I'd like to think that he simply means he'll continue to work on his game and continue to build his confidence on his knee through the offseason, so that there's no doubt in his mind once he returns. Once again though, we have contradictory statements and no real idea where he's really at.

SoF'nAwesome wrote:He will play. But hype will not meet reality.

Without actually seeing him in action or having insider knowledge of the situation, I don't think any of us are really qualified to make that call. Thibbs said he was looking like his normal self in a workout a few weeks ago, so there's no reason to assume he's likely to be a shell of his former self. If nothing else, it doesn't sound like he's broken down with no chance of playing at a high level anymore.

It's kind of weird how unsure he seems to be though. Say he bangs his knee against another knee and has some swelling...by the sound of it he seems like he'd freak out about it and not play through it thinking it might be his ACL injury acting up despite what doctors might say.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Jul 05, 2013 10:35 pm

Maybe he's still getting over that mindset and that's what he's referring to. If so, and it means continuing to work on his game during the offseason while scrimmaging and getting over the idea that he could re-injure his knee at any moment, that's not a bad thing...so long as he's good to go on opening night.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

I hope so too, I felt bad for him when he was being bashed for sitting out the playoffs but with the other injuries I didn't think him playing would have won them the championship. But at a point he's got to get over it, his body might be ready but mentally he doesn't seem to be over it. I'm sure it's a scary ass injury but it would be a shame if his game changed because of the lingering fear.

Absolutely. If he's fine from a physical standpoint and that's simply the last hurdle to get over, then I guess that's something. But like you said, he does have to get over it at some point.

I cant understand how you sign Dunleavy for the exact same money the Spurs got Belinelli ... did the Bulls watch their series against Brooklyn?

Strange indeed.

Maybe Belinelli wanted to be with the Spurs more than the Bulls.

I love my Bulls but the organization has been dysfunctional since Reinsdorf bought the team. It seems like the coach and GM are always at odds. Phil vs Krause destroyed the dynasty. Paxon and Del Negro hated each other so much they came to blows and now it's Thibs vs Gar. Foreman is a disciple of Krause and firing Adams seems like a petty power play right out of Krause's playbook.

Yeah, that's a headscratcher. Would've much preferred they kept Belinelli, so that's disappointing. You can't even chalk it up to a money saving move when you're bringing in Dunleavy for basically the same deal.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

what's with the disappointment? was it because Stacey king made marco his new 'hot sauce? if either of these guys were really skilled, they both would have gotten more $.

imo it's a wash. Dunleavy essentially brings the same to the table as marco but he's taller and rebounds better

Better the devil you know, I guess?

Glancing at their stats again though, Dunleavy did shoot the ball better last year. For some reason I had it in my head that he performed worse than he did.

Belinelli isn't a restricted FA. It's not the Bulls are trying to save money by letting him go it's Belinelli not wanting to play with the Bulls despite the same salary offered.

Dunleavy was pretty solid in the Miami series as well.

Yeah, I stand corrected on the Dunleavy/Belinelli comparisons. It's a signing that I'm not placing great expectations upon but if he continues to be solid and shoot the three at around a 40% clip like he did last year, it'll probably prove to be a solid move. Here's hoping for the best.

whats your expectations for the rookies

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Mon Jul 08, 2013 10:51 am

That they'll hardly see any playing time under Thibbs. ;)

I kept hearing that Snell was one of the better shooters in the Draft, so he could be a promising selection. I'm all for them having a little more of a scoring punch so if he can turn out to be a knockdown shooter, that'd be most welcome. I'm guessing it'll be a situation similar to Jimmy Butler where he won't get a lot of quality minutes in his rookie season but if he can show flashes of being a good role player, an opportunity might open up for him in his second year. I'm not expecting to see too much of him or for the Bulls to get too much out of him right out of the gate but for the 20th pick, he's worth a shot.

I'm guessing there's a greater chance that Snell will be able to find a place in the rotation at some point compared to Murphy. Depending on whether he has NBA three point range he could perhaps be a stretch four and essentially fill the role that Radmanovic was signed for last year. So yeah, the bar's not high and whatever contributions he can make will be a pleasant surprise.

They're the 20th and 49th picks in a Draft that isn't exactly the Class of 1984, 1996 or 2003. Hopefully, one of them can turn into a solid role player at some point.

On another note, Noah is apparently going to be working out with Hakeem this offseason. (Y)

surprisingly I agree ;)

Butler showed in flashes he could play in his rookie year. he was aggressive. supposedly that's the knock on Snell.

unless lil nate gets resigned, I think Snell may have a chance at cracking the rotation. hinrich is a bet to get injured and Teague is well... Teague. we'll see how the summer league goes and who GarPax brings in with those 2 last spots.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Reckon they will re-sign Nate? I've seen a couple of comments from him that would seem to indicate that he's keen, I think it would be a decent move.

if he takes the vet min or whatever salary exception the bulls have to offer, it's a "win".

I don't think there's anyone out there for that $ that can impact the game as he does. good and/or bad

Snell looked good in tonight's game after looking shaky in the first two. He's a smart player, he makes good decisions with the ball and always makes the extra pass. Murphy looks like an excellent 2nd round pick, unfortunately he broke his nose tonight. Goudelock had an off night, I still think we should give him a contract considering Teague is still turning the ball over too much and Hinrich is sure to get hurt sometime during the season.

Eh... hes OK as a prospect PG but I still think that hes not going to have some minutes like in LA, Hinrich is pretty shaky on his durability but I dont think having two prospect PGs while possibly D. Rose and Hinrich is could be out is a very good idea and even though hes just a prospect and wouldnt be that expensive to pay, the Bulls REALLY needs to save money

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mkj3x4c I WOULD LOVE THIS TRADE not that I hate Hinrich or Boozer, Hinrich is already pretty shaky when it comes to his injury problems, Boozer is great and the Bulls think that him not being that good of a defender is a much of a big deal because he hits pretty tough shots but with Kevin Love instead the Bulls would obviously be phenomenal! maybe even putting Taj Gibson in that trade if his not very happy with his role... But thats going to hurt their defense. overall this trade would give Bulls 3 407 727 tax!

Don't think the Wolves would be too eager to make that deal.
