2017 Conference Finals: 1 GS vs. 2 SA

Postby Lamrock on Fri May 12, 2017 6:32 pm

Spurs annihilated the Rockets to earn the NBA's coveted bronze medal...

This series would have felt like a formality even if the Spurs hadn't lost Parker, and had Kawhi get banged up. Now they get to play a super team that's had almost a week of rest...

I'll say Warriors in 5. Hard not to call for a sweep, but I think Mike Brown blows one of the games in San Antonio.

Sadly, Warriors in 5, with a sweep not being out of the question.

Warriors in 6.... But I am pulling hard for the Spurs.

Didn't watch last night's game but they annihilated the rockets without Parker and kawhi. Sure, the rockets aren't the warriors but that must mean something right?

Plus the spurs have an advantage inside especially if aldridge plays like the star he thinks he is. And no bogut inside. His will be a good test to see if the gamble of giving up interior defense for more offense and a video game lineup paid off

The Spurs matched up well against the Warriors this season. But unless one of the Big 4 gets seriously injured... there's no doubt the Warriors are the clear favourite. However, I would not be surprised if the series isn't as close as I think it will be, we could even see a sweep. They've been on a roll lately but I guess we'll find out. I'll be rooting for the Spurs of course.

Spurs in 6.

A guy can hope. Kawhi vs Bron! I'm game.

The Durant join the Cavs to take the hardest road.

Spurs killing it with a 22 point lead in the 2nd at this moment. Cheering for them, I've always supported the underdogs

Warriors made the usual third quarter run, after Leonard went out with an ankle injury...with more than a little help from Zaza, who moved in and didn't give him space to land. Dirty play.

That no-call on the blatant carry by Durant...come on, now. There's letting them play, and then there's "Ah, the rules are really more of a suggestion, if anything".

God dammit. I left home with a huge smile on my face and a 20+ point lead for SA. Came back to a 2 point lead and Claw being injured.

Poor execution by GS in the last minute. Really left the door open. God I hope Leonard can play at least 90% next game.

For me the dirty play and some of the bad calls (and non-calls) tainted it a little, but that does go to show that I was invested, so can't entirely disagree there. I have a feeling Leonard's injury is going to be glossed over in favour of praising the Warriors' resilience, and to be fair, they made the shots and didn't give up. That play was a gamechanger, though.

The only 2 times they've played a healthy team where when the Pelicans took them 7 games a few years ago, and last year's finals.

Lady luck sure is with the Warriors.

I thought Evans was injured in 2015?

And it was a sweep also.

Thank you Zaza for ruining one of the only watchable series in these playoffs.

Now we just wait for the Warriors and the Cavs to sweep it to the finals...

Perhaps Joel Anthony can be the hero they need and deserve, as far as getting a little physical payback.

Meanwhile, Kawhi is downplaying the incident, Zaza called the accusations stupid, and Coach Pop...well, he called it totally unnatural.

Popovich criticized the defense of Pachulia, calling it "a totally unnatural closeout," per Wright.

"This is crap," the coach added, per Wright. "Who gives a damn about his intent? Ever heard of manslaughter?"

And then of course, the counterargument is that people are just biased haters out to criticise the Warriors for anything. What a hack. Because, you know, the Spurs didn't get called out on this stuff back in the day when Bruce Bowen was doing highly questionable things. I guess everyone back then was just a "hater", too.
