I have to admit that I'm very leery about trailers like this. The gamers are pulling a lot of great cards, which is exciting and all, but history suggests that the pack odds won't be nearly as good for the rest of us. I'm not going to say it's false advertising, but it feels kind of deceptive, given the history of MyTEAM packs.

I guess this is what 2k is leaning towards since i believe the majoity of the customers tend to live these types of features. But like you said I kinda do feel like its kind of deceptive i think the reason being is that there hasnt been a really BIG jump from last year i what i believ

It's not so much the features, which were quite robust last year, and sound pretty good this year as well. However, I highly doubt that we'll be pulling great cards with the ease and frequency the gamers in the trailer did. They obviously didn't need to spend any VC, MT, or real money on those packs either, and we're not told how many packs they opened before receiving some of those better cards.

I'm sure people do luck out, and I once got a '93 Michael Jordan in NBA 2K14, but I was pretty underwhelmed with the pack odds in NBA 2K16.

I got MVP Julius Erving (97 ovr) last year, but yeah, lot's of openings were just some silver duplicates.

On the other hand to put it into perspective - they have 9 levels of cards now based on overall rating and the best cards they pulled were level 5 (amethyst) out of 9. And Amethyst Steph Curry and LeBron are rated "just" 85 in MyTeam.

In 2K16 Gold players were level 3 out of 5. Now it's 3 out of 9. In the video several players were Gold - which in 2K16 was a pretty good pull as they were generally well usable. Question is how usable will they be in 2K17.

But as far as pack odds go, according to the blog every historic player is Gold or above, so that should help a lot.

That's a good point. I'm just hoping we won't see the likes of Jarnell Stokes and Aaron Gordon frequently show up in packs which supposedly have high odds of getting a top player. I'd still like to see packs with more than one player as well, which is what LUT does, but it looks like they aren't going that route, unfortunately.

On the upside completing team collections is now going to have solid rewards (Amethyst for regular teams and Diamond for historic teams), so even getting lower level cards can eventually lead to some solid players.

Agreed, I like that idea much more than getting more superficial rewards like team basketballs.
