Well, the Detroit Pistons did just retire Rip Hamilton's jersey...

Stay tuned this weekend for the next releases!

Hey,

Welcome to the forums. These are great!

Just curious, are all these teams for use in ONE roster? If so, are you taking suggestions for more classic teams that should be in the roster?

They're custom team files, so they can actually be imported into any roster.

Thank you Dee4Three! Much appreciated. As Andrew said, these are custom TMM files available for importing to any roster. I went with a modular approach, so I can release each team while working on another one. I can also entertain requests for classic teams, which ones did you have in mind?

So how does the importing into the roster work?

And I think these teams would be good:

10-11 Mavericks
07-08 Nuggets
04-05 Suns
03-04 Pistons
70-71 Lakers
90-91 Lakers
70-71 Bucks
82-83 76ers
85-86 Hawks
96-97 Rockets
99-00 Pacers
92-93 Bulls
07-08 Celtcs
03-04 Wolves
95-96 Spurs
04-05 Spurs
64-65 Celtics
85-86 Celtics
08-09 Lakers
05-06 Nets
07-08 Rockets
94-95 Magic
00-01 Lakers
94-95 Rockets
76-77 76ers
89-90 Pistons
92-93 Knicks
90-91 Jazz
07-08 Celtics

I know that a few of these you have already done. I was just typing them out really fast. Also, I know how long it takes to put together a roster (Or even just one team) so I know that list is very unrealistic. But, I figured I would throw it out there. haha.

Also, are you doing the courts?

Great work!

All you need to do is load the file in-game, and it'll be added to the currently loaded roster. You'll obviously then need to save the roster if you want to keep the changes.

Hey there, NLSC! These latest uploads excite me the most as they include my all-time favorite team, which I'll explain in a bit. Let's take a trip back to the 2003-04 season, and take a look at the final four squads battling for the championship...

2003-04 Minnesota Timberwolves (http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9115)
This squad had the best record in the West (58-24) and was led by the reigning MVP at that time: "The Big Ticket" Kevin Garnett. It seemed as if the Timberwolves were legitimate title contenders as Garnett was teamed up with All-Star caliber players Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell. The closest they got to a championship was at the Western Conference Finals, where they lost the series 4-2 to another team in this list.

Image

Image

2003-04 Indiana Pacers (http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9116)
This team had the best record in the league with 61 wins and 21 losses. Led by their All-Star big man Jermaine O'Neal, the Pacers were not short of talent as they had the legendary 3-point shooter Reggie Miller and their defensive anchor Ron Artest. Unfortunately, their efforts weren't enough to win the Eastern Conference Finals as they also fell after 6 games.

Image

Image

2003-04 Los Angeles Lakers (http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9117)
This superteam vanquished the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals. Their starting line-up was loaded as they had 4 Hall of Fame caliber players in Shaq, Kobe, "The Mailman" Karl Malone and "The Glove" Gary Payton. The latter 2 were already past their prime, but still produced solid stats a season ago. Almost everybody who watched the NBA at that time, including me, thought they were definitely winning the championship. However, unfortunate events like injuries, off-court legal issues and a highly-publicized feud hampered this team from truly reaching their full potential. It even took a miracle for them to survive the playoffs with Derek Fisher making a long 2-point shot with 0.4 of a second left in the game. Sadly, there wouldn't be a miracle during the NBA Finals, as their firepower wasn't enough to beat the eventual champions.

Image

Image

2003-04 Detroit Pistons (http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9118)
My all-time favorite team, the '04 Pistons, were the underdogs as they entered the NBA Finals. Their starters include All-Star defensive beast Ben Wallace, trade deadline acquisition Rasheed Wallace, primary scorer Richard Hamilton, defensive "X-factor" Tayshaun Prince and floor general Chauncey Billups. None of them was a bonafide superstar, so it seemed on paper as if the Lakers were going to demolish them. This team did not seem fazed by the odds stacked against them, as they were encouraged by their Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown to play the game "the right way" and utilize their best weapon: their defense. With this, they were able to upset the Lakers with a 4-1 series win and clinched their 3rd franchise title.

