I'm butthurt cause Gasol was my fantasy 1st round pick. Rose...I have a feeling he'll come back, remember, the season is a little fresh, but of course, I want to see him 110% healthy. Iggy was meshing so well the Warriors...

And how about them Pistons.

I think Iggy's going to be alright in the long run- it was only diagnosed as a strained hamstring, which sucks and hurts like hell, but it's not a tear or anything.

Rose is who I'm worried about. Now he's got two bad knees, will likely sit most of the season, thus my gamble with the #8 pick in my other fantasy league is a total waste. :( On the plus side, Westbrook looks amazing so far and I got him in the fourth round.

Yeah, thankfully Iggy isn't seriously hurt. Barnes also gets a good run which is good for him. (Although I'm an OKC/DET fan)

Right is meniscus, left one is ACL. Very very bad combination. It is all what does Rose decides to do with the surgery of the medial meniscus. Removal of it, we're might see a Brandon Roy like finish to his career. But Blake Girffen suffered the same injury as well in the 2012 summer, I didn't know what exactly he do, but he looks fine now. But of course, I just read stuff, I'm not a doctor.

Westbrook became a huge steal. (Darn whoever gave the 6-8 week timetable) While Rose, unfortunately will never redeem his early draft pick value. Aaron Affalo is my nicest steal. Lulz.

Meniscus tears are not nearly season ending. Metta World Peace came back in 2-3 weeks. The standard I believe is 6 weeks, but with Rose, that could mean 6 months. :P

Metta came back in 12 days, but he had it removed. Rose is probably gonna reattach it to prevent future bone-on-bone damage. Then he'll be out for the season.

Is Rose being out for the season confirmed? That just doesn't make sense. It shouldn't be much more than two months if repaired .

It isn't confirmed, but all the stories seem to suggest that.

Tim S. Grover wrote:Couple ways to deal with a meniscus tear. Take it out, you return faster but can shorten your career. Reattach it, miss maybe 4-6 months.

EDIT :

Wasting no time, Bulls just announced Derrick Rose has already undergone his knee surgery and declared him out for rest of 2013-14 season

Damn it.

That is some frustrating news for the Bulls fans.

Sad direction for the career of Derrick Rose.

man i feel bad for rose and the bulls. they had built a good time with real title chances, a team i feel could of and would of beat the heat but then rose went down and its pretty much been over from there. hate to say they missed their chance but its really looking that way. he let his past injuries get in his head and thats never a good thing, this wont make any of that any better.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade Derrick Williams to the Sacramento Kings for Luc Mbah a Moute.

The trade is contingent on Mbah a Moute passing a physical.

Williams was the second overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft.

No picks, cash or others players are expected to be included in the deal.

Great addition for the Kings.

Apparently Team Captain Rudy Gay has banned teammates from looking at the stat sheet after games.

EDIT:
It’s common practice that after every game each player is provided a scoresheet. The sheet breaks down the individual players’ contributions as well as team totals.

That won’t be happening anymore in Toronto. Rudy Gay has put a stop to it.

Gay sees the scoresheets as an unnecessary barrier to team unity or even a temptation to be more focussed on what is best for the individual as opposed to what is best for the team.

“We’re not playing for stats,” Gay said.

Gay said there was no incident or no moment that pushed him toward this decision but as a leader on this team, he felt it was just something that was best for the team.

“I wanted to just nip it in the butt before it became an issue,” he said. “We come in here after losses, after wins and people are staring at those stat sheets, but that’s not what we’re about. We’re a team and the stat that matters is the W.”

19 FGA per game, 20 ppg.
No wonder he doesn't want teammates looking at the stat sheet. On the other hand they are leading the horrible Atlantic division with all those W.

Its what you decide what to do. In Metta's and even Roy's case where they tore their meniscus, they both decided to remove it, hence the faster return. Plus it was their lateral, whereas Rose tore his medial. (from what I heard, its the more serious one)
But Rose picked the smart decision, even though another season of waiting after a mere 10 games, I think we will see that MVP caliber Rose though.
Kinda intriguing stuff here:

How about the 38% shooting. Which is 3rd worst when you combine the volume he shoots it at, and the 2 assists. However he does contribute on defense with 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks.

As mentioned in the Bulls thread the players don't decide what to do, it's the doctor's. The doctor's first priority is always to repair it, removal is the last option when repair is impossible and that depends on the severity of the tear and the severity is only known during the surgery itself.
It's the other way around, it's the lateral tear that's more serious.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nb ... o/3692823/

Rose will have surgery Monday in Chicago, and the Bulls have listed him as out indefinitely. There's no timetable because the surgeon won't know the extent of the injury until surgery.

Rose and the Bulls caught a break in some ways. It wasn't a torn ACL, and it wasn't the lateral meniscus, which bears as much as 80% of the lateral load compared to as much as 50% of medial load, according to certified athletic trainer Jeff Stotts.

Since Rose already had the surgery, Bulls shutting Rose down for the season probably means his meniscus tear was repaired instead of removed so the long healing time required, which is good news for his playing career.

The reason the lateral is more serious is because of lateral movement, obviously. You rarely push off towards your right with your right leg.

Also the severity depends on what zone the injury is in. Red zone is the edge and can be easier to repair, and even heal on its own. White zone is more in the middle and can take longer to heal, so I can only assume that his injury is towards or in the white zone.

I still think six months is too much. I would like to see him reach out to Kobe to get in touch with him about his knee treatments in Germany and see if that is an option down the road. These injuries are going to shorten his career, and he has to do what's best for him.

If you think you've seen the Blazers looking at iPads on the bench during games, your eyes are not deceiving you. Multiple members of the team are indeed viewing game tape on the bench, during games, with an eye towards strategic adjustments.

A quick survey of Portland's key players on this subject produced some interesting results. Lillard, Matthews, Batum and LaMarcus Aldridge all said that they are using iPads for help during games. Interestingly, they are pursuing individual approaches when it comes to what footage they want to watch, and they also have personal preferences about when and how they view the on-demand footage.

Matthews and Aldridge were the biggest advocates of the new technology. Matthews told Blazersedge that he uses the tablet to examine plays on both sides of the ball. On his offensive touches, he's concerned with his shooting form, whether he's rushing his shots, and whether there were additional options available to him when the ball swings his way. On defensive plays, Matthews is checking for his stance, his spacing relative to his opponent, and how players are scoring on him.

Aldridge, by contrast, does not look at Portland's defensive possessions, instead reviewing the opposition's defensive coverages when he has the ball in the block or in isolation. Where are the double teams coming from? When do they come? Which of Portland's shooters are opponents choosing to leave open? What are his passing options? He sounded like a football quarterback or an offensive coordinator when describing this instant, in-game "reading the defense" process.

Yeah, of course Roy and Metta didn't "want to" remove it. And thanks for clearing that up. [:

As much as it sucks to see Rose out for 6 months is so long even though the injury isn't suppose to take 6 months, I think the GM is exaggerating it so Rose has no pressure to comeback this season (considering how the playoffs went). But it's just a weird theory I made up.

Hawes and Wroten still out, Sixers pick up a nice tanksgiving loss to the Magic. Orlando looks like they could actually sneak into the playoffs with how awful the East is. From the Philly side, I'm just glad to see Thad back and Turner still racking up nice counting stats.

I really need Hawes back for my fantasy league. I'm getting killed without him. He played something like 132 games straight then he's suddenly having knee issues, this is bad. He is probable for Friday game.
