. With the addition of Hayes you've included all the Hall of Famers who had significant tenures with the team, with the arguably exception of Barkley, and the likelihood of his inclusion in the game as a member of those teams doesn't seem that great at this juncture.