When I first watched basketball in 2002, my favorite team was the Lakers because of how dominant their offense was. Watching the 2004 Finals crushed me as a Lakers fan, but also became a turning point for me as I began to appreciate the defensive aspect of the game and how teamwork truly reigns above all. Because of that, I became a Pistons fan which I still am to this day.

Image

I thought it was timely that I make this upload on the same week as Hamilton's jersey retirement. I hoped that basketball fans and gamers will remember the Pistons' road to the championship that year and also reminisce the best teams that were formed during the same era.

Thanks again. I'm currently working on some of the teams you've listed there. I focus mostly on 90s, 2000s and 2010s teams though, so I'll try to tap into pre-90s soon.

About the courts, I just use converted versions of 2K12-14 courts (usually those made by MythBuster, Pepis21 and retroman) for personal use as they look way better than what I can make. Also, I can't assign any floors to the classic teams as they use the generic floor reserved for created teams. I don't know how to work around that yet.

NEW CLASSIC TEAMS: 1999-2000 Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors

Postby JuicyShaqMeat on Sun Mar 19, 2017 4:55 am

Here are the latest classic teams I made, both taken from the 1999-2000 season.

INDIANA PACERS (http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9179)
Led by 3-point shooter Reggie Miller, the Pacers made it to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history after avenging their Eastern Finals loss against the New York Knicks from the previous year. They ultimately lost to the West champs Los Angeles Lakers in 6 games though. Among the veterans with Miller are Mark Jackson, Jalen Rose, Chris Mullin, Dale Davis, Rik Smits and Sam Perkins.

Image

TORONTO RAPTORS (http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9180)
I was thinking about releasing the 2001 roster instead as they fared better in the postseason, but then I believed it would be more fun to play with both Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady on the same team. This decision was also inspired by HAWK23's UBR mod for 2K12/2K14, which also features the 2000 team. I recall having tons of fun playing as them when I was still hooked with 2K14.

Making their playoff debut, this roster unfortunately got swept in the first round by the New York Knicks. However, the Raptors were loaded with talent as Carter and McGrady were teamed up with the likes of 5'3" Muggsy Bogues, low post enforcer Charles Oakley, center Antonio Davis, and the "Splash Father" Dell Curry.

Nicely done. Good call on 2000 over 2001; as you said, the Raptors did better in 2001, but the short term pairing and "What If" aspect of Vinsanity and T-Mac does have a bit more appeal.

NEW CLASSIC TEAMS: 1999-2000 Blazers and Lakers

Postby JuicyShaqMeat on Sat Mar 25, 2017 5:29 am

This is Part 2 of my 1999-2000 classic team series. Here, I added the two Western Conference finalists: the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now a core member of the Trail Blazers, Scottie Pippen set out to lead a team to a championship without Michael Jordan. Notable players alongside him were the versatile center Arvydas Sabonis, rising stars Rasheed Wallace and Jermaine O'Neal, veteran Steve Smith, and "Mighty Mouse" Damon Stoudamire.

On the other side, league MVP Shaquille O'Neal sought to return to the Finals after five years. His ridiculous domination in the paint paired with the athleticism of a young Kobe Bryant made it seem like the Lakers were unstoppable on offense. To make matters worse for opposing teams, the Lakers were mentored by the Pippen's former coach, Phil Jackson, known for the triangle offense that helped the Chicago Bulls win six championships.

The two squads clashed in the West finals and went the distance by playing all seven games. Home court advantage, however, would prevail in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers, sending them back to the NBA Finals after a nine-year absence. They would face the Indiana Pacers and win the championship in six games.

As of this writing, the Trail Blazers have yet to return to the Western Conference finals, a daunting task given the high level of competition in the west.

NEW CLASSIC TEAM: Universal Legends

Postby JuicyShaqMeat on Sat Apr 01, 2017 7:04 pm

Happy April Fools, NLSC! On this very special day, allow me to introduce one of the most exciting teams ever formed from the NBA's best. This is your... Universal Legends! Let us look at the starters.

Sun Yue

Yue was the second Chinese player to win an NBA championship, after Mengke Bateer with the 2003 Spurs. Drafted 40th overall in 2007 by the Los Angeles Lakers, he wouldn't officially join the squad until August 2008. However, he made his explosive debut on December 7, 2008 against the Milwaukee Bucks, where he tallied four points in five minutes of play, while also grabbing four fouls and two turnovers. He played in ten games and scored a total of six points in twenty-eight minutes before being assigned to the D-League affiliate Los Angeles D-Fenders. He would then travel with the Lakers during the playoffs despite not playing, and the team eventually won the championship.

