All-Favorites Teams

Postby [Q] on Wed May 03, 2017 6:19 am

So after the news of the Big3 league and thinking about who I was excited to see play, I thought about who my all time favorite players are.

Q's All-Favorites First Team
C- Yao
F- Webber
F- Grant Hill
G- Magic
G- Payton

Q's All-Favorites Second Team
C- Kareem
F- Odom
F- Dirk
G- CP3
G- B. Roy

Q's All-Favorites Third Team
C- Mourning
F- Marion
F- Rodman
G- E. Jones
G- Lin

So many guards I had to leave off. Made some tough choices.

LeBron would probably be on my second or third team these days. I was a fan when he first came into the league - at least, he was probably one of my favourite non-Bulls - but around 2009 when he really started to get arrogant, throw his teammates under the bus, and grab attention by declaring he'd enter the dunk contest, only to um and ah and ultimately withdraw, I soured on him. I was kind of happy to see him win the championship last year as I've come to really dislike the Warriors, but other than that, I do find him difficult to cheer for. Stephen Curry would be on my second or third team as well.

That's not to say they aren't great players or that I won't give them their due, but yeah. Just as a lot of people didn't like MJ, I don't care much for them.

From the get go I'm fond of Lebron. He might be a constant cockblock for the Bulls but he's so fun to watch. His last 2 Finals performances made up those years in Miami for me.

Ok then, I hate/d...

C - Andrew Bynum (for being a dumbfuck, talent-wasting, dumbfuck)
F - Carlos Boozer (for being a capspace waste)
F - Bruce Bowen (for being a cunt)
G - Ron Artest (for being a tryhard)
G - Klay Thompson (for being a pompous prick)

This is what puts Bynum on my list. He was so pissed that he was getting rocked by the Mavs, that he takes a cheap shot on somebody half his size in mid air, that could have hurt him real bad. His overall effort always bugged me as well, he acted like he was to good for everybody else.

Love that the Mavericks ended up winning the title that year.

Since Walker only Lebron and Green have been truly position-less. That's how you know he's a true Celtic legend. The greatest always have the most haters. Lookin atchu Lavar.

That's actually a fun one. Most versatile teams.

Although he doesn't make the first team on my Least Favourites, that cheap shot is the chief reason I've never cared for Bynum. There's physicality, and then there's just plain dirtiness; what he did falls under the latter. I'd also agree that he had a poor work ethic and attitude in general.

Re: All-Favorites Teams

Postby Dee4Three on Wed May 10, 2017 11:03 pm

I updated my list slightly, changes in bold.

James Harden is everything wrong with the NBA today, him and Lebron. Most every offensive possession just looking for fouls, driving and throwing their head back like they just got rear ended in a car, locking arms with the defender (not even in a shooting motion) and chucking the ball towards the hoop to sell fouls, getting blocked cleanly or contested clean and flailing arms out in the air, getting a screen set on them and having hardly any contact at all and dropping to the floor like they got hit by a truck. It hurts me to watch Lebron and Harden, Chris Paul is another one like that, and Wade isn't far behind them. That is not basketball, that is garbage.

You can literally watch Harden for a full game, and see him try to sell fouls a solid 50-60 times, its insane. And the problem is (Like game 4 in the Thunder series), he gets bailed out and gets away with it, which just encourages him to do it more. That is not fun for fans to watch, at all. I went back and watched some 90's and early 2000's games (Full games), to see how much of that I saw. And I saw 0 of it (With the exception of Reggie Miller, but even he wasn't doing that EVERY possession, he would do it on an occasional three). But even Miller wouldn't drive and throw his head back constantly to get fouls, or lock his arm up into the defenders arm and force a non shooting motion shot to sell a foul.

It's just so frustrating to watch certain teams in the NBA now. I actually enjoyed watching Joe Johnson during the playoffs, because everything he did was with a purpose outside of trying to SELL fouls. He was making basketball moves and basketball plays. LeBron James is another one who seems to be always looking for a foul, trying to sell them. Throwing his head back at the hint of any contact, and getting the calls, but it being OKAY that he uses his offarm ALL THE TIME (Stiff arm) to push off his defender and get to the rim or create space. It literally hurts to watch this stuff.

Rant over....

OMG YOU'RE JUST A HARDEN HATER!!! :x

In all seriousness, even as a Rockets fan, I can definitely second you on Harden. You can't deny his skill and ability to score the basketball in any way, shape or form, but I always wonder why not utilize those skills instead of flopping your way to the free throw line. It becomes increasingly frustrating to see the stagnant offensive possessions in which Harden just drains the shot clock and tries to bail himself out by looking for the type of fouls that you mentioned. You can definitely say that those types of plays cost the Rockets the game last night against the Spurs; there were two possessions in the last couple of minutes of regulation that Harden turned it over because he was looking for a cheap foul.

I know I probably shouldn't be saying this since I did put him on my All-Favorite Second Team, but nonetheless, this is a flaw that I really wish he would fix about his game. It will only happen if the officiating becomes more unforgiving to that type of play.

I feel like it takes away from how good he his. All those cheap tricks that he and Durant pull are fair game, but I'm thinking how many less free throws and points would they be getting without it

I agree with both of you. Harden is such a talent, he doesn't need to pull that crap. He can create his own shot without all those garbage plays.

It ruins games for me, seeing that... and seeing them get away with it, and the defense having to adjust to them doing that (Like the Spurs, having to play defense with both arms/hands at their sides and straight up whenever they are in his area). It looks ridiculous....it is ridiculous.

Also, I appreciate the honesty from a Rockets fan Axel. I am a Celtics fan, and I KNOW that the way Marcus Smart pulls that crap is complete rubbish. He makes me cringe.
