Talk about NBA 2K17 here.

EDIT:Yes, it was confirmed by 2K Sports themselves today:

This playlist was leaked on Ronnie2k's spotify account a couple hours ago from this post. I doubt he would call it "NBA 2K17 Soundtrack" if it was just a wishlist or some sort personal playlist.
Why do they keep putting in Santigold btw? That's three years now I believe.

When I saw the poster, I thought: "Oh yeah! Radioactive (which was already included in NBA 2K14) and Demons in 2K17!". Personally, not fan of this soundtrack at all.

So this is curated by 40... That explains the OVO/ drake stuff. I wish they would just do up and coming/ new/ indie artists and music.

NBA Live has been going for underground/up-and-coming artists since their return, and that receives backlash because there's not enough mainstream songs. I don't think VC or EA can win here, because they're never going to please everyone.
At the end of the day, it's just the soundtrack. If you like it, enjoy it. If you don't like it, mute all the songs and put your own music on. That's not to say you can't have an opinion on the soundtrack or anything, but I do think there are some gamers who make too big a deal out of it, to the point where they're talking about it impacting their decision to buy the game.

It was shit at first but y'all should try Tigertown's Lonely Cities.

Interesting thing to note is the order in which the songs were added to the playlist.

Creator by Santigold again? This is literally the 3rd time this song has been in an NBA 2K game. What the fuck is up with that?

Just so you know don't worry. The really doesn't matter unless it is atmospheric reasons. And if you are on PC then music can be edited.

EA was often going with more "underground" music in their soundtracks - that's not limited to one game of course.
I think something like Spotify integration would be nice feature - select a playlist and have the music playing in arena etc (I know I can just run it in the background, but I'd like to have the music fully integrated).

It'd be handy, no doubt. I'm never that bothered by the soundtrack, it all fades into the background eventually, but that kind of integration, or the ability to play music files stored on your PC or console, would be nice all the same.

Another thing comes to mind - "team" songs. Miami crowd still chants Seven Nation Army from time to time, it'd be nice if it was in the game. Other teams probably have such songs as well.
It could also be pretty cheap to make - just take Leftos and JaoSming, let them make 20 different humming versions of the chant, put them together, multiply by 1000 with very slight timing adjustments and profit! (just kidding of course... that would be overLeftos'd)

Yeah, I've wanted team songs for the LONGEST time.
This is the closest we got to it, and it's so awesome.

Honestly, I could care less about the music they put in the game at this point (Because I have a PC). Each year I just put my own music in the game. However, real introduction music for teams would be amazing... that I have not figured out on PC (not sure its even possible). For console gamers though, it kinda sucks (soundtrack wise) because they cant put in music of their own.
I feel like they probably consider the authentic team music very low priority.

Console players can run music in the background same as PC (although PC can be arguably more comfortable for controlling media apps).

True true.

BTW finally got around to go through the playlist and listen to the music... left me underwhelmed to be honest.
Given I play with commentary on most of the time, it doesn't bother me too much though. I'll just run Spotify with my playlist in the background.
BTW what's going on with the Santigold song? I donẗ really like it, but it's there for the 3rd time in a row... Once I could get, but thrice?
PS just an idea... They could put songs from previous games there - as in all of them, categorized by year. There were some from 2K11 in 2K16 and it was cool.
