for all of you guys who claimed they didn't think espn was better last year, check these videos out and tell me what u think now. Not only did they make their graphics about 4 times better than last year(even though they don't have too, but always strive to be the best, unlike live in the graphics dept)
Please download those video and tell my live is gonna look better than epsn this year. hahhahahahhahaha, it's over once again. Oh well we can always use Live for the new dunk contest feature, that should eat up some hours playing :)

I did look at the videos. But all your posts you claim we are all biased towards Live but in reality, you're the more biased person towards ESPN. Go run off and go join your ESPN buddies on the other forums.

The graphics are very good, but the ugly shooting animations, awkward player models, sliding feet, and INCREDIBLY slow movement takes a lot of realism away. I can already criticize a lot of certain aspects of this game through one video. If it's still in the early stages and these issues will be addressed, then I apologize.

sho, I think the game looks great. It seems like they've fixed alot of the graphical glitches form last year and the men appear to move alot smoother too. I'm also impressed with the "tap the X button feature on tip offs". Does this mean they'll have jumpballs for possessions too? I wonder......

All in all I really liked what I saw except for two things.

1. The jumpshot animation still looks stiff and unnatural. This REALLY takes away from the game to me because quite obviously the ability to shoot the ball and how it looks is one of the most primary aspects of a basketball game. They sort of go up too quickly and the release looks awful, Live is soooo much better in this regard.

2. Those horrible, horrible, horrible dribble moves have to go. Compared to Live it's no contest, Freestyle control demolishes IsoMotion. The moves look very awkward and it still appears very "slidey" like last year's.....

All in all, it's 20 bucks so I'll be picking it up. But don't expect these PC guys to be as impressed as I am, I think we all agree that PC graphics are superior to that of the console.....

Well that's your opinion, but I always thought that NBA 2K1 and 2K2 for the Dreamcast were the two best basketball games ever made. I still play 2K2. Those were the glory days of Sega Sports.

Anyways, the videos look real nice. The dunks look better and the post game has come back. It looks like they've adapted a power dribble, along with defense to match up to it, as you could see in the clip with Fisher playing defense.

not talking to pc guys because this is not pc competition, sega doesn't make a game for PC, so they are not competing against them. But I appreciate you actually giving it up to sega for once. I wish sega put a dunk contest in their game, but they probably wont and if they did, i can't see it being anywhere close to live's dunk contest. That thing is incredible! It's the best idea for a dunk contest with the most control i could ever imagine! I can't wait for both games now.

Since ESPN 2K5 Is just so damn cheep. $16.95 at sams club.
NBA Live 2005 will only be 37.95 at sams club most likley.

So im buying both.

Buy Both.

GO PISTONS!

As i said Live will rule because of the all star weekend.

Everything else as of right now i think is equal.

its nice to see that espn wasted all thier time on graphics where live spent all there time on new features and improved dynatsy/gameplay. i think the only reason you even use this forum is to start fights. do you own stock in vc? do you work for them? maybe your father does? maybe you are just as obsessed with vc as deniro was with snipes in the fan. yeah thats you. you are just some crazed loser who failed at life and are trying to live through vc.

Actually, graphics weren't worked on so much. They're still outstanding, but if you actually watched the videos, then you'd notice that they did implement new animations into their gameplay.

And they have added to the franchise mode. Maybe you didn't read...

ESPN is really packin heat in the videos, but don't talk dirty saying it's better than live.

NBA Live 2004 played like a polished version of NBA 2k3 and NBA Live 2005 will be a polished version of 2004 with hot ass features. NBA 2k4 played like a carbon copy of Live Live 2003 and I wasn't feelin that.

As of now, ESPN NBA is the underdog.

The gameplay was it's biggest issue and I really dont care about that other ish.

As for the jumpshot animations, there are about 6-8 animations. The newest one I have seen is this one.

Everyone has handles like Iverson! Another reason why I wish VC would just copy Freestyle. I've seen Vince dribble the ball left and right as he slowly walks on his defender and drives. I don't want to do Isomotion just to get a good two or three steps ahead of my defender.

The beating your player off the dribble animation is hotness, but I didnt like how the player driving just returns to a normal running animation after the drive. You can really notice it in the video clips and it disturbs the flow of the HOT dribble animation. I doubt it's going to be fixed and It's not like it's a BIG issue or anything, but I wouldn't mind having it fixed.

Image

I didnt like that dunk at all. The animation just didnt look right at all. It's not like Vince is trying to dunk over a big dude like Shaq, but just leaning in for no reason at all. I'd like for that dunk to be removed.

I thought that animation was neat as well as the one where he extends his hand for the ball before the pass came. It eliminated that unrealistic passing feel that was on the previous games, and it would look alot more realistic when the ball gets poked away. The jumpshot animation has been changed to an overhead shot instead of that ball to the side animation.

Nice.

The video was ok, but it's noting to get a preorder off of.

I don't mind the IsoMotion moves. In fact, barely anyone even uses it. If you don't like it, don't use it, because in the NBA, players rarely even make a crossover.

The power dribble is hot. Hopefully, it's a button such as the R-trigger that takes you in and out of it.

I don't mind the fact that Vince Carter is doing that dunk. As long as no one else but him J-Rich and some other select few are doing it. It's still improved from last year, in that it's not as floaty as it was in 2K4(You have to see the video to notice).

The post game looked really nice. Finally the 2k series have revived the post game!

Isomotion is a pain in the ass and I don't like playing with my arm behind my back to make the game easier. Espcially when they make the damn feature 25-30% of the gameplay.

Wrong section, and more to the point, wrong website.

I think it's laughable that you're accusing us all of being so blindly and stupidly biased when you're clearly showing the same kind of bias yourself. I'm convinced that the only reason you're posting here is to trash NBA Live and its fans and promote ESPN. I'm sorry, but on an NBA Live fansite I don't feel that's constructive.

It is not your duty to convert us or "open (our) eyes". We certainly have our own complaints and wishes when it comes to the NBA Live series. NBA Live vs ESPN discussions are fine, but you're just intent on taking things too far.

Please, just give it a rest. And please, if you want to discuss and hype the ESPN series, use the Other Games section.
