It is annoying.

Congrats guys. Only took a few weeks before two team free agency started

it has been a bit harder to pick up players this season with the new system. because of that, I have decided to compromise and change it back to standard waiver system with 5 day waivers so it's pretty similar to the current system except that players will become free agents after 5 days on the waivers, giving teams plenty of time to try to pick them up. Otherwise they are up for grabs, helping those people desperate to pick up players to fill roster spots for the next week.

I just checked and it looks like everyone that hasn't been dropped recently are now free agents.

Since there's a new waiver system, is it not a bad idea if we restart everything so that we can get rid of all the abandoned teams? I mean, I remember we're just in week 3 and there are 3 or 4 abandoned teams already...

There's no need for that. The waiver system is only a small part of the game. We don't need to dump 4-5 weeks of games played simply because it's now easier to pick up guys like Garrett temple. It's not a game changer.

Ok just wondering perhaps those people who abandoned their teams were just disinterested by the earlier waiver system and we might get them back in the game if we did that. More people to transact with. No biggie carry on.

I may not know much about what I'm doing, but I feel like you guys are vastly overrating the waiver wire. Yeah the fact that you picked up players in the middle of the week and had to wait another 4 days to put him in the lineup was bad, but did anybody really abandon their team because of that? Pretty much all players on the wire are hot garbage and are in a constant drop and add circle, because they have an ok stat line every 5 games. These guys don't move the needle.

I dunno. A couple seasons back I managed to snag both Whiteside and Rudy Gobert from the waiver wire. They elevated my team to a berth in the finals where I lost by one category.

I also like making daily roster substitutions based upon matchups. You're right, many players on the WW don't have long term value. They also don't have short term value in our league, because their value has already dried up by the time Sunday rolls around. Or, come Monday, the player ahead of them in the rotation gets injured, and then its too late to pick them up. That means trade is the only way to improve your team realistically.

Those breakout players are outliers though. You were most likely not the only trying to pick them up, you just had the higher priority.
In the end it didn't matter if you picked Hassan up at a Wednesday or a Sunday. What I'm saying is that it's pointless to make a big deal about free agency. You still need the right luck to get the one or two break out players in a year.

It negates the value of a waiver system if we still have to use a waiver claim after the first run of pickups are processed. I have no clue what it's been changed to now lol

Worth taking on a flier on hot garbage. Unlikely but if he turns into a weekly starter, why not. I.e. John henson

Little surprised that people are debating the importance of the waiver system.

Anyways, looking to trade either MKG or Warren for a decent guard.

Only 10 games separate 8th and 16th only 1 game between 8th and 10th so there's still plenty of time to make a comeback and make the playoffs

Smooth Negotiator
