File Structure - Filenames of Team Files & More

Remember to experiment but keep backups! Ask questions but look for answers in this subforum and past 2K tutorial forums as well!


General Files - These are files that control different aspects of the game. Check the other threads in this subforum for their detailed contents & purposes.

global - Everything from player models, accessory textures, ambient animations, some menu audio, menu art, in-game lighting, and much more.
english (or other language) - Holds all the text seen within the game, as well as some menu elements.
gamedata & gamedataextra - Contains assets used in-game, ranging from the replay indicator and cheerleader models, to referee textures and ability icons.
newscorebug - The scoreboard shown on screen, coupled with the other "overlay" files.
jukeboxmusic - Game's Soundtrack.
cloth (with _param) - Models used for uniform shapes. Sleeved_v/wishbone are the sleeve uniform models.
titlepage - LeBron on the intro screen. Other files are used for that screen as well.
nbaball - The ball. ababall is the ball used after inputting a cheat, euroball for euroleague teams, and blackball/worldball are unused varients from 2K13.

Feel free to ask for other files' information, but the filenames are mostly self-explanatory. See below for team specific files.

Team IDs - These 3 digit IDs show up in all of the default files in NBA 2K14, simply labelling which file is assigned to which team.

Team Files - Substitute ### with the IDs above. In MOST cases the IDs above will be the same in each team's files, but some retro teams use different IDs and Euro & Created teams share arenas. Unless I end up listing these changes, you can check for the exact files using RED MC and opening an official 2K roster.

    Stadiums & Floors (these are separated into 2 different files)
    s### - Stadium File (contains arena and crowd positioning data)
    f### - Floor File (contains logos, textures, and line positions for the court)

    Euro Teams
    s070 & f### - All Share a Stadium but Have Unique Floor Files

    Extra Stadium Files
    s729 & f729 - Practice Gym (automatically recolors for each team)
    s730 & f730 - Under Armour Gym (Training/Tutorial Mode)
    s735 & f735 - Unused Summer Circuit Gym (Similar to the UNLV gym the real NBA Summer League uses)
    s614 - Blacktop Court on Roof (does not use floor file)
    s604 - Hidden Rucker Park Day (does not use floor file)
    s611 - Hidden Rucker Park Night (does not use floor file)

    Created Teams
    s800 & f800 - Generic Create a Team Files (automatically recolors based on color choices by user in-game or home jersey colors if edited in RED MC)


    Crowd, Mop Boy, Mascots
    team_### - This ID should be the accurate for all IDs listed above.


    Logos
    logo### - Logo used during Team Select & In-Game
    logo###_wm - Unused wordmark logos from 2K13
    logos_size - Files that contain different sized logos for in-game menus.


    Team Specific Advertisements
    dorna### - iff/cdf pairs, open the iff file in your editor

Anything known about sleeved jerseys? I downloaded sleeve Nuggets jersey but once loaded they turn up as regular jersey. Not the sleeve version.

I think you have to edit some number in Red MC, in jersey tab.

Hi do you know what files affect the headlines picture in my career or association mode? i got this problem when i extract the mod of devilish nba2k14 to nba2k16. the headlines picture kept on loading and does not show up. tnx!

Hi I just want to ask something, hope you could answer it asap, I'm having problems putting the latest jersey of the hornets on my nba2k14 main folder, I mean I was able to paste it there but the jersey happens to go to the "Classic Home" and "Classic Away" uniforms instead of going to "Home" and "Away" Jerseys, is there anyway you can help me? that's the only problem I'm having. :( and I tried replacing everything. I am using meds roster by the way.

There is a option in REDMC to edit 'name' of the jersey.

Hi JaoSming and everyone, May i ask you for a help here.... :bowdown: i would like to ask, how to show players names on jersey? cox somehow the player name disappear on the jersey after i installed a mod....many thanks for ur help....im appreciate it.......

Hi TonyHill. Mine is just a try.

But some retro team don't have uniform names by default.
Same for uniforms lenght and tightness.
If you have edited logos/jerseys/names of old teams (CHI 91. CHA 93, LAL 72 ect...)
they will still keep the old values: uniform lenght, logo position, number position, ect...

So you should check with RED Editor for example the roster file
Go in the Team tab and see if you got the option to able/enable jersey's numbers.
I usually open another vanilla roster file (the default roster) and analyze differencies.

I'm just a beginner in modding so give it a try I am not sure.
For sure.Back up your file.
Mistakes are always closer. :lol:

Can I ask something? btw when u play the game the crowd automatically changes the crowd into same shirt color mod. I just want to know that Iff file that change their crowd shirt on playoff but wont affect on normal games
