Glad to know it's not just me, then! I might try that then, thanks. :)

Andrew, did you ever do a "definitive Live 98" roster? I'd like to use one to start a new fantasy draft season

I've made some preliminary preparations for one, and tracked down a couple of updates that'll help flesh it out.

Tried installing the game within Windows, same deal: four gamepad icons in the controller selection, none of them seem to respond to the input. However, the input is recognised when configuring the controller, and if I select Keyboard1 as the configuration for any of the gamepad icons, the keyboard controls work. So yeah, a bit weird.

Well, the workaround where I could select the keyboard configuration is no longer working, so that's out the window. Works fine with a PlayStation 2-to-USB adapter on my laptop, though I also have to select the second gamepad icon for it to work properly. I'll keep fiddling around with it, see if I can work something out for my desktop. Getting it to run properly is most of the battle anyway, and it appears we've won the war there, thanks to Matt's findings. (Y)

Works fine. However, 5 on 5 games are unplayable in Live 99. Everything is in slow motion. I have a quad core 2.6 GHz core i7 with a NVidia Geforce GTX 960M. Any help please?

That's weird, performance is fine for me on an i5-4690K, GTX 970 (Windows 7). Even though that's a notebook, it should work fine with nGlide. What are your nGlide settings? Where do you have NBA Live 99 installed?

Is your main drive C? Try installing it there.

Recently had an issue where NBA Live 98 stopped working. Reinstalling the compatibility patch got everything up and running again. Just thought I'd post it in case anyone else encounters similar difficulties after setting everything up and getting it working.

Following up on this some six years later with a solution!

Turns out, NBA Live 2001 recognises my Logitech gaming keyboard and Logitech gaming mouse as gamepads. I'm still trying to figure out why, since no other old NBA Live has that issue. I have a spare generic mouse and keyboard, and when I plugged those in instead, there were no conflicts with the controllers and they worked just fine in-game.

So, if you encounter any similar issues, it may be a conflict with your mouse and/or keyboard. Try using a different mouse and/or keyboard, and it'll likely fix the issue of four available controllers, none of which work during gameplay. I'm looking for a fix that doesn't involve alternating those peripherals, but it's a short term solution that's worth exploring while you're troubleshooting.
