2017 Draft

Postby Sauru on Sat Jun 17, 2017 11:13 pm

this is easily the most exciting draft for me right now with all the rumors about the celtics and what they will do with the first pick. i am even reading rumors of the lakers trading down which i personally just do not see happening. is it possible that this draft class was overhyped or maybe its a matter or the top 4-5 players all being very close? what trades if any do you think will happen? anything before the draft or will we have to wait until the night of? we have seen drafts in the past with endless rumors leading up to the draft only to have nothing happen at all. for some reason this does not feel like one of those years though, at least for the celtics. i am pretty sure the lakers are staying at 2

I just hope whoever the Lakers pick turns out to be a good player. Josh Jackson reports worry me he'll be a MKG type player so I'm least enthusiastic about him.

Fultz & Ball I don't think you can go wrong with. It would be funny to see Lavar lose his shit if Ball wasn't drafted to the Lakers...but the whole flashy passes and involving team-mates really sounds like a good fit to me. I just don't know what the defense in that back court would look like with Russell & Ball. What type of player do you guys think these guys become?

Fultz/Ball/Jackson/Fox? Any comparisons if you've watched/read/studied YouTube videos of them?

Fox has the makings of a Russell Westbrook. There I said it. Him completely outplaying ball in the big tourney was just nasty

Anyone else not entirely sold on Fultz? He is slightly above athletic. Has shown no interests in d. He has pretty bad handling if was to play PG while no physical freak for a SG. Is he generational star like he is advertised in ways this draft class is quite strong? Any opinion?

Don't think so, if he was "generational" would the Celtics be looking to draft down? We'll know in a few years.

Best case scenario I've seen so far for Ball is he'll be like Jason Kidd.

Rumors of Bulls trying to make it a threesome with the Celtics-Sixers, involves giving up Jimmy Buckets.

So much for GarPax not having any plans to trade Butler.

Rumors out there says Philly's gonna trade up the draft, #3 plus next year's unprotected Lakers pick for Boston's #1 to get Fultz.

I suppose they lessen, but he'd be leaving a lot of money on the table.

Doesn't look like it's going to happen, though. Seems the trade with the 76ers is all but a done deal.

Wasn't it because Ball only allowed a work out with the Lakers? This gives the Lakers much better leverage in how draft/trade shit plays out. Other teams like Celtics and 76ers would be drafting him with no work out evaluation neither the guarantee in his willingness to play for them.

it seems like the celtics dont even want him and have their eyes on 2 other players. however in the very unlikely event that the lakers pass on ball i am sure the phone will ring off the hook from teams trying to offer the celtics something for him. this trade has to make the ball family happy as now they 100% know lonzo will be in LA

Chances PG gets traded before the summer league? Maybe even before the draft?

well he drastically killed his value which is probably all part of the plan. any team willing to rent him for a year before he joins the lakers will want him for a full season including training camp so i would imagine the chances are pretty good. i dont see the lakers offering much though unless they fear the possibility he reups with a competitive team.

edit: so once the cavs trade for him we can maybe see the cavs as champs again. then next season the warriors will add anthony davis and come back to reclaim the title for the cavs. this can be a yearly thing. the losing team adds a major player to reclaim the championship

The only thing stopping it is when all 3 Ball brothers are on the Lakers so they can transform into Megazord.

Great trade by the Celts. Easy move with such a deep talent pool early on. Giving the 1st up for the 3rd and a future top 10 pic is a a no brainer.

Automatically became a fultz fan with this trade

I think this was a great trade for Philly. Fultz skillet is a better fit than whichever projected available player @3.

Wasnt a prokorov special for the celts but still a good return. I suppose c fans will continue to worship ainge haha

Wade should leave if Butler gets traded. He deserves better than being part of a rebuild

this will all depend on how it pans out. if fultz turns into a hall of fame player this can be the ultimate what if situation. however as of now i like the trade. i think we come out a head as i dont see the gap between 1-3 to be that big. really this is a trade where we wont know the winner right away.

this butler thing could be used to get the pacers to lower their price. clearly the cavs would like to some how keep the big 3 together while adding a 4th.

Looks like this Butler thing was/is that serious to make Cavs fire their GM David Griffin just recently.
