A few questions about player progression and CAP

Postby KoBeKiDSkiLLsBryaNt on Fri Aug 27, 2004 4:52 am

Does anyone know how the player progression is??? NBA 2004's player progression just sucked. It would be sweet if players improve during the season, it would also be nice if players ACTUALLY improve in the in-season training events. My last question about Create-a-player, will there be more faces to chose from?? And hair styes?? I know Live can do sooo much better with the Create-A-Player feature. I'm really looking forward for Live '05 to come out, because of the much improved dynasty mode.*

From what I hear from the guys who went to the summit is that the player development is much better and that during those training sessions the players actually improve. I also hear that the CAP is like the one in Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

they need to make player developements heavily based on minutes and performance. injuries should also effect progression. i dont want it to be so damn random anymore.

speaking of injuries, i would love to see an injury happen in the open court or in between games or something...
im tired of injuries happening only on a collision under the net

Yeahh, it would be nice to see a player limping in the court. Or a player playing injured ala Allen Iverson.*

Great idea. That would be great to see a player toughing it out for the team, limping to the foul line, etc.

BTW, are you Kidskills08 from the NBA Wire site?

i'd like to see like 1 in every 100 players, an injury just ruins a guy's career ala penny, grant hill, mcdyess.

I think player progression in the offseason should be more dramatic...

In Live 2004, you can only up one or two specific skills by 1-3 points.... That doesn't make much difference when you are actually playing a game...

A real-life example would be McGrady... When he was in Raptors, he didn't have much playing time thus having a low rating in NBA live too... When he switched to Orlando, he quickly became the top player in the NBA.... He even have the potential to be the NBA player of the year...

Another example would be Carlos Boozer... But not as dramatic as McGrady...

And also, while some players can improve, some players can also have their ratings drop due to aging/injury etc.... And again, the changes should be dramatic (ex. -15 on agility, -10 on speed etc)...

The only reason T-mac didn't get as much playing time as Carter was because he didn't like the coach and the coach didn't like him either.

I can only imagine how great my Raptors could be if T-mac didn't leave and Doug Christie didn't get traded...

But anyway to stay on topic, the idea of someone improving/declining over the offseason or season would be a great feature.

i understand that it is realistic to have players improve/degrade dureing a season but i personally like the way it is now where the stats only change during the offseason. realism is always a good thing unless it comes at the cost of gameplay and i think this would be something that made gameplay worse. just an opinion though.

i want to see rookies growing like in reality, after 2 or 3 years some get better, some doesn't explose ... and sometimes you've ggot a superstar, and i want them to progres so you can get steals ...