Image

Ricky Davis
Tyree Ricardo Davis was drafted 21st overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 1998. He would be noteworthy though with his stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2001-2003), where he almost achieved the incredible on March 16, 2003 against the Utah Jazz. With Cleveland leading 120–95 and less than a minute remaining, Davis was one rebound short of his first career triple double, and he deliberately tossed an inbound pass off Cleveland's own rim and caught it in attempt to receive credit for a rebound. The officials did not count this "rebound" however, and due to this play Davis was nicknamed "Wrong Way Ricky."

Image

Adam Morrison
Drafted 3rd overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in 2006, Morrison was considered as one of the top college basketball players in 2005–06 during his three-year stint with the Gonzaga Bulldogs. This success didn't quite translate well in the professional league, despite scoring a career-high 30 points on December 30, 2006. Losing his starting spot midway through the season, he would average 11.8 points per game and 29.8 minutes per game at the end of the year. Treatment for a torn ACL caused him to miss the entire 2006-07 season, with the injury hampering his play the season after. He only played 44 games during the 2007-08 season, while only scoring 4.5 points per game. He would be traded later to the Los Angeles Lakers on February 7, 2009. A man of faith can say the trade proved to be a blessing for him, as he won two straight NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 despite having very little playing time.

Image

Kwame Brown
Brown was the first ever high school player drafted number one overall. It was reported that before this, Brown told then-Washington Wizards coach Doug Collins, "If you draft me, you'll never regret it." He averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Wizards during his rookie year. Despite this, the team believed in Brown's potential. In his sophomore year, Brown started in twenty games he played and the total minutes he played doubled. Brown improved his numbers, posting averages of 7.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. In his third season, Brown continued to improve, posting career highs in both points (10.9) and rebounds (7.4). He also demonstrated his great potential during a game against the Sacramento Kings, where he registered 30 points and 19 rebounds. After four years in the league, he was traded to the Lakers. On December 26, 2005, he played his first game at Washington as a Laker. The sold-out crowd loudly booed him upon entering the game and whenever he touched the ball. In the second quarter, Brown was looking the other way when teammate Sasha Vujacic threw a pass his way. The ball bounced off his head and landed out of bounds, which was met with loud cheers from the crowd. Brown called the reception "weak" and stated that "they should be cheering that I'm gone." The Wizards won the game 94–91.

He never achieved his full potential as a top pick and later became a journeyman playing for six more teams before being waived by his last team the Philadelphia 76ers on November 20, 2013.

Image

Brian Scalabrine
The "White Mamba" serves as the team captain and star player for the Legends. Drafted 34th overall in 2001 by the New Jersey Nets, making the Nets instant title contenders. It would be no coincidence that they went to the NBA Finals for two consecutive years since Scalabrine arrived. A year later, he would score a career-high 17 points against the Detroit Pistons during the 2004 Eastern Conference semifinals, allowing the Nets to emerge victorious after a triple-overtime thriller. The game drained the entire team however, which allowed the Pistons to win the series and become the eventual champions. He surpassed his career high the following season, posting 29 points on January 26, 2005 against the Golden State Warriors. Later that year, he recorded a career high in minutes (45) against the Toronto Raptors. This game resulted in a much-needed win to keep the Nets' playoff aspirations alive, proving once again Scalabrine's greatness.

Perhaps his most notable achievement in winning an NBA championship in 2008 with the Boston Celtics without playing a single postseason game. This is a true testament to his greatness. No wonder he is considered "The Man, The Myth, The Legend."

Image

Other esteemed members of this team include: Javaris "Pick One" Crittenton, Mark "Mad Dog" Madsen, DJ Mbenga, "The Human Victory Cigar" Darko Milicic, Gabe Pruitt, Michael Ruffin, and Hasheem Thabeet.

Here is the link for the team file: http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=9210
Now you can relive the glory days of these extraordinary individuals.

I'm actually sad this didn't continue. Was looking forward to some 80s teams, and a Russell and Chamberlain team.
