In a franchise, once the season is over, is it possible to edit the draft pool with custom or download players so that the game is as real as possible?

You want to put James,Anthony in the 1st Draft? There was a patch for 2k1

I know that once you enter off-season and rookies are generated...You can't save! So I don't know how you can put someone into the draft pool if you can't save it when its been generated.

So can we or can't we.....cause i really want Lebron, Carmello, Darko, and real college players in the draft.

they made that patch for live 2001 when battier, curry, chandler, and gasol, etc.. last year i think.. i dunno if they can do it this year. its still to early for knowing who is gonna be in the draft pool.

yes, you can. you need a db editor, dbviewer and dbcommander are the only two i can think of, or the nba toolkit for access. then you need to create the players in the default roster as free agents, make them to your liking or whatever. then open the saves folder for your default roster, all the information you need to put them into the franchise is right there. with dbcommander you can open your default roster save file and franchise save file at the same time, then you just copy the entire players line or row from the default to the franchise, then change their team from 29 to 30 and they should be in the draft. you could do it anytime during the season and have them in the draft, but save your franchise before moving on to the offseason. hopefully someone will add anything that i might have missed, you could also do a search for more detailed explanations.

Question: Can we erase the default players the game already has for the draft pool?
Fri Jan 03, 2003 7:46 am
you can only delete them after the draft, i don't think there is a rookie pool, i think it just uses some sort of database that randomly puts ratings, names, positions, etc. together and makes up a crop of rookies. that's the only way i can see coming up with a bunch of second round pg's and sg's with speed in the 50's and 60's.

Team 29 is Free Agents but 30 is All Stars. When I make a player with team 39, Rookie, he doesn't appear in the draft but does appear as a Free Agent.
Can anyone tell me how to create a player that is in the draft?

I do what CoCoBee does...Just after the draft took place. Jotted down the top 3 picks and changed attributed and everything then patched the faces of Carmelo, James & Darko.

I'm trying to ADD a player to the draft, not edit ones the computer creates.

Speaking of Carmello...why is it when i downloaded his cyberface and tried to put it on the game his face turned black? and none of the gear was added

Did some experimenting last night.
Adding a player to team 39, listed as ROOKIE with fa abbreviation, results in the player appearing as a 0 yr experience rookie in the FA pool after the draft.
Adding a player to team 30 - he never appears. 30 is listed as All Star Team East.
Seems like a player cannot be added to the rookie draft.

did you start a franchise first, or are you adding the players to the default db files? the all star teams listed in the teams .dbf refer to the teams on the default roster. there is no set all star teams in franchise mode, so team 30 should work. if the player doesn't show up there is another column that is wrong. check the isgenerated field and set to yes, then the computer should generate that player in the draft. also start the franchise first and then add the players to the saved file players dbf. i'll try generating another draft to see if they show up on team 30 for sure in case anyone is still trying to make it work

in case anybody still checks this thread, i did test it again and team 30 will add players to the draft if you create them in the franchises saved dbf file. if you're trying to put them in a rookie pool for a franchise that you haven't started yet, that i'm not sure of.

thanks /\
Now someone needs to create some draft prospects

I can confirm that you cannot add players to be drafted at the end of the season to a roster that you will then start a season with. Therefore, it's not possible to incorporate this into roster patches.

So whats the final verdict?
Sun Mar 02, 2003 6:37 pm
Bear with me, hopefully I don't jumble my words.
jwin's method works, BUT you must do it yourself at the conclusion of the playoffs. If you are willing and able, you can add your own rookies to the game by editing the DBF at the conclusion of the playoffs.
What isn't possible is adding players to the DBF then distributing the file, which is then used to start a season ie. adding them to a current roster patch. This method worked with NBA Live 2000 and 2001, but not with NBA Live 2003.
So...
Add rookies yourself by editing your Franchise...YES
Add rookies to a roster patch which is used to start a new season...NO
Information subject to corrections and new discoveries.
