Team AwardsPlayer Of The MonthLeandro Barbosa (1st)
A mid-month trade wasn't enough to slow down LB, as the transition from role player to starter has caused several major 20+ point scoring outbursts, and Leandrinho (how many nicknames does this guy have?) has now become a main cog in the Nets' system. He is currently averaging 9 points per game, but since arriving in Brooklyn he is regularly posting 12+ points. Other nominations include Jarrett Jack and Brook Lopez, but they were turned down because of bad field goal percentage and a mid-month injury respectively. Barbosa was voted simply because of his great contribution to the team without much downside.
Defensive Player Of The MonthThaddeus Young (1st)
This last month has been good for Thaddeus. He is close to averaging a double-double in points and rebounds in the last ten games and is generally considered the best all-around player on the team. He has had several great games and if there is any downside to his game, then he definitely isn't showing it. He is very much thriving in the Nets enviroment. Brook Lopez was also in the running for this award, but his contribution was definitely cut short by the injury causing him to miss half of the month.
Bench Player Of The MonthAndrea Bargnani (1st)
Andrea was a surprise scoring machine this month, with 3 20+ point games in the 5 game stretch leading up to the Barbosa trade. A lot of the scoring load has been lifted since then, but he is still a very effective contributor. And with T-Rob being the only other stand-out from the bench so far, The Barg (definitely should be his nickname) seemed like a front runner to win this award.
Fantasy Player Of The MonthBojan Bogdanovic (1st)
This award goes to the player that despite uninspiring play, still somehow seems to be very consistent statistically. Bojan is one such player. Every game where he gets significant minutes, he always gets to around the 14 point mark. This is very good as a lot of players on the team struggle to put up more than 10 points per game. He hasn't really done much significant things on the court, but always seems to score a good amount. You may think this is a negative award, but that is coming up next.
Disappointment Of The MonthRondae Hollis-Jefferson (1st)
Nobody expected RHJ to come in and instantly make a serious impact, but they were kind of hoping for it. He hasn't really done well on the offensive end, rarely scoring more than ten points, but people didn't expect him to do that. They expected him to do work defensively, but he hasn't done that either. Not once has he recorded 2 or more blocks or steals, and he rarely has more than a couple rebounds per game. All-around people are just hoping that he progresses well in the future.
