Would a radeon 9200 be enough to run the game with good quality?

Hey man,

I got a radeon 9200, 128MB card. 2004 goes fine, but im going to upgrade coz trying to play something like Doom3 with it is terrible.

My machine specs are:
P4, 3 Ghz HT
1 gig ram
80 gig HD
Radeon 9200 128mb card.... (going to get a 2nd hand 9600 XT or 9800 pro)
Need to upgrade my power supply too for a new card.

PC. I don't own a console, but even if I did, PC is the way to go. Reasons:

- roster patches
- gfx patches
- better graphics
- better gamepad (the PS2 pad is too small IMHO, and I love the two additional trigger buttons of my Thrustmaster pad)
- I can change anything freely. Not sure about Live, but NBA Street 2 does not allow you to freely change your controller settings - something that sucks big time if you are used to a different setup than available

Yup, I have the Thrustmaster too, and the two additional triggers are located in the back of the controller where you can use your middle finger to rest on the triggers or push on it when needed.

Xbox and Ps2 is the same imo.

What makes my mind up is that XBOX has a hard drive to save almost as many franchises as you want and ps2 has the memory card.

I have a real fast Pc but i hate playing games on the cpu.

I like curling up in a blanket and playing it on my big screen tv.

Yeah Slick, that XBox hard drive is the truth! I don't miss the days of buying 4 and 5 memory cards to hold all my franchises from Live, Madden, Baseball, Hockey, Boxing and Soccer and Tony Hawk...... :( That really sucked!

PC... Are there any others?

Nothing even comes close... Those guys who say the consoles are as good as PC, well they need to wake up and take a look around. The second generation of consoles is past tense by now.

And the third generation of consoles can keep up with the PC for about 6 months... And then you can just forget about it. They just have old technology in them when they come out as brand new when compared to the PC.

PC, as that is the true gamers platform.

Posted: Tue Sep 07, 2004 1:28 pm Post subject: Console Vs. PC (Inspired By A Closed-Minded Dude)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi NLSC, after reading quite a few posts as well as "talking" to alot of members here it seems as if there are 2 types of NBA Live fans. Console and PC.

For PC guys, there's no other choice imaginable. Who wouldn't want the option of having better graphics and patches galore made by our resident experts who devote their time and efforts to make the game better?

The question is seemingly a no-brainer to a PC guy who can't fathom why any self-respecting "Liver" would choose the console version over that of the PC.

For console guys, they'll admit that he graphics are better and concede that patches do in fact increase the replay value but just don't like gaming on their PC. They prefer the "feel" of a console and the accoutrements that go with it.

Who's right? Who's wrong? No one is wrong, we're just different people with different tastes where gaming is concerned. Let's please stop putting each others likes and dislikes down and acting like our way is the only way and everyone else is either dumb or inferior.

As a console gamer myself, I respect the fact that a cat chooses to game on his PC and don't see this as any detriment to meaningful, constructive conversation between us where NBA Live is concerned.

We all have basically the same complaints and wishes for our beloved game despite the differences is hardware. Let's not be close-minded like certain individuals on this board who can't fathom anyone not agreeing with him. Whether we choose a PC, XBox, PS2 or Gamecube should not be the issue, the issue is that we're all members of the NLSC because we love playing Live, no matter how we go about doing that.

Now, here's to hoping that we learn some tolerance and respect for each other's differences! Peace, Dre.

PC all the way. The graphics are far better, you can always upgrade it to be faster/better, and it's a joy to play with the right controller. Plus, you can get all the roster updates and easily play online.

My newly-built gaming rig:
Athlon 64 3000+ o/c to 2.5 ghz (250 x 10)
Chaintech VNF3-250 motherboard
2x512mb Corsair Value Select PC3200 DDR @ 210mhz
BFG Geforce 6800OC w/128mb, w/2 cooling fans, o/c to 400/800
Maxtor 250gb EIDE, 8mb cache, 7200rpm
Memorex True8x DVD+/-RW & Mad Dog Multi DVD/CDRW 52x
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case, black w/side X-window & 6 cooling fans (3 w/blue LEDs)
Aspire 520w dual fan PSU
SB Audigy LS & Logitech Z640 5.1 speakers
Logitech Cordless MX Duo kb/mouse & Logitech Wingman Cordless

This machine runs Doom3 at 1280x1024, high detail with never a chug or pause (this res/detail level requires a fast, very well-equipped machine), so I'm certain it'll handle Live 2005 at max res and max details with no problem whatsoever.

I am very stoked about my next few months from a gaming perspective: Doom3, Far Cry, Sims 2, Half Life 2 & of course NBA Live 2005. The wife's gonna divorce me if I'm not careful.
Athlon 64 3500+ | MSI KN8 Neo4 Platinum mb | 2gb Corsair VS PC3200 | BFG Geforce 6800GT OC | WD 160gb SATA | Maxtor 250gb SATA | Seagate External 320gb | Plextor PX-740A 16x DVD+/-RW | Sony CRX-320E DVD/CDRW 52x | Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case | Aspire 520w dual fan PSU | Logitech Z640 5.1 speakers (72w) | Logitech Cordless MX kb | Logitech MX-518 mouse | Logitech Dual Action controller | Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick | Logitech Premium Stereo Headset

XBOX. Accept no substitutes. Every system has its dud games, but xbox has the highest tech stats for using live.

XBox. Just because I don't have a good enough PC, otherwise I'd play it on computer for sure. But I must admit I'm pretty happy with my XBox. Oh, and like Dre said, I can save mucho franchises with no worries :D .
