The invasion of the hackers has begun

Thu Oct 06, 2016 4:47 pm

Encountered my first 7'3" hacker Center in Mypark yesterday. Doing crossovers, speed boosting, chucking 3's, 99 speed. Shown as rated 57 in his bio card. Owned all the animations and insults and clothes. Meanwhile, I"m wearing ugly gray pants and my freebie Addidas shirt cause I am hurting for VC to upgrade my guy's stats. His Team of hackers barely beat my team of 70 somethings. Skill-less losers.

Thanks 2K. The one thing I really really wanted you to implement was an anti-cheating system. And you didn't. Don't you care that these people are bypassing your VC pay to upgrade system with Cheat Engine?

At this stage it's almost a selling point for the game.

"Buy our game on PC to have a free reign to hack and cheat your MyCareer!" I mean if they really cared they would ban people for more than just exploiting VC glitches and leaving MyTeam games early.

Unfortunately, no security measures are ever going to be foolproof. Trolls who get banned and come back here in the Forum are unfortunate proof of that. To that end, it's possible that there are some new measures in place, but they've already been broken.

I'd like to pass along feedback on the issue if we can get more information on the people who are hacking, and how they're accomplishing it. If we can find out how they're doing it, and potentially bypassing any security measures, then much like submitting reports about viruses and malware, it could help in the fight against it. I'll send along any information that we can gather.

The fact that they feel good about themselves with these antics bothers me. They should feel guilty. It's not fair to those who really put in the work.

The gameplay is great this year, but no matter how good the gameplay is, a single hacker who taunts and flaunts after cheating to produce a result can ruin any game.

Man, if you could get the 2k devs to do something, anything about it, we would all be deeeeply in your debt.

It's gotta have something to do with Cheat Engine. Their stats still show as their lame 57 ratings. Obviously a lot of them never bothered to even upgrade one category. It's a program that stays on in the background while 2k17 is running that somehow edits loaded memory addresses in ram and adjusts the stats. Seriously, when you're online, the stats we have should be stored on the 2k servers. That would fix EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE OF HACKING. Since we're online 24/7 and an internet connection in a necessity for this game, why not store mycareer stats entirely on 2k's servers? There'd be no way for them to edit it even temporarily. And even if they managed to, it's simple to figure out that a guy who's never attended a single practice should NOT be 99 with 30 badges.

That's interesting. If it's still showing some of their default ratings, maybe there is in fact a measure that's trying to reset them to what's on the server, but they're still finding a way around it, which may require some further measures. That's something worth investigating.

To that end...do those players definitely demonstrate speed and shooting abilities that are consistent with being 99 in those categories? That is, it's not just something they've been able to cosmetically change, but the game actually does recognise the hacked abilities?

Another thought: I have heard that some of the pirated versions of the game have been able to get online this year. Have you noticed whether or not any of those hacked players have legit usernames that can be found on Steam if you look them up? If those hacked players are using cracked games, then that would probably also be useful information to pass along (and perhaps a sign that any security measures are in fact working for legitimate Steam users).

The other thing of course is if any of us come across guides to getting around any possible security measures with NBA 2K17, it's info that we should pass along to the developers. Like the VC glitches that have been patched out, if they're aware of the process and the specific loophole, it's hopefully going to be easier to counteract. I have to imagine whatever information we can gather about that and pass along will be useful in that regard.

Exactly. We grind for every single slot upgraded. And every time we hit the virtual gym, it's a total chore. But the end result is a player in the high 90's who YOU created. These hackers are probably the same people who would lie, cheat, and steal in real life to get their way.

It's sad that the majority of them are skill-less. Without their hacked super men, they'd lose every single time. I suppose that's their justification for cheating. But maybe if they didn't rely on half court 3's to bail themselves out every time, they'd learn the nuances of the game and how to trick defenders.

Well before you start some wild accusations again I can only tell you to ask Veryan. The table he has published is the only one that is even remotely able to actually help you gain VC BUT that's only if you actually play games and, as he and others have tried, those stat changes do not carry over into ProAM or the Park since the system contantly updates your rating so it's impossible to freeze it if you do not want to crash your game. You can not buy upgrades for free like last year since they are now saved server side, you can up the Doin' the work meter but only if you go to practices and only then in small increments so it'll still take you 10-12 pracitces to get an upgrade bar. You can not buy clothes and what not for free either and neither can you buy animations as again you would have to actually buy them with VC you gained. You can't glitch VC anymore either as 2k have limited the amount of VC you can gain to around 4.000 every 10 minutes so you can't give yourself an outrageous contract or score 50.000 points a game. It just will not save it.

You can however get accessories and animations through the limnono tool, although I'm unsure whether they would carry over online and there are several trainers that allow you to unlock rep and clothes and what not. Since I haven't tried them, because my only gripe with the whole system is VC in general and I only play ProAM if I play any online mode, I couldn't comment on how well they work. I have no idea how they managed the ratings hack online as even Veryan can not get that to work and he has been the one doing all the work on the cheat engine table for the last 1,5 years. Are you sure you saw what you saw? I mean are you sure his speed rating was a 57? Because there is a chance that he had a 7'3 center and made him as light as possible which would give him a speed of around 62 or 63. Add to that the boost and he would have a 68 which is the rating a maxed out sharp shooting small forward has. If he is an athletic finisher he could even have a 75 or so with around a 75 3 point rating (around 70 plus a 5 point boost) if he grinded for some badges (or rather cheesed) he could easily have gotten limitless range, deep three deadeye, deadeye etc. plus a grand badge. That would theoretically he could easily have a 90 3 point rating while being ridiculously fast for a big man. If those guys all spend 50 bucks or more on VC they could have easily leveled their players to a 95 by now, bought all the boosts, grinded for the badges in the mean time and bought everything.

Now I do not know whether Park Rep (which you need for a lot of the animations) matched the stuff he had or those guys had. Even that could be easily gotten. If that guy bought VC and played 20 games he could easily be a 95 by day 3 before the game was even released properly so they could have easily beaten up all the 60 rated players in the Park for 5-10 days. Not saying they did. I'm simply saying that as of now there is no cheat engine table out that allows you to glitch VC, get accessories and clothes for free or carries over your changed ratings online. I know because I am checking for all of them regulary.

All the practices and vertical jumps in the world can't make you a 7' 3" Center with deadeye 3 pt shooting and 99 speed. AND HE SHOWED UP AS RATED 57 IN THE PLAYER INTROS. Play MyPark just a little. See if you don't spot the hackers. He was the only clear cut obvious one so far.
