MozTheBoz, your team need shooters bro, not big players. Gibson, Lopez, Mirotic is enough for current bball. All starters cant shoot 3s.

There's definitely a cause for concern. Spacing is considered ultra important in this era. Perhaps Niko to the rescue?

But they're still probably good enough to compete for 5-8th seed in East. I don't think the Bulls fans expectations are much higher than that with current squad.

Robin Lopez is Ok big man. Should provide 25 good mpg. Most of left over minutes will go to Portis and Niko for small ball. Fill gap big man as PhatGeezer mentioned would be a boost nonetheless. Denzel Valentine is allegedly a good shooter. And he's older for a rookie at age of 23ish. Perhaps he can be given a significant role right off the bat as a 6th man. I think that sets up for a nice 8 man rotation, for now.

1) Rondo
2) Wade
3) Butler
4) Niko
5) Lopez
Portis, Gibson, Valentine

With the trade rumor on Gibson, there might come a change tho.

Delete your comment before GarPax sees it... I reckon Niko, Doug, Valentine, and from time to time Snell can fill that hole besides, Portis and Felicio are capable stretch 4s.

I reckon if there's any truth to that rumor back then where the Raptors are willing to let go of Terrence Ross for Taj, GarPax should re-consider it. The Raptors just lost Biyombo.

S5 man, teams ar using S5 in 80% of time. Wade, Bulter, Rondo cant shoot 3s

Googled it, he wore 42 back in highschool so probably that's the most likely to be Doug's new number

Novu in the Bulls thread/cheering for the same team? Anything is possible

I hope it's Niko starting at pf for the spacing. Will be a hard sell for Taj to go back to a bench role though. It makes sense for Taj to anchor the defense for the 2nd unit anyway with offense only Valentine and Dougie buckets

Wonder what Hoiberg is thinking? So much for pace and space. I wonder if Rondo and Wade knew who he was before they signed

I can't wait for the garpax press conference. "We are still going young and athletic."

I suppose they have to put an optimistic spin on things, but...yeah, choose your words carefully, GarPax. No one wants to roll their eyes so hard they snap the optic nerve.

As much as I want our marriage to be eternal, probably it will be short lived as Wade continues to age. But likewise, I am happy to have chit chat partners now whereas I was all alone in Heat thread(rip). Enjoy your novu, I cant promise u tho I wont vandalize.

That dude has been a villain to me since 2010. As far as I'm concerned we're getting the prom queen 6 years too late. I'll keep an open mind though lol

I understand maintenance days but as long as there's no last minute rest days or attending kids graduation talk, I'll be fair with your guy

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Jul 09, 2016 11:45 am

For what it's worth: Raptors coach thinks Dwyane Wade has 2-3 high-level years left

Right now, I'd say I have an open mind, and low expectations.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Mon Jul 11, 2016 12:00 am

Yeah why not at least one good year? He can still coast/have his maintenance games. I'm more concerned with how their "big" 3 fit

Good ol dimwiddtie was resigned

Clutch performance by Valentine to clinch the Summer League title, after an undefeated run. Only the Summer League, sure, but nice to see regardless. The young guys still have to prove themselves in games that count, but I do like the potential. I still don't have high expectations, but this could certainly be a fun season anyway.

Probably the only thing of "significance" we'll win this year but it was nice to see nonetheless. As one of my mates said, even a SL title is more than what 28 other teams will get in any given season (Y)

I like it, I'm all for finding those silver linings.

Despite some clutch shots, I'm not impressed by Valentine... It seems he's having difficulties making his own shots and he had some terrible shot selections all throughout the tournament (hence the terrible FG percentage). On other hand, Portis has been the consistent guy in their run who by the way should've won the Finals MVP over Grant. It seems he adjusted his shooting form/shot release a bit and was hitting his shots more precisely. He should be ascended to the starting line-up if Niko stinks in his perimeter shooting again. Speaking of Grant, he's hitting his outside shots, aggressive and going strong to the rim most of the time, defending well, I reckon he'll be alright. There are some reports that they're chasing Kevin Martin, again... He obviously will come off the bench and that would be good for him since he's injury prone and the Bulls need another sparkplug for their 2nd stringers with Brooks gone and the uncertainty of McBucket's consistency...

How about them summer league champs. Who cares if they are the only team with all the starters expected to be in the playing rotation during the regular season haha

Only caught the highlights so just going to remain positive ;)

Bulls should just trade Taj to open up minutes for Felicio and crazy eyes portis

Only makes sense they add Kevin Martin since garpax is on a roll of acquiring players several years too late

Thanks to the coach for pointing out Rondo's empty stats

This could get ugly or maybe Hoiberg's offensive genius will shine

Should be taking bets who gets in a fight first.

so... anything to start disagreeing on/be argumentative with??

its the start of camp and the players are all hugs and kisses.

it is nice for a change having a fresh start not having to worrying about their starting point being fully healthy or not.

a few podcasts, epsn & dunc'd, pretty much were clowning on the bulls offseason moves

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Oct 01, 2016 9:57 am

One concern I have is in the paint.

I suspect our rebounding and physicality will be up to challenge. One thing that lacks is a big man with good frame and tenacity to muscle.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Oct 01, 2016 2:09 pm

That's what Felicio is for haha

Defense overall is my concern. Only Lopez and Jimmy Buckets are interested in doing it

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Oct 01, 2016 7:57 pm

That too. I am bit worried Butler will be asked to be the best player on both ends and gas out eventually. Rondo and Wade are lazy fucks on defense unfortunately.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Oct 01, 2016 9:38 pm

I hope what Portis showed in the summerleague carries on into the season. I know that McBuckets didn't live up to his last year's performance but Bobby's skillset and capabilities are not that limited compared to Doug's. Niko should start and relegate Taj to the second unit so that somehow someone can relieve Lopez in his duty defending the middle. I still believe that Felicio should be their 3rd bigman option (that is if Taj remains with the team). Doug, Snell, Valentine, and Zipser are not reliable/proven good defenders so I have the same concern with Butler's minutes... They're planning to play Valentine some time in the PG spot and they already have 3 of them I don't know what the hell are they on about... I'll reserve my judgement on Wade and Rondo after the pre-season games.

I suppose whether or not they're championship contenders. Who's going to take the affirmative side, though?

Personally, I still think it could be a fun, interesting season where they're reasonably competitive and at least make the Playoffs, but I'm not really expecting anything more than that. I hope they'll be enjoyable to watch, and that we'll see continued improvement from the younger players, so that the team is on track to be more than just "interesting" in the future.
