Does management think the Bulls are contenders? Aside from injuries, was Thibs standing in the way of a championship!? I think the next hire will answer that question

So that's it... If only Jeff Van Gundy and Jerry Sloan are eager to coach and had no issues with this organization it would've been less worrisome... I don't know about Hoiberg since he already said that he's not sure about jumping to the NBA since he have health issues so if he's unavailable (and you can count out Mark Jackson since he got fired on his last gig with the same issue as Thibs'), It'll go down to Alvin Gentry, Scott Brooks, and perhaps Mike Woodson... Leaning towards Gentry if that's the case since Brooks is limited and Woodson's a nutcase...

I'm indifferent at this point as to who the new coach will be. If Thibs was the problem, the team should bounce back and contend.

Which happens first- Thibs finds a new team or the Bulls hire his replacement???

I imagine he's already getting calls from the Pelicans and Magic, so it wouldn't surprise me if he gets a new gig before the Bulls officially sign Hoiberg (or whomever).

It seems that the management delayed everything so that they can get a compensation from those who wants him but unfortunately no one called... Also there are reports that 3 of the starters would rather go on vacation and will avoid team facility this summer if he's retained so who do you reckon are those? Noah and Gasol are the obvious 2 for me since you can tell it with their body language in the playoffs just not sure the third one if it's Butler or Dunleavy since both have issues with playing time (the former's overplaying while the latter's the Boozer of this year)

Just realized that MDJ's a FA and not a shoe in for next season so it should be Butler then...

All speculation but I believe all the Bulls players were going to avoid the team facility this offseason. They knew he'd be there and were probably scared shitless what he had in store for them after their gutless game 6 performance. In all seriousness i think the players grew tired of Thibs style.

This Bulls management is strange. Who else would release that kind of statement?!?!

I've probably run the "organisations win championships" quote into the ground at this juncture, but...it really sums up their attitude and dysfunction perfectly.

I thought this mentality went out the door with Krumbs Krause. Reinsdorf is just a business man when it comes to bball. He is a baseball guy. He admitted when the sox won in 2005 it was the most rewarding title he was part of.

It is a big surprise he put out that statement. It must be great as a gm to work for an owner with this kind of loyalty. Not so much for a coach

To Paxsons credit, he is very media friendly. As far as his moves, he's been more hit than miss. I think though there is something a little off with him but cannot put my finger on it. I know he wants to win and doesn't know at times when to hold back- choke deal negro, yell at the players (Crawford curry years) a loss.

Even if Thibs was stubborn as an ox, the onus will be on management if this team isn't a contender next year.

My Bulls needs list
-backup pg... Who can defend. A combo guard will suffice
-3pt shooting/defensive perimeter player
-backup center

Bulls have drafted well considering their draft position. It will be difficult to fill all those needs (Fa included)

Maybe Moore, Snell, McDermott are the ones who fill the first 2 needs....

I think we are going to see changes made to the Bulls roster in the next couple of year with a little less defence and a more up tempo style of play under Freddy so whoever they draft will reflect this approach imo.

I point guard is a must though, I love Derrick Rose as a player but you know he won't be playing 82 a season from here on out and you also don't know how many good years he has in him.

In the short term, they are limited in making a significant FA pickup. Once Butler is resigned, management will have to execute a salary dump (Noah or Taj) to sign a decent FA

Noah is on an expiring deal. Rose's contract up the following year...Leaving the team ties to only Butler, most likely McDermott, and 1st round picks.

I think Pax Gar's fate will depend on the teams success or lack of it these next 2 years. I think they will try it one more year with this group.

They bank on their younger players to improve (Niko, McDermott, snell)... Maybe sign an athletic wing like gerald green... And go from there

Sam Dekker
Christian Wood
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Bobby Portis
Jerian Grant

For me Dekker is the most NBA-ready in the bunch while Hollis-Jefferson has the highest upside (and probably will not be available anymore at the 22nd pick)...

I reckon It will all depend on Hoiberg's system but a backup center will be indeed a good addition...

Rondae looks pretty damn interesting as a prospect. He looks and plays bigger then his listed size. Not since Brewer have the Bulls had a legit defensive wing off the bench

He is indeed... All he have to develop is a perimeter game and you have another Draymond Green... Portis' lack of explosiveness and Wood being like a 3 year project type of player may still be available at 22 if Rondae's gone...

Delon Wright
Andrew Harrison

Upshaw and Wright, like Rondae, maybe picked earlier but will be a great pick up if they're still available (especially Wright who looks like Elfrid Payton/MCW but with a jumpshot)

That's a good endorsement. As sloppily as the coaching change was handled, what's done is done. Hope they can put together a quality staff to surround Hoiberg.

Are the Bulls going into a kind of restructure mode (not a rebuild) but a roster shake up coming never the less?

I love watching Rose and Noah but with both being injured so much it has become Butlers team now

I think management thinks they are a contender. My guess is improvement will come within as they don't have the cap to land a good FA. trade market is low for anyone not named Butler and Mirotic, and their owner wont pay the luxury tax

The restructure/rebuild can happen in a few years as most of the core players will be off the books

Yeah, I see the current unit (give or take a player here and there) having a run for another year or two. It could be worse; pick any squad between 1999 and 2004, for example.
