Been waiting for over 4 years for this. Hopefully it lasts longer than just the tour.

System of a Down Reunites for Summer Tour

After a hiatus of more than four years, System of a Down will reunite for 10 shows in eight countries in Europe this summer.

"We are playing these shows simply because we want to play together again as a band and for you, our amazing fans," the band wrote in a post on its website. "We also want to thank you for your loyalty and support, not only to System of a Down, but to all of our solo efforts as well."

The band released two thematically linked albums, Mezmerize and Hypnotize, in 2005, and its last gig took place in August of the following year. At the time, the bandmembers stressed that they were not breaking up but were taking an extended hiatus.

Since then, guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan united for the Scars on Broadway project; Dolmayan also formed a band called Indicator. Vocalist Serj Tankian has released two solo albums and a poetry collection and continues to operate his Serjical Strike label; and bassist Shavo Odadjian worked with Wu-Tang Clan's the RZA and performed with George Clinton, among other projects.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope they decide to record a new album! "Scars on Broadway" and "Serj Tankian" kind of sucked. They play much better together.

Would've liked to see some of their old stuff like "Soil" or "PLUCK". Can't believe they didn't play "Violent Pornography" either. Otherwise, a pretty solid set list.

Looks like they are working on something (Y)

http://www.billboard.com/articles/colum ... -next-year
It's been 11 years since System of a Down released a new album and, after splitting up in 2006 and reuniting in 2010, it seems the beloved rock band is finally preparing a new LP.

Drummer John Dolmayan told Kerrang (via Exclaim) that the band has been working in the studio for the past six months and has 15 tracks that are "album-worthy" so far.

"I want everyone on board and feeling good about it, that's what we're trying to accomplish right now," he said. "There's a tremendous amount of pressure on us, though, because it's been 11 years – at least 12 by the time it comes out."

"Our playing ability is better than it ever has been and we're trying new things," Dolmayan said. "We're not trying to make Toxicity Part II, just because it was by far our biggest album. This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we're not resting on our laurels. I'm not gonna put my name on an album I'm not 100 percent proud of."
