From memory, you had to use BLOTCH to import the updated .fsh files.

Blotch 2000

There's a readme that lists of all the commands.

It needs to be in the NBA Live folder, yes. I assume it can run in Windows 8.1, since it still supports the command shell.

Blotch is a command line program, so you'll either need to run it from the command line, or create a batch file with the appropriate commands.

It's been a long time since I've done anything with it, so I don't remember all the commands off the top of my head. What I recommend is checking out some of the NBA Live 2000 updates that we have in the database, specifically the ones that use Blotch (faces, jerseys), and take a look at the readme files, as well as any batch files that are included.

Checking other patches in the download section is the right approach. To my latest patches, I've added the tools necessary to install them.

However, "Blotch" is needed for cyberfaces only. Mainly, it modifies databases like players.dbf.
In order to install jerseys, courts and other artwork files, the tools gfxpak.exe (jerseys, courts) and eapatch.exe (other artwork like logos) are necessary. It's recommended to have those tools in the "Live" folder permanently.

The issue I'm facing is that every time I run Blotch, a 64-bit error pops up. Apparently Blotch can run only on x86 systems. :( What do I do now?

You can also use the EA Graphics Editor to import new files directly into the .viv archives. Failing that, the only other thing I could suggest would be to set up a Virtual Machine with an earlier, 32 bit version of Windows, so that you can use Blotch. Either play the older NBA Live games through the Virtual Machine as well, or copy the files across, install the updates, and then copy them back.

Worth a shot, thanks! Could you perhaps point me towards a tutorial on how to use EA Graphics Editor?

EAGE has an in-built help file that explains all the functions. Importing is pretty easy though. Open the .viv file you need to import to, click the Import button, select the .fsh file.
