Wow. That's certainly unexpected. So much for the primary NBA 2K18 cover design, if that comes to pass.

For what it's worth, actor Michael Rapaport applauds Kyrie's decision.

Likely Kyrie found out that LeBron is leaving next year, straight from the source himself, so time to jump ship.
Good of LeBron to tell Kyrie a year in advance.
LeBron appreciates Kyrie more than that glorified sidekick Wade.

I don't understand how ring chasers are constantly derided for wanting to win one, players are put down for forming "super teams", but losers like this get applauded because they'd rather have personal accolades than a better chance at winning a championship. Remember when Westbrook was complaining that Durant, the best one on one scorer in the league, was getting the ball too much? Nobody remembers that after his triple double season and MVP year. No one seemed to mind that Lamarcus aldridge was a bitch and left portland out of jealousy of Lillard and managed to suck more than he did in Portland.

It depends on the situation, and how the individual players handle it.

Since it was one of the locations mentioned by ESPN after the Spurs, if he landed on the Clippers there'd be an amusing trivia note to it. He'd be returning to the team that originally held the #1 pick he was selected with.

They traded it to Cleveland to get rid of Baron Davis' contract. And it came up as the first pick in the lottery.

Good point. Good move for the Clippers too, if it comes to pass.

Kyrie already has a ring, also greatly contributed to the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history, nothing wrong with him going for personal accolades.

Time to move on from the notion that in order for players to be considered great they need to win consecutive or multiple championships, when in reality winning one is hard enough as it is, as shown by the 73-9 Warriors and Kevin Durant in the same season.

Actually a deal to the Clips to pick through some of the stuff the Rockets sent over would help Cleveland's depth problem. Especially somebody like Lou Williams would be a nice addition. Maybe they could convince them to take Shumpert off their hands too and take back more of that stuff like Patrick Beverley. Something similar could be done with the Heat, I assume taking Dragic and then grabbing some other stuff.

Making a deal with the Spurs will be hard just salary wise, not a lot of options outside of taking Danny Green plus a third team. Similar with the Knicks and Wolves really. The other two places Kyrie supposedly mentioned.

A Knicks deal for Melo works but you have to imagine they'd want to force them to take Shumpert which would require the Knicks to flip a reserve or two. Though they can do just Irving/Jefferson for Melo.

Fun part about a Spurs deal is that it almost has to include Danny Green...who the Cavs waived back when LeBron was with them the first time and he then went to the Spurs and hit threes all over Miami.

Story is Kyrie was promised Cavs were going to build Steve Nash Suns like team around him, then LeBron came home and have built for him instead.

He wants to be the star player of a team like that rather than play a role in LeBron's title ambitions and war against Golden State.

Plausible.

What better time and excuse is there to leave the shitty city like Cleveland? Kyrie practically gets to get out of the shit city in standing ovation. Furthermore it provides LBJ with better excuse to ditch the Cavs. And Dan Gilbert gets compensated with the draft pick again in following year while aging star takes an exit. Nice.

In reality, Kyrie's never been great, he's been good and seldom very-good. Though he's only 25, I doubt he'll ever be great. You need 2 to 3 greats to win it all, usually. Especially in this era, you perhaps need more since there's Warriors. Let's see what the Cavs replaces Kyrie with. He's not totally irreplaceable. More or less, the Cavs will be in good shape in East to compete for the top spot next year.

Really, you could make the case that LeBron needs a break year anyway.

Good for Kyrie deciding not to be LeBron's hostage. To leave your kingdom not once, but twice? That would be Princess James if anything.

Irving in Minnesota?

This is very bad for the Cavs. I mean, Kyrie is the only one in their roster who actually showed something, besides LeBron's perfection, in last year's finals agaist GSW. But, I think that if they sign D Rose, which some rumors say they will, they should trade Kyrie to get some good ''difference maker'' player on positions SG, PF or C.

Supposedly, The Kings are offering Fox for Irving.

If only the Bulls held on to Jimmy Butler for a little longer for better offers like Kyrie being available.

Bledsoe and Anthony in multiple team trade... Hm, I think it's not so bad. Bledsoe is great scorer and defender and Melo is Melo.

It's going to be pretty awkward in Cleveland if Irving does not get traded.
